I have a project built in VB. As any other developer I want my project to run perfectly on any computers. what I need to run my project on another computer. Like what dlls needed, how can I find them, and other things required.
View 11 RepliesI've managed to produce a simple project in vb 2010 express and to publish it onto a cd. I can install the project from the cd and run it successfully on my windows 7 machine where I developed it but trying to install it onto a windows xp machine produces the message:

Ok i got my application, put it on my other computer which has a smaller screen. And i have my controls in a panel but it still gets them chopped off by the screen. the part highlighted in yellow is the bit that gets missed off, what can i do here as i still want the search to be on the right. How can i make the controls fit in the screen even on a smaller screen.

View 4 RepliesI made one project in Vb Express 2008 on one computer in my office.I copied the Folder of the same Project on another computer at home. There I also has Vb Express 2008. The problem is that the code of project is opening like Form1.vb but the actual Form in Form1.Designer.vb is not opening in that computer. Please advise how i can open the Designer form of my project on a computer where the copy of Project folder is used.
View 7 RepliesI have developing a program on one computer and when I try to move it to another computer running vb2008 express, I always get an error message saying "the project file (directory path, project name.vbjproj) has been moved, renamed or is not on your computer." The files etc. are in the same folders as other projects that run properly. Can't figure out how to correct the path etc. or figure out why the message as the files are where they should be.Cancel the question. I found my problem and it was me that caused it.

I am having trouble opening my vb.net 2005 project from a backed up copy on a hard drive. The original files are on my old XP computer which I no longer have access to. I am trying to open the project in vb.net 2010 on Win7. I have converted the project to vb.net 2010 and when I open the file, nothing shows up, when I try to open them, it tells me the form isn't found in the project directory because it's been moved or deleted. I know that the software on the hard drive didn't back up .exe files, I'm not sure if it did back up other kinds of files. I don't want to restart the project because I've spent over a year on it and have written over 3000 lines of code on it.

I've recently started using visual basic express 2008 and am having problems with saving my project. Basically, the data sources keep dissapearing from the project when i have shut down my computer and come back to the project at a later time. This has happened to my project several times now and is getting quite irritating as i don't seem to beable to find a resolution to the issue.I could continue developing my application without having to re write the code constantly.

View 7 RepliesHas anyone else had issues with Visual Basic 2010?My visual basic program has been running fine for months but recently every time I try and load a project (any project) the program freezes, then I have to close it down and reload, every time I load Visual basic for the second time I get the following error:

An error was encountered while opening associated documents the last time this solution was loaded. Document load is being skipped during this solution load in order to avoid that error.Plus when trying to run a project in debug it takes ages to load (around 5 minutes) this has only started happening recently, projects were loading in seconds.
A colleague has written a useful tool. He wrote it as a standalone tool, but it works even better as an includable dll, though it needs a bit of other functionality for it to be a really good drop-in component. What I am wondering is whether a project can be compiled as both an exe and as a dll?
There are alternatives, such as having a dll version and an exe version, since the dll version needs to include a few different methods that the exe version doesn't need, but this alternative sucks, since it would mean changing two sets of code.
Another alternative is to build the dll, then change the exe to be a project that references the dll....and does nothing other than calling one method in the dll. That kind of sucks, too, but not as bad.
I want to be able to use his module in some of my programs, and it really should be built as a component rather than a standalone app, but I want to know whether there are other options that I haven't considered.

I have a VB.NET project in Visual Studio 2010 for an Excel Add-In.I use the "My" namespace,and in general it seems that the "My Project" folder contains configuration information about the project.My problem is that I need to change the name of this folder, because my version manager system won't accept spaces in file or folder names.Edit: There is a hacky way to do it, by renaming the folder and changing all references in the .vbproj file.However, the may work for a command line generation, but it won't work the next time the project will be opened in Visual Studio. The IDE will create a new "My Project" folder, and complain that it can't find the settings in it.

Make sure the application for the file type (.vb) is installed. I can open the forms just fine on their own--I just can't open them from within the project.
