May 22, 2009I have an application that pings IP addresses. When complete it will probably have close to 1000 IP addresses it will ping. I have a settings page that has a textbox that stores the IP address (one IP address eg. 192.158.1.1 per text box) for the object to ping. I want to be able to save all of the textbox IP address into a text file, and then be able to load the IP addresses from the text file into the respective text boxes.

Jan 10, 2010I'm building an app that is a basic daytimer type of app. My problem is that I can't get the textbox(Textbox1) backcolor and text to change when I need it to. For instance, if there are events for January 12 and the user clicks on the Jan 12 link in the Calendar control, if there are any events in the SQL table for that day it should populate the appropriate times. The funny, or not so funny, thing is that I have another textbox named "TheEvent" that I can change the backcolor and text on with the code below and it works fine.[code]...

Nov 21, 2011VBbasic 2008: I have a readonly textbox in a panel. The background color needed to be change to white for a more "readable" text. The problem is when I set the panel "enabled= false", the only control that does not look "disabled" is my textbox because it stays "white"! Even if I set the textbox to disable, it stays "white". How do you change the default backcolor of a readonly textbox instead of "forcing" it to white? Is it possible?

Normally, the box doesn't need to change color to alert the user there's a problem with the text that's inside, because the information is usually good.But there are a few phrases that need to alert the user there's a problem.
For example, if the words "Not Found AS OF:" appear anywhere in the box, I need the background to show red.Or, if the words "Letter #1" appear in the box, it needs to show red. Absent of any key words, the box is normal (white).

VS 2010 Auto-Save After Textbox Data Entered
Feb 13, 2011Is there a way to save every time the user updates a textbox on the form? My reasoning for this is I don't want to lose all information typed into the form if they were to click on the "x" to close the form. I want the form to update whenever they type so if they forget to press a "save" button (or better yet not use a save button) the data won't be lost. I can use a textbox change event handler and code to update my dataset on every textbox in the form but it seems tedious.

I would like it to populate the list box when the form is loaded, but if I have to use a button to tell it to load that is fine also.On the same form I have 4 textboxes that ask for each of the above items (name, DOB, Level, PH#) and a button that when pushed I want it to save it to the same file where the above info was pulled from in the same format.The Show Contacts button doesn't have to be used if it is not needed.

Mar 16, 2010I have been playing around with Visual Basic for about a week now. I created a program that I use at work basically just to organize my day.
The program consists of buttons that link to programs and spreadsheets that I use often, as well as a checklist of tasks I've completed and text boxes that I use for reminders. Other buttons affect GroupBox texts and Label texts.
What I'd like to know is how I can implement a Save and Load button? I'd the current state of the program to be saved so it can be loaded in the event that I have to shut the program down. (Check boxes checked, Text in Text boxes, Labels, etc...)
I've been looking online for HOURS and I've messed around with the SaveSettings feature... nothing seems to work.
