View 4 RepliesDatagridview . in cell validated handler and I have the column,row for the cell that I just checked on. If the cell contents are bad, I want to force the cell value to be blank and focus back on that particular cell and try again.The code i've tried simply moves to the next cell in the grid instead of staying where I want it to be. Surely there is a command to focus and put the 'cursor' back in a particular cell.Some sample code I'm working with:
MsgBox(
"Invalid Job#, Correct or DIE!")
JLgrid.Item(0, Row).Value =
[code]....
I am having problem setting focus on specific cell in my Datagridview1 . On Form1 when clicking on cell 3 in any row, I am callig a Dialog1. However, when done working with it, and closing the Dialog1, the focus returns to cell 3 in my Datagridview1 . I like to set the focus on the next cell(4) making it the current cell.
I have tryed :
DataGridView1.SelectionMode = DataGridViewSelectionMode.CellSelect
DataGridView1.CurrentCell = DataGridView1.Item(4, e.RowIndex)
DataGridView1.CurrentCell = DataGridView1.CurrentRow.Cells(4)
And few other things, I am always getting this exception: Operation is not valid because it results in a reentrant call to the SetCurrentCellAddressCore function.
The problem is that if you never enter anything into a cell for a new row then that cell is never validated. This is a problem because I have columns that should not be null. I am doing the check in the row level validation and storing the information about which cells are empty that should not be empty. The row level validation works fine and the row level validation error indicator goes on,(red exclamation mark at the beginning of the row) but I also need a visual indicator on the individual cells that are in error.
I am thinking that setting the HasError property for the cells that are in error should cause them to display n error style (the default red border). Is there a way to this this either from XAML (perferably) or from code?Alternatively I could cause those cells to re-validate when the row editing is finished. Does anyone know how to do this?
I have a DataGridView with several columns. One column is a TextBox column named "Status". This column can only show one of three values: 'Final', 'Ready', or 'No Reportable'. I want to have some code that would turn the TextBox cell into a ComboBox cell when the user left-clicks on the cell to allow the user to choose one of these three options. When the user clicks elsewhere or the cell loses focus I want the cell to change back to a TextBox cell.
Here is what I have so far, but the code throws an exception indicated below Plus, I don't think the code would remove the combobox when the cell loses focus.

My Regex works, except if the email address entered has an underscore character (_) in it.
Because of my lack of experience with regular expressions, I'm not sure where in my pattern I'm supposed to add the offending character to allow it:
Dim pattern As String = "^[-a-zAZ0-9][-.a-zA-Z0-9]*@[-.a-zA-Z0-0]+(.[-.a-zA-Z0-0+)*." & _
"(com|edu|info|gov|int|mil|net|org|biz|name|museum|coop|aero|pro|tv|[a-zA-Z]{2})$"
He said he fixed it by adding the _ after the numeric check.
I see the A-Z0-9, but I'm not sure which is the numeric check...
I have a simple login field, which works fine with the exception of one quirk. The form is set up with the tab order to go to the UserID first and the Password text box second. This works fine when the form is used the first time, but when the form is used the second time the focus in placed in the Password field. If the form is used a third time, focus is moved the OK button, that is each time moves to the next tab order. I even tried to set the focus in the Load event as in Me.txtUserID.Focus(), but this doesn't change the behavior. Again, I should note that I close the form and not hide the form.
View 3 RepliesI have a series of DML and DDL(Drop View only) statements that I need to execute under single transaction from VB.net app. I m using commandObj, and kept above all I kept beginTransaction statement. Everything is working fine expect when error is returned by Drop statement. If Drop statement returns error then whole transaction is rolledback. I do not want tthis. I want to continue even if Drop fails keeping the other DML statements that were executed before Drop.

how to work-around this? I've tried adding a FieldNullValue attribute to the mapping class with no luck.

I am working on applying date validation to excel cell(range) from VB.NET.
Private Sub DateValidExcelRule(ByVal worksheet As SpreadsheetGear.IWorksheet, ByVal DateRange As String)
Dim dt As Date = CDate("1/1/1900")

When I enter 4 digits whole number 7777 it is validating correctly showing message Enter Valid Date, but when I enter 5 digits 77777 it is accepting the value and converting it to 12/10/2112 value and not showing any error message.
Here all I want to do is I want to validate the cell value to any date format mm/dd/yyyy.
This should be fairly basic but maybe the search terms are too general to find relevant answers.I have an MDI form with a conventional toolbar. When I open a small non child form I want to set focus back to this main form so the user can click the help button on the toolbar if necessary.
Tried frmMain.Select() and frmMain.ToolStripButton0.Select() at end of small form load but it doesn't work. The user has to click the help button twice, once to select it and once to open it. A minor problem but annoying.
I have Hotspot Shield and I want it to open the process, then back to focus to my application, and wait about 15 seconds and then kill the process. How do I do that

