VS 2010 Resource Duplicate - Error "The Item "objx86DebugPerplexitysTorrentSearcher.Form1.resources" Was Specified More Than Once
Jul 15, 2011
I recently put one of my projects onto a memory stick to use on my new laptop which I now have. I installed Visual Studio on the laptop and opened my project. I could edit the code and it would work fine. But when I wanted to edit the actual design, it would give me this error when compiling:

I seem to have developed a strange problem with one of my projects I think this came about because a renamed a form in a windows application. Now whenever I try to run the application I get the error message: -
Error 1 The item "objReleaseDvdDatabase.frmDVD.resources" was specified more than once in the "Resources" parameter. Duplicate items are not supported by the "Resources" parameter. DvdDatabase frmDvd is the one I renamed to frmMain.Try as I might I cannot seem to find the "Resource" parameter mentioned in my IDE, VS Pro 2005,

Visual Basic 2008 rookie question. I am getting the error message 'Error 1 The item "objDebugCIT163Lab1Cdrb.WeatherReport.resources" was specified more than once in the "Resources" parameter. Duplicate items are not supported by the "Resources" parameter.CIT163Lab1Cdrb'when I debug. I am familiar with Visual Studio 2008 having used it for my previous C# course. Zipped and attached the project below. I hadn't finished the coding, but this problem seems to be of a setup nature I should either resolve before I continue or start from scratch

I'm trying to add a string to a listbox if there is none exact string existed inside, but it turns out a very weird error. Look at this.
On form_load, I have this:
AddHandler Server1.OnUserLoggedIn, AddressOf HandleUser
And then,
Public Sub HandleUser(ByVal username As String)
'Here, you handle adding the text to a text box.
Me.Invoke(New PrintMessageDelegate(AddressOf AddUser), username)
End Sub
[Code] .....
The output is when I connect the first client, it works fine. But, when I try to connect the second client, it prints out three times both the listbox1 item and the txtDisplay. It's like get caught in loop, but I have tried other kind of loops like for each and other string comparison too, still work that way.

I got an error when I tried to open the designer for one of my forms in Visual Basic 2010 express and I had the option to ignore it so I clicked that (which I regret doing so much) and now my form is erased,but I still have the code for it.I tried right clicking and selecting show designer but it just brings up a blank form. I had a datagrid control called "DataGrid1" and when i tried adding a new control to the blank form it says that "DataGrid1" already exists but it doesn't.So after I resolved the first 85 errors I got one more that doesn't make sense:
Error 1 The item "objx86DebugWindowsApplication1.frmMain.resources" was specified more than once in the "Resources" parameter.Duplicate items are not supported by the "Resources" parameter.

Error1 The item "obj\x86\Debug\MassText.MassText.resources" was specified more than once in the "Resources" parameter. Duplicate items are not supported by the "Resources" parameter.MassText.
I have one form in my project, and the project built and ran just fine until I added a method to it. There are no other errors. I tried deleting the files from the project folder it claims duplicates of, and when trying to rebuild, the files are just added back and the error is thrown again. Additionally, I have also tried deleting my *.resx files, and the project will not compile and run without them either.

How would one go about checking a listbox's items for duplicates? Basically I need to write a program that displays the teams from a text file provided by my instructor, in alphabetical order. I can do that, but what I can't figure out is how to prevent the For loop from adding a duplicate team. What I'm envisioning is:
If teams(i).name is not in lstTeams.Items Then
lstTeams.Items.Add(teams(i).name)
End If
I have a program that compiles and works so far, except for the above problem and my alphabetical order (which I can probably figure out on my own:
Public Class danbrockteams
Structure team
Dim name As String
[Code]....
This works except that my listbox is filled with the team every player is in rather than just listing all possible teams. Not exactly looking for someone to just give me the answer, as I understand things best when figuring them out on my own, so I suppose a hint is what I'm really after.

