I want to add a Numericupdown to a toolstrip when a from loads, the problem is it just sticks on the end of the toolstrip. how do i get it where i want it.
if i want to do this do i have to build the whole toolstrip at run time?

How can use numericUpDown to set the Time (Hours : minutes : seconds).
I whant to use one numericUpDown.
I really want to make use of the toolstrip and databinding but these two technologies keep conflicting with each other. I think the root cause is something to with the fact that the toolstrip buttons don't recieve focus in the normal way.
I invite you to try the following:-
1. Create a form and put some text boxes a tool strip with a save button on it.
2. Write a query or sproc to get a datatable back and bind your text boxes to the field in the datatable.
3. In the code behind your Save ToolStripButton put some code that makes an arbitrary change to a field on the dataset (it doesn't matter whther this field is bound to a text box or not). eg:-
m_DataTable.Rows(0).Item("CommissionRatePerc") = "0.0000"
4. Put a breakpoint in the save and run the form.
5. Make some changes in the text boxes. Do not leave the last text box but rather click save while a text box whose contents you have edited still has focus.
6. When your code hits the breakpoint, query the value of the data table field that is bound to the text box you were editing when you clicked save - it will still contain the unedited value. Unless you do something about it that unedited value is going to get saved back to your DB.
We did get around this problem by explicetely setting the focus to another control on the form before saving. That worked most of the time because it prompts the text box to flush it's value back to the datatable (nb EndEdit does not work, although you'd have expected it to). However, and this is the reason I suggested you add a line of code that changed a value in the underlying datatable in step 3, if you change a value in code in this way before the value from the text box get's flushed back then it doesn't seem to matter what you do, the user's current edit is simply lost. They will still show in the text box, though, leading your user to believe that the change has been committed when it hasn't. Our final solution is that we never ever change a value in the adtaset in the code behind our toolstrip buttons. That's working but it's a pretty big restriction.

They all are inherited from a Base form which contains a toolstrip control with 3 common buttons for OK, Close & About.Now depending on the type of base form I would like to add few more buttons and controls on the toolstrip during the design time. View 3 RepliesI am trying to write a program which loads a tiff image on picturebox. Then the user clicks somewhere on loaded image to set the starting x,y coordinates and clicks again to set the ending x,y point. Then clicks the run button and the starting and ending x,y points are written on label.
Just to test the program a loaded a tiff image that has a dimension of 75x75 pixels. When I click upperleft and downright corners of the image, the program outputs the coordinates as starting x,y as (103,89) and ending points as (170,157). The program outputs wrong coordinates becayse the image has 75 rows and 75 colums only. To me, it should have outputted starting point as (0,0) and ending points as (75,75).

I'm trying to make it where when I click the subitem of a toolstrip menu, I can get the text I am clicking.
For example: This is my toolstripmenu, I'm trying to make it when I can get the text of what I'm clicking like the My Subscribers, My Contacts etc.

View 3 RepliesMy problem is, I just finish creating a program, that loads a picture and description of a selection from a radio button.
Everything works on MY comp, but when i go to my lil sister comp and load the .exe file there, everything works too EXCEPT the image....the error is something along the line " C:documentspictures ame.jpg" not found.
My question is: how would I store the image to the program via another file or the program itself. so that when I "build" my program, I just need to run the .exe and lets say another file "for ex: .dll ", with all the images stored inside. And I dont know how to create and work with .dll file or whatever file is more convience.
I want to have a DataGrid in a form Docked as Fill, and have it located below the ToolStrip.What I mean by Docked as Fill is I want to be able to resize the DataGrid along with the Window Form.When I select Dock as Bottom, the space between the DataGrid and ToolStrip changes as well.

View 11 RepliesI have an MDI parent screen that loads on startup and a lot of child forms that load when opening. So as the child forms load there's a lot of flashing and it looks really ugly. Once they're loaded all I have to do is use a bring to front, maximized command and it works smoother than closing a form and opening a new one every time a different form is selected. I've tried creating a splash screen, minimizing the forms on load, etc and everything still works in order so first the splash screen then the forms load.
How would you set it up so a splash screen stays on top of all other forms for like 5 seconds while the forms load in the background without seeing them load? Right now the screen shows then when it's done it moves on to step 2 which is loading the child forms. If no splash screen, how do I make it load so you don't see all the child forms opening at once?

I'am using the NumericUpDown_Validating event to cancel mouse clicks on the up and down arrows of the control.The idea is that the NumericUpDown control will stop incrementing when the base of a form reaches the bottom of the screen. That works, however the textvalue keeps incrementing. Why does the text keep incrementing and how do I stop it?

I'm using a NumericUpDown control with a Minimum set to 10 (using for font size setting). When it is changed, it is bound to an Application setting and saved. On Form Load, I am attempting to set the value of the NumericUpDown control to the value stored in that setting (14 for example). No matter what though, it doesn't use the setting's value, it uses the value of the "Minimum" property of the NumericUpDown control.
