VS 2010 Create User Controls / Save Them As .ocx Files / Use .ocx's In Other Programs On Html Pages

I've been programming in VB6 for years, I have decided to take the plunge into VB.net and C# 2010 but having a little problem understanding the big picture.In VB6 I could create user controls and save them as .ocx files, then use those .ocx's in other programs or on html pages. I am sure the same idea is present in VS 2010, I'm just not seeing it.Can anyone recommend a book or tutorial that will show me the big picture of all the aspects of the .net environment?

I have heard of setting server specs to have HTML pages parsed as PHP pages by changing the .htaccess or httpd.conf files. Is there a similar solution to have HTML pages parsed as ASPX pages?
A website I am working on does not want their PageRank to lower since their HTML pages are already indexed and used on other websites but wants to use some dynamic features of aspx pages (like include the navigation file so that changes to the nav will only have to be done in that one file).

I want to develop an application which can Write, Save, Read text files(or html files) What I want the application to do is. When I open my application I can write stuffs and then it will save it to my hosting/server. Then, the application will read the text which I already save.. So far, I can only make the application read it by using WebBrowser control and navigating it to a specified URL. Example: [URL](or message.txt) Which I modified from the website not from the application. I want to modify the text or html files from my application.

How do you write config files for vb programs? Like .xml files, Seen some examples but didn't fully grasp them. Say I had a program that launched programs and I wanted it to save the:Program Name, Program Location, Program Site, etc..So I am guessing the xml would looking something like:

how to load the settings from these configs. The reason I want to write it to an external config is because I plan to add an updating feature and I want the configs outside of the program.

I went through the application. There is no documentation present for that application . Its a huge application. It contains many directories. I think it was a team work. I am currently wokring on a project, which is going to serve as an interface for accessing various documentation and reports. It is basically just a tabcontrol with a few pages that will be poppulated with buttons which will open the appropriate document.I am trying to allow administrative users the ability to add new, edit or remove buttons which all seems relatiively simple, but have run into the problem of how to persist the changes once they are made. I'm creating a program and i want it to secretly save when the user clicks on save.
In other words, i have made it so that it saves twice. Once for the user to read (like a fancy copy) and another that the program uses to open up the form.
Currently when pushed, 2 save dialog boxes come up after each other. I don't want this to happen. I want 1 to come up (the user friendly, fancy version) which is the easy part, but i also want the other 1 to save automatically and secretly without asking the user to set the destination.

I want to build my first user control using VB.NET 2008 Express. This control would simply inherit the ComboBox and use some event handlers to do an intelligent auto-complete function. When it's finished, I naturally want the control available in the toolbox so I can add it to forms in design mode.Is there a good tutorial on how to do this with VB.NET 2008 Express? Should I create this as a stand-alone project or as part of the first project where I will use it?

Im just imagining what the things I can do to make a pdf file out of my localhost files(.php).I tried using the online conversion tools but it didnt work because they're not on the web definitely.Can you recommend me of some ways on how I can achieve my goal of converting an html table into pdf and print it using the print function in vb.net?I'm using vb.net as my interface for the database program I am making(mysql) utilizing php as the code to manipulate database. I'm making a video editor program and I'm getting kinda stumped at the save portion, I've worked with openfiledialog so I figured save would be sorta the same. What I'm doing is adding files(music,videos, and pics) to a flowlayoutpanel. I just don't know how to save those controls made at runtime, this code is my import code. My current situation: I have a scrollable picturebox (achieved using panel + picturebox). On top of the image inside the picturebox I've added labels on different locations(the labels are added on run-time using PictureBox1.Controls.Add etc). I want to save the contents as well as the image inside the picturebox.

I'm trying to create a mailitem and save it in the Drafts folder for an other user. I can create the draft but it only saves to my own draft folder, not for the other user. I have enough rights on the mailbox of the other user.

I made a custom control for my form. It's basically a custom button I made using a label.The only problem is, when I apply a myButton_Click event to the control in my main form, it will only be triggered if the control itself is clicked. The label takes up the entire form (it's docked inside it). The click event isn't triggered when the control (virtually the label) is clicked. You must click behind the label (the form's background) for the event to be triggered. How can I pass the myButton_Click event to the label so it is triggered when the label is clicked? I hope I'm making sense.

I have been asked to try and create a tool that will take an HTML table from a .html file and convert the table into an image.I am not sure how to approach this. I have tried several examples on the web, but can't seem to get any to work, like convert from base64 string into a byte array, then into a memory stream, then to image. I have also tried to use a webrequest, but cant seem to get that to work, either.

My application has a TabControl which has 5 tab pages. Each page represents a "department" and each department has to run this software. So when the user opens the application, they navigate to their department's page.
The software runs a serious of automated and manual tests. The tests are customized for each department. But I need to update the UI during each section of the test.
On the main tab, there is one panel that has 17 PictureBoxes. Each PictureBox represents one test. The PictureBox can either represent a test in progress, a test passed, or a test failed.
All of the tests are in their own code files, for the most part. And in the main form is when I call the tests and update the UI from a single method.
The issue I'm having is how to update the PictureBoxes without creating a bunch of redundant code.
When the test runs, I update the first PictureBox with "in progress", then when it completes, it's update again with pass or fail. So for a single test, I could need to place the UI update in several places, within the same code block, for planning out all the possible conditions.[code]...

My asp.net page has multiple text-boxes and DropDownLists that all have required-field validators.
My site also has multiple pages that you can move between with the click of a button. (All pages have all the buttons) When a page loads and decide I want to go to a different page without entering information into the form, I click a button to move to a separate page and the validation pops up and I can't change the page, it stops me every time?
