VS 2010 When Preview Pane Is Complete / Then Set Focus Back To Datagrid?

On the left half of my screen I have a datagridview. On the right half I have a document preview pane.As I change rows on the left half, I use the CurrentCellChanged event to open the document associated to that row in the previewer.This works fine, however, the focus is then placed in the preview pane which prevents the user from being able to use the arrow keys to step down a row at a time.To combat this, I made the final event in my CurrentCellChanged routine set the focus back to my datagridview. Unfortunately, even this doesn't always work because of what seems to be a timing issue.If the document to be previewed takes more than a fraction of a second to open, the code to move the focus to the datagridview is executed but after the image completes drawing, the focus is moved back to my previewer.I don't want to use a timer to force a delay and a DoEvents causes me some other issues.Is there some other event I can use to determine when my preview pane is complete and then and only then set the focus back to my datagrid?

Basically, I am looking for a method on how to preview reports from a datagrid or it can be from the access database which populates the data to the datagrid (then displays this in the datagridview) in vb.net vs 2010.I believe there are two methods using the ReportViewer or using Crystal Reports, but so far, I have no idea how to get them to work. The first idea would be favourable - using the data from a datagridview (which may of already been sorted, filter etc) and be able to produce a report on that.

What I am trying to do basically is open an access query in a datagrid view and then be able to make changes to the datagrid and then save it back to the database.When I try to save:

Me.TableAdapter.Update(DataSet)
It says that update is not a member of the tableadapter... Why is that?

I'm working in VS 2008, vb.net. I have a data grid that is getting filled based on a store procedure. When I preview the datagrid, I will get 29 rows back. This includes rows that have NULL values in it. And that's what I need. But when I run the program, it will only return in the Datagrid 12 rows, the rows that don'r have any NULL values. Where or how can I change it so the DataGrid will show NULL values?

I am creating an app to grab data from excel and preview in datagrid. From the datagrid I want to be able to save to a sql table. I have the excel data in a gridview via a dataset. What I am having trouble with is the sql statement. I know how to insert data, but I can't work out how seperate the data in the dataset to pass it into individual Values of the insert statement. Or should it be done another way? NOTE: I is not essential that the excel data be previewed in the gridview if this would make life easier for me.

At the bottom of the Properties window in the Visual Basic 2010 IDE, there should be a brief description of the selected property. For example "Text: the text associated with thecontrol". But it's reduced to a height of 0 so far as I can tell, and I haven'tfound a way to make it visible. Right-clicking the Properties window and selecting/checking"Description" has no effect. How do I make this pane visible?

This should be fairly basic but maybe the search terms are too general to find relevant answers.I have an MDI form with a conventional toolbar. When I open a small non child form I want to set focus back to this main form so the user can click the help button on the toolbar if necessary.
Tried frmMain.Select() and frmMain.ToolStripButton0.Select() at end of small form load but it doesn't work. The user has to click the help button twice, once to select it and once to open it. A minor problem but annoying.

I have Form1 based on Table1 with unique records per employee/position. Form1 is used to updated position dates/active status/add new position info for an employee. I have Form2 based on Table2 which has unique record per employee. On Form1, I have a combo box to select which employee's records to view in the detail section. If I select a record from the combo box, the detail displays any existing records from Table1 for that employee. If I need to add a new employee, a command button opens Form2 where new employee is added to Table2, and a new record is also inserted into Table1 with the employee name and ID. When I close Form2 and return focus to Form1, my combo box is refreshed to display the employee just added, however I can't get the detail to show the new, partial record from Table1 for the new employee. Form2 is a stand-alone (not a subform on Form1).I've tried hooking Requery to OnGotFocus, but that either doesn't work or isn't activated by returning focus via code. I've tried adding a text box to the detail that contains the unique EmployeeNum and setting the control source of the text box to cboEE.Column(1) (which is the EmployeeNum bound column). Am back to trying to do stuff in code after long absence and
now feel lost in all the variations I've tried.

My problem is I have a data grid in Visual Basic, it works fine but as the columns extend past the width of the window I needed a scroll bar. This is where the problem arose. When a column past the 4th is clicked the scrollbar will shift to give it focus. As there are check boxes here they are constantly clicked and when they are the scroll bar shifts but the button isn't checked and must be clicked again. I was hoping there was a way to disable this Auto focus so clicking a column will not cause the scrollbar to move.

Datagridview . in cell validated handler and I have the column,row for the cell that I just checked on. If the cell contents are bad, I want to force the cell value to be blank and focus back on that particular cell and try again.The code i've tried simply moves to the next cell in the grid instead of staying where I want it to be. I can't get this to work. My program fills all the values into an Excel spreadsheet- no problems there. What I'd like to do is a print preview/print function. I can't seem to get my code right, all I get are blank pages in the print preview box.

I have an application which has multiple files .rtf I open it on a rich text box.

I press the button for preview and it shows me the preview. But if I change the content of the rich text box with another file, the print preview shows me empty. How I can send it to a new preview?

Can anyone provide some details on a way to have a thumbnail image of a random file appear in a panel on a form? I'm working on a project that requires this functionality when a user clicks on a item in a checkedlistbox. This way users can auto-preview a file. All code that I found applies to actual image files, so I'm getting "Parameter is not valid" errors when attempting to create a bitmap thumbnail of a text file. Would a printpreview control work? is there an option to retain Intellisense suggestions but turn off the auto-complete completely in VB 2010? Since upgrading to Visual Studio 2010, I find that Intellisense's auto-complete is far too eager to replace code. It often happens that while typing a section of code I will find that I need a new variable. Rather than back up in the code and create the variable, I want to be able to type on and add the Dim statement once my train of thought has reached a good stopping point. However, as soon as I try to use an undefined variable or method or property, Intellisense jumps in to replace what I have typed with gibberish.
I like Intellisense showing what methods, properties and parameters are available; however I would like to turn off the feature which automatically triggers auto-complete whenever I type ahead.
