View 9 RepliesI'm trying to make one form in my application always on top of other forms. Not the 'topmost' property, I want it on top JUST within the application.
View 8 RepliesI how can I make my form not get focus when it, or a control on it, is clicked?
Basically i want to be able to click a button on the form, and the buttonclick event occurs, but the current window retains focus. How can I do that?
I have so far been able to write the program that glasses the windows I want (via a global keyboard shortcut).
I now need a way to replicate Glass2k's feature which makes glassed windows stay on top of all windows irrespective of which program I switch to (more like setting a WinForm's TopMost property to True. Is there any way of doing this in .NET?
I'm prepared to get down and dirty with DllImports and all so any suggestion is welcome as long as it is in VB.NET or C#.
I have a tool window that I want to stay above the main application form, but not stay on top of all windows forms. Similar to the floating properties window for visual studio - it always stays on top of the main VS window, but if I select another program, like internet explorer, the floating properties window will be behind internet explorer.
What I have is an application that has several forms that may be displayed at the same time. I have a Messages form that displays messages generated by the code in the form, that gives the status of the application. Obviously, the user would not normally be working on this form, but they may want it to be visible to see the status messages from the program (File saved confirmations, etc). So, my two options right now are I can set the form to be on top of all other windows forms or, when the user clicks on the main application form, the messages form would be hidden by the main form.
How do I find which form is currently on top? (child forms in a MDI parent form)
View 4 RepliesI am trying to write a program that displays a medium opacity image as the topmost form. that I can handle, the part that is giving me trouble is that I want windows to "ignore" the topmost picture form and allow me to interact with any forms behind it (mine or otherwise) as if the see-through form isn't there. I have searched all over but cant seem to find a way to do this.
View 8 RepliesI'm writing a program that's supposed to keep the employees at my work away from doing things they're not supposed to on the computer. So I made a "launcher" window that's only closeable with password. I also disabled task manager. However when I start an application from my launcher window, the launcher window goes over it because of its topmost property.
View 2 Repliesi want to make my login form when it is open the user cannot move or do anything until they login and also how to prevent user for closing a form.
View 4 RepliesI have an application that just stores shortcuts to most used applications on users desktops. My problem is that when the machine loads after they login the app window looses focus and sometimes doesn't show in the taskbar. I tried to use Me.Focus() but that just gives the treeview focus and not the form itself. I mean the parent has focus in the treeview but the form is not highlighted, I can then click on the form and it gets selected.
What is a good way to get the whole form focus? I used me.focus in the form load too.
I have MDI application and couple of child windows...This is how I'm opening one child window
Private Sub Membe*******tripMenuItem_Click(sender As System.Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles Membe*******tripMenuItem.Click
Dim members As New members
members.MdiParent = Me
[code]....
My problem is that I dont have an idea how to check is that form already opened and if it is simply to focus it... Now I can open as many as I want same forms (on the picture this are couple same child forms, what I don't want...So I need simple check is this child form opened and if yes focus it?
I'm programming a Minesweeper clone in Visual Studio 2010, with VB.NET, as a Windows Form Application, and I'm having trouble with the Game Won and Game Lost forms. When I show those forms, I want the game form to still be visible, so that the player can see where the mines were, but I don't want the game form to be enabled until the Game Won or Game Lost form is closed. Exactly like Windows Minesweeper does when you win or lose.

What I need to do is Set my new form to be the top most form of only my application while still having click access to the main form. Right now I have tried the property Topmost = True but the thing about that I really do not like is it puts the form above every single windows form. I only want the form to be the topmost of my application. The showdialog also will not work because I no longer have access to my main form with click events.
View 4 RepliesI'm trying to embed a form, which works, but it's under all my controls. It should appear on top of everything.
Dim frmEmbedded As New frmLogin()
frmEmbedded.TopLevel = False
frmEmbedded.TopMost = True
Me.Controls.Add(frmEmbedded)
frmEmbedded.Show()
I don't know why this happens, am I missing something?
If I set TopLevel to true, it deosn't show up at all.
I want to prevent my application from losing focus, untill I close it. (so that I can not click on ANYTHING else, untill I'm done with it. period.)I've tried using Me.Focus() on a timer, but that doesn't do s***...I've also tried countless API's out there, but I seriously can't get any of them to work.. my form simply does NOT want to stay in focus! It's driving me crazy! What the hell am I doing wrong?
View 2 RepliesIs it possible to set a form Topmost setting only for one commercial program?Say my program is A and commercial program is B... View 2 RepliesI am creating a toolbar for the desktop. The only problem I have is that all though I have the windows above all others windows I need to have the other programs (not created by me) to snap or max to below my program etc. I have tried to search but have not found anything to help me or explain how to do it..
I am using Visual Studio 2010 Ultmate (visual basic 2010)..
I have two forms in an application. One is he background and then I show another keypad form called with the show() method (not showDialog) because I need to perform some validations on btn click.
The kepad has 10 buttons and an Enter Button. The problem is that the form keeps loosing focus (I checked this with a messagebox which keeps poping up once for focus=true and again for focus=false, it continuously keeps losing and gaining focus) so it does not process any keypress events untill i click somewhere on the form. I tried using me.focus() in form load event but to no avail. The forms TopMost property is also set to true.
I want to make an auto log off feature, I want to detect if there is any user input, and if there isn't the user will be automatically logged off. So I want to know how to detect mouse wheel events when the form doesn't have focus.

View 2 RepliesIs there a better way to make a form with multiple buttons opening different things than having a form that has lots group boxes for each tab. So in the begining each box will be invisible and when you click the button the corresponding group box will become visible. Is there any other way?It will be like a background image and it'll have buttons that will mask it with invisible buttons. when the button is clicked it will open the corresponding group box.

View 21 RepliesI'm trying to make a borderless form. I chose a dark red color as a backcolor and as a transparency key. I made my own dragable title bar, my own close, minimize, maximize and restore buttons and all that stuff. BUT, in order to imitate the Microsoft Windows' style perfectly, I tried to copy that outer glow that Microsoft has:I had to add an outer glow to my form in Photoshop and save it as .PNG. Here's what happened:The dark red became darker under the influence of my outer glow, and it was not considered a dark red anymore. How can I get rid of that?

View 2 RepliesI have a little "designing" problem in VB 2010. So, I made a cool abstract background for my application in Photoshop. And I wanted to make the form transparent and BorderLess. But, in order to imitate Windows, I also had to put in a very small black outer glow. So, I made the BackColor in a DarkGreen, then the same for the TranksparencyKey. BUT, because of the outer glow, now it looks like this:

I wanted to know how you could make your own custom form border style.
