View 3 RepliesI need a function for my new project, the application I'm making for the PC is going to communicate with a PIC through USB. The problem I'm having is that I can't find a way for my .NET application to get the song that is currently playing like MSN can. I've been searching alot all over google but all I get is "how to play music in vb.net" and that is not what I'm looking for.
View 1 RepliesI am using VS 2005 Professional and writing a guitar tuner app with visual basic. I have a 6 wav files that play in button click events using the My.Computer.Audio.Play() method. I need to animate a picture box meter while a wav file is playing. I have searched in the library, but I can't find any relevant info for checking if a sound is playing for vb. Is there a way I can check to see if the wav file is playing?

The program I'm working on is an alarm clock, so that may give you an idea of the problem. Basically, I just want the user to be able to select his/her own song to play when the time comes. So, the user clicks on a button, and an OpenFileDialog pops up. The user selects an audio file, and then that file is going to be the file that is played when the alarm goes off.
I'm not near my Microsoft Visual Studio at the moment, so I didn't have time to test it, but here is a code that I think may work:

I decided to try the Code Analysis tool that came with VB2010 (at some levels). It produced LOTS of fascinating comments. Many of the comments make no sense, such as one about not disposing of a type on all paths when there is only one path that ends with an explicit call to object.Dispose. I think the analysis engine is looking at some of the calls, but they all return to the caller properly.

I'm trying to make a "Simon" game with four buttons labeled 1-4. The game is supposed to read the numbers out loud, but i have a problem with that. I have 4 wav files from google text-to-speech, each named 1-4. I made an number generator that can return like this "42331", and the game is supposed to play 4.wav, 2.wav, 3.wav, 3.wav and 1.wav.
Here's what I got so far.
Public Class Form1
Dim rnd As New Random
Dim i = 0
Dim level As Integer = 5
Dim nums As String
[code] .....
It only plays 1.wav (the last in the sequence).
How can I display text while a sound is playing? It keep pausing until the sound has completed.

View 5 RepliesI'm playing an audio file like so:
VB.NET Dim audio As New Audio(Application.StartupPath & "est.wav", True) audio.Balance = 10000 audio.Play()
Which works great. But if I need to change that file, I get an UnauthorizedException because the I haven't disposed of it. But, if I add a dispose after .Play, it won't play.
I have read through quite a few tutorials and videos and I am building my application quite good now, I have a webbrowser control that has a bunch of links from my website (MP3 files) now, how would I open a link and play it in my inbuilt MP3 player? this is my very first posting and I must say I am desperate. I have a VB assignment due in 2 days and I am so lost. I have written a code to draw some graphic, just a basic house, tree, sun etc. I have also written a code to magnify said graphics which were all the specifications of my Assignment 1 part A. Now for Part B I am being asked to extend my program so that: A - My graphic can be drawn using different colour schemes designed by me but chosen by the user B - My graphic or an appropriate part of it can be animated around the picture box if the user chooses to do so. C - Error checking is included.

View 6 RepliesI have created a backup script which my organization uses to back up a specific set of data weekly, to a server, by clicking and running the app.I am always updating it/ improving it and instead of redistributing to the select employees there has to be a way to code in a "check for updates" type of thing.
I was wondering how to make my created app check with that server to see if i am running the latest version.
How do i incorporate a "version" in my app, or would it just be a naming convention thing? and how do i check for updates? Would a button being selected to check updates be preferable? or is there a way to auto detect it?
I have one question. In code, I want to check if day is no. 20 and if month is 12. I have tried with

View 3 RepliesSo, I know from the user32 dll, and I set that as focused.
Is there a easy way of determining if the app has focus?
im using send keys, and i dont want it typing the keys and such, if the app doesnt have focus.
Also, if you click off of it, etc... It's more so a pause thing...
The only other way I can think of, is setting it so,
If myapp has focus, then pause the keysends.... then if it loses focus, assume the app i want has focus again.
I'm making a program in which a couple of txt files will be used for reading and writing (streamreader/writer). Incidentally, these txt files might be in use by another program, although never more than 1 or 2 seconds each time.
Suppose, I have the following
Dim Input As New System.IO.StreamReader("c:data.txt")
Data = Input.ReadLine
...more code...
[Code].....
This doesn't work though. When I open c:data.txt in another process and run my VB application, I still get the IOException.
