I need to use the character height of a lowercase character. I have tried using MeasureString, but that gives me the same number for both uppercase and lowercase characters. That is not acceptable. How do I get the true height of a character?
View 2 RepliesI had a strange error in a VB6 app this morning and it all stems from the fact that IsNumeric is not working as I expected. To me this seems like a bug.
This code displays 4.15877E+62 in a message box:

I am guessing that the runtime engine is incorrectly thinking that the D is in fact an E? I think this is a bug though as the exact same code in VB.NET outputs not numeric Is this a known issue with IsNumeric?

View 6 RepliesI'm working on a Remote Desktop Control in VB.NET. However, I have no clue how to get the location where the user clicked on the picturebox.
There's a picturebox with the captured screenshot and when he clicks on the picturebox, I have to grab the width and height where the user clicked. This is not the width,height from the whole screen but from the picturebox.
What I want to do is setup a form to act like a control panel. When it loads I do not want it to be more than 94px in height but when the maximize button is pressed I would like it to expand the width of the screen. I was thinking I could do this with an "onload" event in the main form but not sure how to do it.

My screen height is 768 and width is 1366. An example image is 1200 x 1600 and the jigsaw size that works well with this image is 480 (height) x 640 (width). I would like to create an algorithm that calculates the jigsaw size for any image bearing in mind that the screen resolution will change as will the size of the image.

I'm having some issues with parsing a lot of information into controls using winforms. I've tried adding threads/backgroundworkers, but they don't seem to work properly. To avoid the cross-thread exception, I had to add an invocation checker:If Me.InvokeRequired Then Me.Invoke(New MethodInvoker(AddressOf ParseSub()))This just freezes the form as it would without threading, but without the invoke checker I get cross thread exceptions because information from one thread is trying to be sent to another.

I have a serial port hub with 4 ports. 2 of them work perfectly and the other 2 don't.I've found out that the 2 that don't work always have CTS, CD, and DSR on/true.The 2 ports "don't work" because they aren't able to receive a response.How can I turn off CTS, CD, and DSR holding? It seems that they are ReadOnly properties.I don't know if this will help, but I've recorded a log (recorded pin values every 1 second interval) for one port that worked and another that didn't.The one that didn't work:

As you can see, the one that doesn't work has a value of 1 in CTS, DSR, and CD at all times. Also, the one that does work was able to receive the data, which is shown by the 14.
I brought up a new project in Visual Studio 2010 and found that there are no gridlines on the form. I went to Tools, Options, Windows Form Designer, General and found the Show Gridlines option set to True. I tried turning it to false and back to true with no change.

I need to calculate all possible combinations. Is there a specific term for this type of calculation or combination? I'm trying to do this by reading the original text file byte by byte, converting it to a character, and then either adding that character to a memory stream or writing the unicode character to the memory stream. It may not get the same character, you could basically just call this encryption, but it's not what I am making. Ok, so I know I have to change the labeledit to true but that doesn't change the selected node to be able to edit, so how does that work?
Along with renaming I have it set to that a user can add a node. So once the node has ben added how do I let them rename it as it is being added and without being a prompt or inputbox? So lets say I cam clicked on a parent and they click add node, it adds it to parent but I have it so it is default "New" but I want them to edit it as it is added. I think it will be along the same lines as clicking on one and rename but I have to start some place.
I am writing a hangman type game and I am displaying the word to the user in a label as all *'s, but I cannot figure out how to have just one of the *'s changed in the label to the correct letter when the user inputs the correct letter into the text box and clicks the check letter button.Everything else in the program works perfectly, except for this part.[code]When I use the .Replace it changes all of the *'s to the correct selected letter.

The CharMap in WindowsXP shows the unicode character as U+00CC and to the right, it also displays the KeyStroke as Alt+0204So, how do I insert this unicode character in RichTextBox ?
