This is an example of the text I want to modify:
0110
0001
0001
1000
[Code]....
Here, I want to replace two-line digits in bold(0110 0001) with a different sequence as the program scans the text line by line. But two things complicate the task:
1. the comma lines should be ignored, but
2. they also should stay intact after changing the digits.
I want to extract the jhon

I have a text in richtextbox1, i want to extract each 3 char of the string and so on, like:

How can i do it ? Code can be in C# 2010 i will translate to vb.net 2010
I'm using WinPcap to capture incoming data. Basically I'm dealing with a continuous stream of incoming data, either as byte array or as memorystream (pieces up to 64kb).
I need to check this data to see if there's a certain url and then extract it.
The url I need to find looks like this:http://201.122.38.5/data/today/798572987-589571?139805890582 The length of the 'code' after "/today/" is always the same. The IP address changes. What's the best/fastest/most efficient way to continuously check these byte arrays or memorystreams and extract the urls without hogging the CPU too much?

What am I doing wrong or do I use a incorrect way to extract text from an array? Using += takes up a lot of computing power when it reaches like 50000 characters so I want a method with much better performance
I need a regular expression that I can use in VBScript and .NET that will return only the numbers that are found in a string.
For Example any of the following "strings" should return only 1231231234
123 123 1234
(123) 123-1234
123-123-1234

I want to run a check on a String right before I append it to a StringBuilder to make sure only numeric characters are in the string. What's a simple way to do that?
View 7 RepliesI am new to VB (and coding in general) and I'm wanting to make a check digit generator. To do this I need to take the a user text input and split it into individual digits so that I can then calculate the check digit.

For some reason I can't figure this out. Here's my code. colorTextbox.Text =Format(Hex(ColorBox.Color.G), "00")What I want it to do is format the Green Hex number to be "00" instead of just "0" when the color is something like blackhis has proven to be very stressful and this Format command makes no sense to me anymore (worked differently in 2005).For one, whatever I put in the quotes ("00") is what comes out in the text box. Butaccording to the command parameters, "00" should be the format, not the actual text! So then I tried any string format I could think of (## etc.) along with switching the order and I STILL can't figure this out.
View 16 RepliesI'm trying to match a string to see if it matches exactly this:####-####, it has to be 4 digits followed by a hyphen followed by 4 more digits. Right now I have this pattern: "d{4}-d{4}" but it's allowing 5 digits in either (or both) instead of strictly 4 per group. Here's an example of what it should allow:
1999-2000
2003-2007
2009-2010
and here's what my pattern is allowing but should not be allowing:
20081-2009
2009-20101
12345-12345
12345-1234-1234

View 2 RepliesIm wanting to use a textbox for the entry of Decimal figures (currency). Is there any way I can have it so if a user does not put a decimal figure (ie 15 instead of 15.00) it will put it on.
I tried a masked textbox, but that means i have to set the maximum number of digits before the decimal too which is no good.
Basically I have a webresponse stream:dim lol as string = readstream.tostring there is a lot of information within the string but only one link starting with http: located near the end of the string - however there is no constant character point where I can start... (i.e. 38)
I want to extract the link from the string i.e. dog cat plane car [URL]..that is approximately how it looks above - words and url substituted I want to just extract [URL]..I had an idea of parsing the string from http: to the end Then after that splitting the string up again to remove the }], however it does not return anything

I am trying to extract the first portion of a string up to the first SPACE or any non-numeric digit.I thought I could do it but the string may contain an alphabet in the front followed by varying digits of numerals, making it more complicated. Here are some examples of the string to be parsed and the expected results:
