C# - Create Outlook MailItem And Save As Draft For Other User

Nov 22, 2011

I'm trying to create a mailitem and save it in the Drafts folder for an other user. I can create the draft but it only saves to my own draft folder, not for the other user. I have enough rights on the mailbox of the other user.

This is my test code so far:

Dim omApp As New Outlook.Application
Dim omNamespace As Outlook.NameSpace = omApp.GetNamespace("MAPI")
Dim omUser As Outlook.Recipient = omNamespace.CreateRecipient("otheruser@mail.com")
omUser.Resolve()

Mailitem.save As To Be Read In Outlook 2000

Sep 17, 2009

I have some users who uses Outlook 2007 and some users who uses Outlook 2000. The message files created from Outlook 2007 should be read in 2000. I have created a simple drag 'n' drop function in my application that copies files to a hidden folder. What I want to do is that when someone drags a mailitem from 2007 to my application, the mailitem should be converted to be readable in 2000.

I have managed part of the code, but it's not that good. I have the following: [Code] This makes the .msg file readable in 2000, but unfortunately it has a huge side effect: When someone opens it, it opens it as a new message that is ready to be sent, instead of a message that has been received/sent.

Can't Delete Attachments From Outlook.MailItem

Aug 1, 2011

My Outlook addin checks (when user click "send") if a large attachment is attached. If so it should remove it and cancel the sending and give focus back to the user.Here's a sample of my Outlook addin code...

Private Sub ThisApplication_ItemSend(ByVal Item As Object, ByRef Cancel As Boolean) Handles Application.ItemSend
Dim mail As Outlook.MailItem = CType(Me.Application.ActiveInspector.CurrentItem, Outlook.MailItem)
For i As Integer = mail.Attachments.Count To 1 Step -1

[code]....

The active mail item still shows all the attachements.How do I get Outlook to remove all the attachments (before user sends the mail) and cancel the sending?

VS 2005 - System.MissingMemberException Unhandled Exception Outlook MailItem

May 1, 2010

I'm getting an "Unhandled exception of type'System.MissingMemberException' occurred in Microsoft.VisualBasic.dll" error in this line of

oAppt = oApp.CreateItem(Outlook.OlItemType.olAppointmentItem)
The error message has additional info of:
Public member 'CreateItem' on type 'MailItem' not found.

Code in trouble is:

Private Sub Startup()

Dim oApp As Outlook.Application = New Outlook.Application()
Dim oNS As Outlook.NameSpace = oApp.GetNamespace("MAPI")
SubTwo(oNS, oApp)
End Sub

[CODE]...

The last line of pasted code is where the problem occurs. It was working previously but I'm trying to "modularize" my application by breaking the program into more manageable sub routines... this is a stripped down version of the code I have.

Asp.net - Save The Compose Message Text In Draft Automatically?

Mar 21, 2010

we have a vb.net application with send and receive mailing also. Now we have added a session timer of 30 min but the users are complaining that they are facing a problem when they write a long text message or while composing they get busy in something else and when they return back to continue composing message , they are redirected to a session expiry page, and their long text message is gone forever. So I am new to this and I was thinking like , when the user is in compose message the text should be automatically saved to drafts like hotmail.

VS 2010 - Creating A Program - To Secretly Save When The User Clicks On Save

Feb 7, 2011

I'm creating a program and i want it to secretly save when the user clicks on save.

In other words, i have made it so that it saves twice. Once for the user to read (like a fancy copy) and another that the program uses to open up the form.

Currently when pushed, 2 save dialog boxes come up after each other. I don't want this to happen. I want 1 to come up (the user friendly, fancy version) which is the easy part, but i also want the other 1 to save automatically and secretly without asking the user to set the destination.

If I run this application and point the Contact folder to my local Outlook folders, the application runs fine. It creates about 550 contact and 10 groups. My problem is when I go to run the application against a public folder that am the "owner" of with full permissions it will run fine until it hits items 250 and then I get a COM error.

Interface And Graphics :: Creating Outlook Style Navigation User Control?

Feb 3, 2010

I believe that this is in the correct forum due to it being about creating an interface item, but if I am wrong then let me know and I'll try and bring this thread to the attention of the mods to be moved to a more appropriate forum. I am currently trying to create a generic navigation control with a similar style to the outlook navigation bar. I have figured out how I would be able to dynamically create the bottom part where you select the menu option, but I'm struggling to figure out how I would be able to create the top part, which can contain any user control that the developer would want.

So basically what I'm trying to figure out is, is there a way to allow for a developer to add controls to a specific area of your user control?If there is a way of achieving that then if anyone knows how to do this;In ASP.Net you have the login controls and with one of them, you are able to have different views depending on whether the user who is viewing the web page is logged in or not. Is there a way of achieving this in VB.Net for a user control that could be set up so that I could have the developer able to switch the view in the designer to show them the view for when a specific navigation option has been selected.

The one thing that I have thought of that could possibly cause a problem is having the capability of knowing when one of the user controls has been clicked, while I haven't figured this out exactly, I believe I should be able to achieve this by having an event for the navigation user control that provides the developer a reference to the control.

While I would hope that I have explained what I'm thinking well, its before my first coffee of the morning so I might have missed out some detail which would help someone to help me if I have then please let me know and I'll provide any details required.Also if what I'm envisioning is Pie in the sky, then let me know and I'll just have to make a base which I would just have to make a more bespoke system.

Return Primary Email Address Associated With Logged On User's Current Outlook Profile?

Dec 6, 2009

I know, it's a bit weird asking for a query to tell me my own email address right, I'll explain further...

I'm writing a COM add-in for Outlook 2007. One of the subs generates and sends an email to a particular address and this all works fine.However I have a need to have an option for the sender to be able to include themselves on the recipients list.As more than one person will be running this I cannot just set the sender's email address manually and would prefer to just add a check box on the form to enable this feature.

The only bit I'm stuck on is working out how to find the email address of the person sending the email. I could do it with an AD query against the logged on user but this needs to work for non-domain users also so need another method.
