I am trying to sort an array of ListViewItems, here is my code for setting is up:

I know I can have the ListView be sorted but I want the item "All" to stay at the top. I have tried sorting the array with:
vb.net
Array.Sort(ListViewItemArray)
But I get this error: "Failed to compare two elements in the array.".
I also tried:
vb.net
ListViewItemArray.Sort()
But it says there is invalid number of arguments. Is it possible to sort this array or is there an easier way to accomplish what I am trying to do?
I am trying to sort my array in ascending&Descending order, BUT im having trouble because the code to enter numbers and the code to sort the array was given to me by my professor but i changed the code to enter numbers into the array, so i think that's what messing my code to sort arrays up because the codes aren't matching up.. I'm trying to sort an array based on a structure but whenever I do this, it basically erases all the data in the entire array.I have verified that the array is populated correctly, it is when using array.sort that everything returns blank.

Here's an interesting issue:I've got a listview on a form that will load up properly, but as soon as I get my proxy (multithreaded) going, the listviewitems inside the listview suddenly cease to exist.
I'm trying to use a BackgroundWorker process to update the status on servers once a Refresh button is hit.add all ListViewItems to an ArrayList and pass that ArrayList to the worker process to update. Once it was done updating, I would clear all items from the ListView, and then refresh the ListView with the new ArrayList with the updated ListViewItems.When I get to this line of code in the RefreshListView function:

I get a InvalidOperationException stating Cross-thread operation not valid: Control lstStatus (my list view object) access from thread other than the thread it was created on.Do the ListViewItem objects have a tie back to the original ListView items when I pass the ListViewItems to the ArrayList? I just want to edit the objects in a buffer and refresh the ListView... does this make sense to do? Why can I not update the item in an ArrayList?

I have a 2 column database....looks a little something like this:
Column A Column B 972CL 86.20716105 972CL 58.71034089 972CL 64.15368376[code].....
In column A there are 5 different variables (i have shown 3)....My goal code a macro to sort these by column A, calculate the average of the corresponding values in column B and ultimately end up with 5 variables that are the names of column A. e.g
972CL = average of all the 9721CL variables 972V = average of all the 972V variables
A caveat is that i will not know the names of the variables...i'm not sure if this code below is the right way:

sorting list of files in a folder. Below is a snipet of code from a program. The logic is dependant on the files coming in in alphapetical order. I did post about this earlier but I got pulled away and did not get a chance to follow the thread all the way through. The code is complete and it works. However I know it is not guarenteed to pull in alphabetical order so as my final step I wanted to sort the list of files. I thoughr using the array.sort command might work but I am not sure how to use it.

In the past, I have learned by reading three or four other people's coding and once I gained understanding of how it worked, I could easily write my coding. I've got I will say this is a school project, so I don't expect anyone to just throw coding at me. I'd like to actually learn this stuff! I need them to be sorted so they appear like in windows explorer in win7 / vista. -- numerically and alphabetically by folder names.The folder names contain both letters and numbers, sometimes letters only or numbers only.
I have the array dimensioned as public to the form. I populate the array on Form1_Load.When I click the button btnReversingAnArray the first time all are sorted in reverse except for Wendy and it is the last item shown. ie..(The book I am even shows an image of the list Box and their example also shows Wendy as the last item)

Then I do nothing else except I click the button btnReversingAnArray again and then it displays correctly.
I'm trying to sort a range in excel 2007, copy it and export it to another workbook. I can get as far as selecting the range but, I get lost after that...I have searched a lot of threads but, just can't seem to find one that give me an exact answer.
