View 5 RepliesWhy does VS2010 only print the source in B&W? I have made sure my printer is set for color and everything else prints in color including (excuse me) VB6 code.

I have alignment issues with my application's printout. It isn't same in all computers, or printers. I want to use the whole A4 page in my app without any margin or other spaces. So I set all margins to 0.If I set OriginAtMargins to false, margins are still active for the page, or setting them to 0 is useless? The actual question is should I also set the HardMarginX and Y? I must get rid of all spaces for the correct printing.

View 2 RepliesMost of the VB.net windows application I have created so far have been working off a local server. To add a data source I click Add New Data Source and then database and then connect to the database by linking through an ODBC driver. This works neatly and places data sets that I can then pull onto forms in various formats, DGV's textbox, Combobox etc.
The application I am trying to build now links to a hosted server on the internet. For security reasons I cannot create an ODBC that connects to the database. I can use a ADO connection string and this is fine for various tasks and I know I can populate a DGV using this connection. However, it is much quicker once I have dataset that I can repeatley call on.
I have a few projects developed in VS2010 but would like to share them with a fellow programmer who is using VS2008.

I'm trying to accomplish that every time I click + on binding navigator, datetimepicker get the today date. Not only on the form, but on the binding source also. After previewing saved data, the date cell of datagridview is empty. That doesn't happen when I select wished date manually on the form, only when I enter it in code.
View 10 RepliesI'm looking to move all my code into the cloud using some sort of source control service. It must first be able to integrate with Visual Studio 2008 and 2010, and possibly other environments. Meaning something that's fairly popular among different development environments. The only source control I'm familiar with is VSS, but I think it's time to move away from that. I also prefer a free service. I know that there are only code repository services that are free, but I just don't know how that integrates with Visual Studio and source control.

View 2 RepliesI'm having some issues with grabbing the page source from a site. The page source that you see from pressing CTRL-U is not the same as what is displayed on the site - I had to use firebug to see the 'real' page source (source code changes over time on the same URL).This is what I have to grab the URL:
Private Sub Button2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button2.Click
Dim request As System.Net.HttpWebRequest = System.Net.HttpWebRequest.Create(WebBrowser1.Url)
Dim response As System.Net.HttpWebResponse = request.GetResponse()
[code]....
What can I do to obtain the same source code that firebug sees? In other words, how do I get the source code of a site after it has been php-altered?
I don't want other ppl to steal my source cu code, and with reflector you can!Is there a way I can crypt it or wahtever. So ppl cannot see the source code in programs like reflector?
View 24 RepliesI am wondering if anyone else has experienced any issues with adding a data source to a VB.NET 2010 solution using the 'Add New Data Source' wizard. I am getting a very odd behavior when i add the data source, I see a .xsd file is added in my solution explorer but I do not get a data source listed in the data source view. In short, it will add a dataset to the project but will not add an entry in the project data sources. I realize I can code to get the same results but purely out of convenience I would much prefer to just use the wizard and the corresponding table adapters it generates as I always did.
By the way, a google search shows that many people had similar issues in the 2005 version but their issues involved trying to use special characters in the project path (i.e. 'C:My ProjectsR & DMy Tool. I do not use any special characters in my project paths and yet am still experiencing this issue.
I am trying to migrate a source code from BASIC to VB.NET 2010
Dim obj(4096)
Dim strng As String
obj$ = string$ + ".obj" -> Error: Value of type 'String' cannot be converted to '1-dimensional array of Object'I can get away with this in VB6 but i can't in VB.NET.I can't convert obj using CStr either. ToString won't work because it work on the left side of an assignment.
I wanna make a software that checks for copied source code. The input will be the source code files. and then the software should check for duplication.I want to make this software to improve code assignments submitted by students in colleges.
View 1 RepliesWhat I'm trying to do is grab a specific image from the page and throw it into a picturebox on my form. This isn't difficult and I know how to do it except this time in the source of the page there is no image url yet on the page if i right click copy source on the image there is a full link to it. I am confused and not sure how I could grab that image from the 'front' of the site rather than the 'back'.
View 7 RepliesI have stumbled upon a open source ribbon control (here) that looks perfect for my little project at work.
My problem is that I cannot get it to build in VB.Net 2010 Express Edition. I created a new project with the standard form1.vb. I then added the reference to ribbon dll. But I get errors when trying to build the app. I have attached a screenshot with the error.
I'll be able to get some advice and help with regards to my question. Basically I am trying to achieve the task of downloading source code from a website say forum then using a simple parser technique remove the metadata from the uploaded data and store it into the database.
I know how to download information from a website by using the following code

Recently in an Excel spreadsheet of mine the VB command "If Opt3copy.Value = True Then Worksheets("label").PrintOut Copies:=3" has stopped working. No failure message is generated, it just seems to ignore the Copies variant and prints the default 1 copy. I am using Visual Basic 6.5 version 1024.
View 4 Repliesim trying to add a new data source to my visual studio 2010 project. As it stands my project consists of a few windows forms. I plan on making it access a database (made in access, unless this is a problem), and be able to perform pre-set queries, search/sort, and basic delete, add, edit functions. I will hopefully be later adding the function to print reports according to the database entries. However, the problem i am having is that when i go on to data sources, and click add new source, the following happens:3, it asks me which connection i will be using, i click new connection, then in the new connection dialog i choose the following : Microsoft Access Database File (OLE DB), then i browse for the database i made in the 'database file name' box, Then i delete the default username in the log in to database bit, as my database has no protection.
View 3 RepliesI need to connect to an MySQL database in my VB.NET application (VB 2010 Express). When I attempt to use the Data Sources wizard to establish the connection, it does not provide an ODBC data source. I'm using Add New Data Source/Database/DataSet/New Connection which shows the Add Connection dialog. The only options it gives me for data sources are Access & SQL Server and the OLEDB data provider. It does not appear to give me the option of adding a new data source provider. Attached is an image of my current Change Data Source dialog. Where do I get the ODBC data source provider and how do I install it into Visual Studio?

View 8 RepliesI decided it's time to migrate from VB6 to VB.NET and am currently translating my radio player but have run into several issues so I might be on this forum for the rest of the day... Anyway, in VB6 I used Inet to get the source of a PHP page that had the current song that was playing on the SHOUTcast stream. I can't seem to get Inet to work and figured I would just look for another method so I wouldn't need to pack msinet.ocx along with the finished product.
How can I get the source of the PHP page and store it in a variable or textbox/label.
