VS 2010 Key Strokes Stored In Big Hex Number?

I am making a little application to provide a simple GUI for editing controls for some old games that use INI files to store their config.I have just come across the following ini file key but I can't see how it is storing the controls. It is meant to be for an NES pad, which has 8 buttons - Up, Down, Left, Right, Start, Select, A, B.

I have been searching the forums but have not found anything like what I am wanting to do.Anyways what would be the easiest way to count the number of key strokes? Then when X amount of strokes have been reached, display a message?

I'm trying to develop macros for games. I'm currently coding with vb 2010 and I'm using the keybd_event API. It works great, I've done many working macros but I cannot find a way to send arrow strokes using this API. (Left, Right, Up, Down) I don't want to use the numpad. Here is what I've found: [Code] For some reason, nothing happens, no keystroke seems to have been sent. When I use any other ascii decimal from the ascii table, it does work but not for the arrow strokes.

I'm back again as I'm waiting for the coffee to kick in and have another question that seems to be not causing my brain cells to fire correctly.
I've set the following code to determine the line numbers of all rows returned from the procedure loop.
linenum = 0
Do While (rsData.Read())
linenum = linenum + 1
loop
Now I'm trying to code a button that will move users to different sections depending on the linenumber returned.
So if there's only one linenum with a value of 1, they get a button to 'Apply'.
If the total linenum values are greater than 1, they get a button to 'select apply date'.
Now again I'm having a brain fart and can't think of the logic if theres a linenum of 1+ how to determine the button should be displayed. It needs to include the value of 1 as well as there are more than one linenums so the button should display the 'select apply button'.

What I am doing is making a key shortcut program where the user can set that if he presses a certain key combination from anywhere on his computer while the program is still running, a defined action or program will execute. I know how to use the keyup or keydown to get the key input when the form is focused but how do you get the key input when the form is not focused or hidden. The form will be minimized to an icon in the system tray. I have not started working on the program yet since the whole purpose of the program is this.

I am trying to test a number of stored procedures through SQL Server Query Analyzer. But am stuck when I try to test stored procedures that contain Output parameters.

Hi,in my application i have to read from an excel files and check the value of every cell i'm using an OleDb connection to open it and reading but i have this issue if some of the cells in the excel sheet is having this warning when i try to read it returns DBNull .knowing that i can not force the user for not having this warning ...i have to solve this within my code .

Is there Any way to handle the crtl + Alt + Del Key combination. Take for instance in a quiz application (Win Forms ), the user should not be able to switch to other windows till the test is over.
I'm able to capture the ctrl and alt key strokes individually, using c# standard properties. but once they user hits the del key . The control goes out of my appliation and windows handles it.

I've written some code in VB.NET that exports data to Excel. The data is mostly numbers but text can occur as well. So I send it as String values to Excel. I get the error "Number stored as text".I checked the format of the cells that show the error and it is General and not Text.
how to avoid this error or prevent Excel from showing this error.

so how do i do this? what i am doing is as follows, when button1 is clicked the placer location is stored in button 1's tag property, this placer label is moved elsewhere by modifying its location in some manner. when i click button 2 then button 1 is moved to the location of the placer label when button1 was clicked.
As for solutions this is just an exercise within these constraints, i know i could set a global thickness and use this but i wish for this example to use the Tag Property as although storing onto the tag is easy and examples abound, I have found no examples of what to do with an object in a tag.

In my desktop, I have folder containing some word document files. I want the filenames of the documents in that folder. So, I used:
Dim strFiles() As String = IO.Directory.GetFiles("X:Documents and SettingsXXXDesktopvvvvv", "*.doc")
All filenames are stored in that array. But it would also include the temp document that Word generates. I am somewhat confused on how to remove this from array. I only need full filenames of the actual documents, which excludes the temp document.

I have three ways of adding parameters to my query commented out above. The all seem to return 1781 records (which is all of the records) and will not filter out to what the UserName variable equals which should reduce it to 32 rows.
I use a Console.WriteLine to show that the UserName is indeed my username. But it seems to not be getting passed to the query properly. I tested the Stored Procedure before even starting in on the program, so I know it functions properly. I just don't know what I'm missing from a VB.NET perspective to get the same results into my DataTable.

Need to design a program that can encrypt and decrypt messages stored in simple text files using a private key stored in a separate file. Software should also be able to allow the users to enter simple messages that either displays the encrypted or decrypted message. The encryption method should use a simple substitution method. It should be set out in the following format:

on a new project - windows form app i would like to bring a simple stored procedure from a server ( with credentials ) with one parameter.
the stored procedure is on the : "SERVER" "database" "sa" "sa" and it looks like this:

I am using VB.Net 2010 and calling a stored procedure with a dataset to get values in a table plus "created" values.
The values for the "created" values do not come across from the stored procedure. They all show as zero in the IDE and False for the variables. I know I am getting the record because the first five values come across from the stored procedure into the variables correctly.
When I step through a VB6 program using ADO the values are pulled across from the stored procedure.
The problem seems to be in the interface between a dataset and "created" fields in a stored procedure.[code]...
