What I need to be able to do is to ping each of these machines, and then output each machine that is online to another text file called machines.txt
The files need to just be the machine name and have 1 machine per line.
I want a start IP and end IP and it to ping all the IPs between and including those IPs. I've seen examples of when it gets the subnet and then iterates through from 0 to 255 but I'm struggling with this. Is there a way to make an IP address object (is this the right word?) that iterates the same way as an IP would e.g.goes from 192.168.1.255 then would go to 192.168.2.0.

I've run into a bit of a problem using Async ping. Basically, I want to ping computers in the list before I run the next bit of my program. The computers who I can ping are added to a list and that is used in a background worker. Trouble is can't seem to work out how to wait until after pinging ALL computers in the list, either successful or timed-out. Is there something a long the lines of 'If Async Ping is running'?

I have a class that uses My.Computer.Network.Ping to get a boolean value on whether a IP address or hostname is reachable.However, when I'm testing that class, I want to disable pinging so that during the test whenever I run the My.Computer.Network.Ping it will always return false or throw some kind of exception.

The idea is when they click on a site all the details for the site are loaded and then a second thread sits and pings each device to see if its live. Im trying to do this in a seperate thread so if they click another site while its still pinging them it doesn't wait before it switches site. This all seems to be workling fine except if you click through the sites quickly, when you do that it will eventually come up with

With a Windows form that I would like to be a DDE server. I know that DDE is not natively supported in VS 2010/11 so I'm using the NDde.dll to add DDE functionality to this program.
Objective: Create a windows form to act as a Pop-up notification that has a textbox field. This textbox field must be selectable in order for users to copy a text string to the clipboard and paste into another program that does not support DDE.
Overview: A phone system has an on-screen agent program that triggers a pop-up form, the DDE Server, when an incomming call is presented. When the agent accepts the call the agent program, acting as a DDE Client, registers a DDE session, Application=phnserver and Topic=callerid. Then communicates an "OnExecute" command to the DDE Server followed by a number string. This string should be presented on the pop-up form in a text box. Once the call is completed the agent application will issue a command to close the pop-up form.

Plan is to host this server so people can login to use the the application and verify they have a valid account. I would like to host all the account information in SQL due to the possiblity of hundreds of users at any given time. I change the code to put in a loop until I pause or stop it. One issue I have found is that I can kick it off but when I close out of my remote session the application stops.

I am currently learning how to program in VB and am using sample code to make a VB Winsock client and server. I beleive the sample code was from VB 6.0. [code]Overload resolution failed because no accessible 'GetData' accepts this number of arguments.I am getting the exact same error in the exact same place in the server aswell. I have tried removing the vbString, but it comes up with a warning and the program doesn't function like it should. I am programming this in Visual Basic 2010 Express.
View 3 RepliesI just started learning VB 2010 through a book. I'm learning vb to design a program which can manage customers of a small company as a homework. It'll store data (Company Name, Phone N. and Adress) at an Access Database. (I'm using Access 2007)
I have a little background with programming but none with databases. According to the book there is no way I can delete, add or update a data from an Access Database without installing SQL Server or Express. But this program should work at a computer which may or may not have SQL server or MS Access (Any computer with Windows OS).
After a little digging only thing I could find was Walkthrough: Saving Data to a Database (Multiple Tables) from MSDN and did every step and at the end, I can delete or add rows and change values of the cells but cannot save them (when I click save, close the program and re-open it, changes are gone).
I don't get that how can I view all the data from database without SQL server but can't save changes to the database file without SQL Server.
Is there a way to do this without SQL Server? If so, can you give the right code for the MSDN Walkthrough's Save button? Or point me to a page where can i learn the right code?
