Dec 21, 2010I've got a Form with a Textbox & a button User will type a file name into the textbox & click button.Code will search for the file in a specific folder & open it, or display message "File not found".I've used Process.Start() to open which works ok but I don't know how to deal with "File not Found"

May 12, 2012When a cell in column A changes, run a macro that will search for a file at a certain folder path (including sub folders) containing what was entered into column A. It will then open that file, copy items into the rows beside where the information was entered. So far I cannot get the search for the file to open the workbook. Microsoft runtime script is included in the references.
Here is what I have so far. Which is not working except for the first sub.

Jun 26, 2011i want to create system that can search and open 1 excel file from multiple excel file.Since there are too many excel file, i create a database(using excel) which list all the excel file and sorting it by project name in which i want to retrieve the excel file through project name. this is the example database that i had create:

Mar 26, 2011The user inputs a serial number in a form, the program searches a specified text file on the internet for that serial number, and if it is there then the program runs normally, but if not it exits. I already know how to do the trial part of this program and I know that this is not secure as someone could just hack it and find the text file and read the numbers, however this is for school and is not commercial. The only thing I need to know is how to search a text file for exact text that has been inputted by the user. I've been trawling the internet and I've heard of something called instr or something, but I'm not sure.

Jun 5, 2011I'm new here, but have been in and out for a while. Past threads have been helping me along thus far.
I'm currently developing an app which essentially needs a way for me to search in a text box or file for a specific string, and extract the line on which that string appears on. It will be unique, and the syntax is the same on each line. It has basically 2 ID numbers, and is laid out like this:
123456|123456
So, I'd need to search for the first part before the |, and then get the line so I can get the bit after the |, which is the important bit for me.

QUESTION NO: 2 and so on. I would like it to display the question number in say...a textbox, along with the question and the multi-choice. And then depending on user input, says correct or incorrect.

Sep 20, 2011I am taking an Intro to Visual Basic class right now. When we do homework, we have to take it into class and put it into a folder that our professor has.When I save it onto my hard drive and I open it from Documents/Visual Studio 2010/Projects/HW Assignment 1, it opens everything perfectly. But on my flash drive, I have the same set up (E:/Homework Assignment 1) and I am not missing any files. But when I double click on the .sln file, it just seems to open the program without my project (display or code) showing.

Mar 16, 2012My question is a rather simple one and to be honest with you, I am not sure if it can be done. Lets say I have a mutli-line text box, is it possible, and if so how would I go about making it so if I clicked Open with > editor I could do things with this text, such as TextBox.text = [file contents]. I replaced the file source with the actual location of the file and got the same error. I also checked the permissions of the application to allow sharing and remove read only properties.