I have a VB.NET project with XHEO licensing(to license a product) and for that I am using <projetname>.PLSK file which was added to the my solution. When I tried create a new .plsk instead of existing one I got a error while building. The error is like this.
"The item "objRelease<projectname>.plsk" was specified more than once in the "Resources" parameter. Duplicate items are not supported by the "Resources" parameter.
I am sure there is only one plsk file and when I tried to build with previous .plsk file got the same error. Where is that resource parameter are stored. How to delete that?

First off if this isn't the right section, please let me know where to post or move this thread.After an hour or more of googling this specific error message I received prior to testing my program, I attempted to change my GDI max to 25000, as suggested by most of the topics I found. This has failed to solve the issue.
Basically anytime I attempt to run my program, I end up with this error "Unable to embed ... Not enough storage availavble". Or someting to that effect.

In a VB project I can add a resource via the project properties resources tab, or I can right-click the project in the solution explorer, click add, then click add existing item. What are the differences?If I want to add a DLL file and include it as an embedded resource, do I have to add the file via both methods? Only one?

Within a Visual Basic Project I have added a resource file (resx) that contains a bunch of images.Now I want to query the names of the images.If I open the resx file in the designer view in the Visual Studio IDE and select an image, the property grid shows me a name property (defaults to "filename without extension but can be changed).The background is that I have a imagelist that is created at runtime and populated with the images from the resource file. To be able to access these images by the key, I have to set it.My code looks like this (everything hard coded):
Dim imagelist as new Imagelist
imageList.Images.Add("A", My.Resources.MyImages.A)
imageList.Images.Add("B", My.Resources.MyImages.B)
[code]....
And I want to achive this:
Dim imagelist as new ImageList
For Each img in GetMeAllImagesWithNameFromMyResourceFile
imageList.Images.Add(img.Name, img.ImageFile)
Next
where Name is a string and ImageFile a System.Drawing.Bitmap

I'm pretty sure this is something super easy, but how do i access a resource that is in a separate project using the expression syntax?I thought it would be like so:
<%$ Resources:SomeNamespace.Resources.Web, PleaseSelectAnImage %>
where SomeNamespace.Resources is the project that the resources are located in.
i normally just do <%= SomeNamespace.Resources.Web.PleaseSelectAnImage%> but i need to have this inside a control. <kw:SlickUpload ID="SlickUpload1" runat="server"
ValidExtensions=".png, .gif, .jpg"
InvalidExtensionMessage="<%$ Resources:SomeNamespace.Resources.Resources.Web, PleaseSelectAnImage %>" >
so when i just do what i normally do, it puts <%= SomeNamespace.Resources.Web.PleaseSelectAnImage%>" literally.my project name is SomeNamespace.Resources. the resource file name is Web. and the key is PleaseSelectAnImage.

I have a simple windows Forms application where in I have a usercontrol called "MyControl" derived from PictureBox.
In this MyControl, I have the following code :
Sub New()
MyBase.New()
Me.BackgroundImage = My.Resources.MyImage 'This is a project resource image
End Sub
Now when I drag and drop this MyControl into a form, I get the image and also those stuff. But the problem is that the BackgroundImage is being copied into the Form's local .resx file.So when I look into the form.designer file, I find the following :
Me.MyControl1.BackgroundImage = CType(resources.GetObject("MyControl1.BackgroundImage"), System.Drawing.Image)
This is a problem and also when I try to change the image in the control, it does not get reflected in the form's control instance.

Using VB 2008:Situation: A Form1.BackgroundWorker calls a Form1.subroutine. That sub starts a Form1.Timer with Me.tmrOK_BlinkForm.Enabled = True...fires Timer code in event: Public Shared Sub tmrOK_BlinkForm_Tick(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles tmrOK_BlinkForm.Tick
Form3.Visible = True
Form3.Label1.Text = gNowButtonDispText
Form3.BackColor = Color.White
Form3.Refresh()
[Code]...
There must be a way to do this, I just need the correct BackgroundWorker Syntax send Stop commad to Form1.Timer from Form3.Click_event...all inside a Form1.BackgroundWorker thread started in Form1.