View 1 RepliesI have Form1 based on Table1 with unique records per employee/position. Form1 is used to updated position dates/active status/add new position info for an employee. I have Form2 based on Table2 which has unique record per employee. On Form1, I have a combo box to select which employee's records to view in the detail section. If I select a record from the combo box, the detail displays any existing records from Table1 for that employee. If I need to add a new employee, a command button opens Form2 where new employee is added to Table2, and a new record is also inserted into Table1 with the employee name and ID. When I close Form2 and return focus to Form1, my combo box is refreshed to display the employee just added, however I can't get the detail to show the new, partial record from Table1 for the new employee. Form2 is a stand-alone (not a subform on Form1).I've tried hooking Requery to OnGotFocus, but that either doesn't work or isn't activated by returning focus via code. I've tried adding a text box to the detail that contains the unique EmployeeNum and setting the control source of the text box to cboEE.Column(1) (which is the EmployeeNum bound column). Am back to trying to do stuff in code after long absence and
now feel lost in all the variations I've tried.
I have a DGV1 and when clicking on cell, I am able to execute a code in: Sub Mouse_Click()
If DataGridView1.CurrentCells(4).Selected = True then
Label1.Show()
End If
End Sub
I like to do the same thing using Tab key when a cell in my DGV1 gets focus or the Tab enters a cell. Could someone show me which Sub I need to use.
On the left half of my screen I have a datagridview. On the right half I have a document preview pane.As I change rows on the left half, I use the CurrentCellChanged event to open the document associated to that row in the previewer.This works fine, however, the focus is then placed in the preview pane which prevents the user from being able to use the arrow keys to step down a row at a time.To combat this, I made the final event in my CurrentCellChanged routine set the focus back to my datagridview. Unfortunately, even this doesn't always work because of what seems to be a timing issue.If the document to be previewed takes more than a fraction of a second to open, the code to move the focus to the datagridview is executed but after the image completes drawing, the focus is moved back to my previewer.I don't want to use a timer to force a delay and a DoEvents causes me some other issues.Is there some other event I can use to determine when my preview pane is complete and then and only then set the focus back to my datagrid?

View 3 RepliesI have a datagridview that I have put a ContextMenuStrip1 on. I would like it to remove a row in the datagridview when the row is right clicked on and they click on "delete row". I have the delete working and the menu is showing up but this isn't firing when you right click on the datagridview.

I have a custom datagridview. I have to set focus to the cell(0,0) of that datagridview when it got focus.I have tryed the following code:
Me.CustomDataGridView1.CurrentCell = Me.CustomDataGridView1(0,0)
in the GotFocus event of that datagridview.But when i run and try to enter some text in a cell, then press the DOWN button to go to the next cell but there is a NullReferenceException.

Code:
[Category("Category 1"),
DisplayName("Part Number"),
SortOrderAttribute(1)]
Dim PN1 as String

The problem is that when PN2 is changed in the PropertyGrid, it causes a refresh of all cells. Since both properties have the same DisplayName, but different Categories, the focus is set to PN1 and not PN2 after PN2 is edited.
Is there any way to remove the focus from the current cell after edit when I click the row header? I have tried various methods; repainting the row, cell, moving focus to other cell but the caret still remains in that cell.

I am trying to set the focus in a datagridview's cell after the user enters some data and tries to tab out of the cell. I can't seem to get the focus in the cell they just edited. I can change the background color, but the focus goes to the next field in the grid. I am trying to do this in the _CellValidating event. Here is my code :
Private Sub dgvFish_CellValidating(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DataGridViewCellValidatingEventArgs) Handles dgvFish.CellValidating
[Code]....
The function CheckSampleNumber() takes the value of the cell just entered, and checks to see if it has been entered either in the current grid, OR in the database.
Setting Focus in particular cell of a datagrid
I have two datagrids in my form. I want to set focus to the particular cell of that datagrid. Result of one datagrid is to be displayed in the other one.
I am having trouble setting the focus to a particular cell in datagridview.
I have a timetable and on initialisation of the program, it compares the time in the datagridview with the current time. If the time has passed, the row is displayed in grey, if not then it is shown in black. I then want to scroll through the datagridview to focus on the first black line.
Here is the

"An unhandled exception of type 'System.StackOverflowException' occurred in mscorlib.dll" with the note about infinite recursion.
What have I done wrong and how do I scroll through to automatically set the focus?
Is it possible to put the focus on a certain cell on the new row in a datagradview.
So when I add the row I can inmediately start typing?
I have a bound DataGridView where the user should enter an item number in one cell, the name of this item will be displayed in the next cell, and depending upon variables of this item number, the focus should be set to the correct cell on the same row.
My problem is that I can not seem to get the focus to the correct cell.
My code so far. I am having problems with the marked line:
