VS 2010 - Opening Process Then Back To Focus To App
Dec 17, 2010I have Hotspot Shield and I want it to open the process, then back to focus to my application, and wait about 15 seconds and then kill the process. How do I do that

VS 2010 When Preview Pane Is Complete / Then Set Focus Back To Datagrid?
Nov 17, 2011On the left half of my screen I have a datagridview. On the right half I have a document preview pane.As I change rows on the left half, I use the CurrentCellChanged event to open the document associated to that row in the previewer.This works fine, however, the focus is then placed in the preview pane which prevents the user from being able to use the arrow keys to step down a row at a time.To combat this, I made the final event in my CurrentCellChanged routine set the focus back to my datagridview. Unfortunately, even this doesn't always work because of what seems to be a timing issue.If the document to be previewed takes more than a fraction of a second to open, the code to move the focus to the datagridview is executed but after the image completes drawing, the focus is moved back to my previewer.I don't want to use a timer to force a delay and a DoEvents causes me some other issues.Is there some other event I can use to determine when my preview pane is complete and then and only then set the focus back to my datagrid?

May 12, 2011We have a main form which opens an MDI child form. What we want is to set the focus on a particular control in the child form, namely a telerik textbox. When the form is opened for the first time, the focus is set to the textbox control which has a tabIndex = 1 as expected. If the winodw is closed (and disposed) and then reopened via a button on the tool bar that calls the same code that opens the window when the application starts, no control has focus. We have added lines such as Me.rtxtPatientId.Focus() in the Paint event, load event, and activated event handlers but still cannot get the focus to the control. The code is quite extensive so posting it is difficult. However, here is the section that opens the child window:

Feb 11, 2010I have a project in VS2008.Net3.5. I have 3 forms in total. The Sub Main() in Module1 first calls the Form1. Then Clicking Button1_Click event in Form1 opens up Form2. In Form2 I have a text box that I will fill out from Form3. But when I am Clicking Button1_Click event in Form1, it can't keep Form2 open but it opens up Form3 directly. I dont want this. I want to open Form2. In Form2 I will press the textbox and then we have Form3 open. But this is not working.==============

I knew that in Form2 the first focus is going to the textbox and it then opening the Form3 for the GotFocus method. How can I move the focus to other control in Form2 instead of the default focus to my textbox. Or is there other event method other than GotFocus?

When I open a small non child form I want to set focus back to this main form so the user can click the help button on the toolbar if necessary.
Tried frmMain.Select() and frmMain.ToolStripButton0.Select() at end of small form load but it doesn't work. The user has to click the help button twice, once to select it and once to open it. A minor problem but annoying.
Requery Form Value After Moving Focus Back From Form2?
Jan 6, 2011I have Form1 based on Table1 with unique records per employee/position. Form1 is used to updated position dates/active status/add new position info for an employee. I have Form2 based on Table2 which has unique record per employee. On Form1, I have a combo box to select which employee's records to view in the detail section. If I select a record from the combo box, the detail displays any existing records from Table1 for that employee. If I need to add a new employee, a command button opens Form2 where new employee is added to Table2, and a new record is also inserted into Table1 with the employee name and ID. When I close Form2 and return focus to Form1, my combo box is refreshed to display the employee just added, however I can't get the detail to show the new, partial record from Table1 for the new employee. Form2 is a stand-alone (not a subform on Form1).I've tried hooking Requery to OnGotFocus, but that either doesn't work or isn't activated by returning focus via code. I've tried adding a text box to the detail that contains the unique EmployeeNum and setting the control source of the text box to cboEE.Column(1) (which is the EmployeeNum bound column). Am back to trying to do stuff in code after long absence and
now feel lost in all the variations I've tried.
Delaying A Form Opening Until Wordpad Is Closed/loses Focus?
Jan 13, 2010I have a question regarding waiting for closing a window or changing focus back to my app. What i have is an app that creates a few tables, that then puts the tables into a temp file that wordpad opens for the user to check they are correct, this is where i need help, i would like to now wordpad is open wait until the user closes wordpad or changes the focus away from wordpad until i open the next form which is responsible for using the tables and converting them into xml.

For example I launch three instances of notepad then my application goes into the background. Now I want to know which application has focus. Basically my application sends messages to all the processes I launched from the application. I just don't need to send a message to the process that had focus.

Automating Process Of Opening MPP File And Saving It As CSV?
Mar 12, 2012I need to find a way to automate the process when a user uploads a microsoft project file to a web application I already have created. The process will need to basically use the save as from project to save into a .csv file so I can use this to import the data to an SQL database (this is needed for custom reporting we already have set up using SQL). I need to automate this process because I will be receiving tons of project files, and if the process is automated the users will then be able to instantly see results.
Basically, is there any way to create or run an automated process that will save these project files as .csv files? Even if the csv files are not formatted correctly, I can find a way around that, just need to first get them into .csv files. The only way I could think of this is to follow the instructions listed below, but I would then need to automate a process to open the file and hit save so this works... [URL]

One of these forms, contains Windows.Forms.LinkLabels with paths to the autocad drawing files they've attatched (.dwg). When they click on the link, I need the file to open in the existing Autocad they already have open; however, the problem is that it's opening a new instance of Autocad and placing the file into it. VS 2010 Launching New Process & Detecting If That Process Has An Error Message
Nov 19, 2011I am working on a small VB application that listens for commands sent from an Android app.
One of the functions is to extract an archive. I am familiar with how to listen for the unrar process to finish, so I can display a progressdialog on the phone while the extraction is happening, and clear it as soon as it's done.
BUT ... if there is an error/alert from WinRAR, WaitForExit() never gets called because WinRAR is still sitting there open until I click "OK" on the MsgBox.
For Example ... if you try to extract a file that is not actually an archive... an alert will pop up saying "No Archives Found", and basically everything is halted on the VB app and the Android app, and the Android app just sits on a progressdialog saying "extracting..." until you manually hit "OK" on the computer.
As you can imagine, this is a problem if the whole point of your app is to NOT have to go over to the computer.
So... I am wondering if there is something similar to WaitForExit() that will wait for an error and allow me to close out the alert and let the process end.

Is there a easy way of determining if the app has focus?
im using send keys, and i dont want it typing the keys and such, if the app doesnt have focus.
Also, if you click off of it, etc... It's more so a pause thing...
The only other way I can think of, is setting it so,
If myapp has focus, then pause the keysends.... then if it loses focus, assume the app i want has focus again.
VS 2005 Windows Services - Process Is Listed As A SYSTEM Process Rather Than A Process Under User Name

The problem i have is that even though the service launches notepad, the actual notepad it self is NOT visible. I know that it has been launced because i can see the process in the task manager. By the way the process is listed as a SYSTEM process rather than a process under my user name (i believe that is because my process is a "LocalSystem" one).
