VS 2010 Created New Class And Require Text-box Field Within A Sub In New Class
May 9, 2012
can someone please help me with a textbox? I have created a new class and require this textbox field within a sub in the new class but i get Error1 'TextBox1' is not declared. It may be inaccessible due to its protection level.I have tried MyClass.TextBox1 = Form1.TextBox1 but I get declaration expected.
I'm not sure that I'm doing the right thing here..I'm writing a user control that's supposed to be (fairly) generic. It's a bit like a modified email client specifically tailored to some of the internal things we do.
The view is composed of two main pieces, a message list and a viewer. I need this viewer to be interchangeable, so if someone wants a different style of view they can simply handle an event and change a property. My original idea was to just have an INoteViewer, but since I'm adding it to my form I also need to guarantee that this object is a Windows.Forms.Control of some sort.
Should I continue along these lines and maybe raise an ArgumentException if I can't cast it to INoteViewer, or should I go a different direction and create a class that inherits from Windows.Forms.Control?
I want to read a number of items from a file and then associate each of those items with a new button at run-time, so that when the user clicks one of the buttons I can display some information about that item. Can I use a LIST to manage these buttons and items? Can I create a new class and have each list item of that class, such as 'btnID', 'btnText', etc... ?
If Class X is within the scope of Class Y, is X a subclass of Y?If Class A is a sub Class of B, then is Class B considered a super class of A?if Class C inherits Class D is Class D a superclass or parent of Class C?if Class E extends Class F then we can consider Class E a child of F?if Class G inherits Class H and is within the scope of Class I then who is the parent of Class G? Classes that inherits Class J and classes that are within Class J are all sub classes of Class J?
I have put this code in the global form Inherits System.Windows.Forms.Form. And then in the form that will inherit this from the global Inherits MenuStrip. "MenuStrip" is what the global form is called. But keep getting this error: Error1Base class 'MenuStrip' specified for class 'Lesson2' cannot be different from the base class 'System.Windows.Forms.Form' of one of its other partial types.
I'm trying to get the ATM Class to Instantiate on the Form class.
[code]...
ISSUE = " 'ThisATM' is used before it has been assigned a value. A Null reference exception could result at runtime"
The Other problem i am having is with a class in the program called CardReader. What am i supposed to type to let the code below be able to "read" the read function on the Form1?
Haven't coded in a while, and ran into a wall when setting up my program data structure
So I have something like this in a class file;
Public Class X Public Stuff as Integer Public Stuff1 as String
[Code].....
I want to structure my program this way, what's the best way to go about that?
I want to access multiple data types in the same array from within a class, as it should be a subset of my base class etc... and want to be able to change the size of the array
Or is this class array within class nesting a dead end?
I want to create a class that will "search" for something. Basically I load up the "search item" when the class is created and inside the class is logic to do the "search". The result of this logic will be more "searches" that I want to start. How can I have the logic in the class create another instance of the class itself?
I need to convert the following code, so that it exists as a created class "Payroll" that utilizes "Get" and "Set" elements. Unfortunately, I'm completely lost.
Public Class frmPayroll Private Sub frmPayroll_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
It is in the file ClientProfile I have placed in both App_Code and also App_Code/Models
In my code behind I have the following
[CODE]...
The last word, "ClientProfile" has the scary squiggly red line below it. It is not recognizing my class.Even the Intellisense is not picking up te class. Do I have to register the class file in any way?
How to get this "Blabla" to my application?Dim rx As New Regex("(?<=<h1 class=""" & Regex.Escape("mf_dI mf_Hblack mf_vmi") & """>).+?(<=</h1>") MsgBox("Name: " & rx.Match(WebBrowser1.DocumentText).Value) but it don't works.
And. How to get picture from website to picturebox if this picture is in the table like <table style="background:url('/blabla.png') no-repeat"> ??
I wrote a quick and dirty web service in VB.NET. And as it always goes, I want to move it to production, but don't want to use the name Service1 for the public class. When I change the name I get an error when trying to reference it. I know there is somewhere else I need to change the class name, something in the code behind but I can't find where it is.
I get the following error when trying to compile the simplest prpgram. Error 1 Class 'CLSID_CorSymWriter' could not be created: System Error &H80040154& After looking at other stuff on the net I removed VB 2010, VB 2008, any C or C++ runtimes and any .NET Framework programs I could find, and then re-installed VB 2010, but the problem still persists.
Dim a as Type=GetType(className) would gimme the type. But I have only the name of the class as string. I want something like GetType("class1") which would return the type.
Are DLL files created by creating a Class file in VB ? If not, what are their purpose ? If I were to create a class that held the functions I needed for my program to function, would the class file compile with the assembly as a DLL ? Do I have it all wrong ?
I have an app (vb.net) that sues multi threading and have tow problems.
1. The program is used for trading currency markets and mointers prices all day. When a signal is generated it wil place a trade in a new thread. In the new thread it checks to see if a trade is on already and if so it will not place another trade. The problem is it can be too fast and place another trade before the server has processed the first trade. So trade count returns 0. As the system watches 6 accounts I can not just pause the other thread to make sure it has finished before trying ot place another trade. How to i check to make sure the first thread is finished so when i check for trade count it retuns 1?
2.The new thread is inside a class and has a logging class as well. The problem is writing to the text box on the main thread. As the logging thread is created in the new thread it has no access to the textbox. I have tried using invoke but it still does not write to text box as it does not exist in the new thread. How do i reference a form from a class that was created in a new thread?
I have got a class which contains more then 160 fields. i need the name of fields (not value) in an array. get loop through names for field or get list of field names in a array so that i can loop over it and use it in code. i am using visual studio 2010
I've created a custom class that I've grown rather dependent on in my coding. I've encapsulated it as it's own "Solution" and use a reference to the class module within the solution on most of my new projects, and that all works fine. It seems slightly clunky to me that my encapsulated class module is packaged with solution-related directories and so forth. For me, this seems to make management and maintenance of these little class modules difficult (renaming them for instance). So now, a few questions:
When you recognize you have a useful class embedded within a solution: 1) What's your method for encapsulation? (is there a template you like?) 2) How do you organize/arrange your code libraries? 3) When, if ever, might you consider using that "Code Snippets Manager" thing in the IDE?
I'm struggling a bit trying to understanding how Visual Studio wraps-up everything in what appears to be a "Solution" umbrella. There doesn't seem to be a lot of write-ups on how to go about organizing your code libraries to work well within this Solution/Project Visual Studio framework.
I have created a class which generates a form in code. I have hooked up the buttons and a text box so that they work. Now, I am trying to hook up the Resize event (and probably will need other events) for this form. How do I do that? If I can understand how to do it for the Resize event, I should be able to apply that to whatever other events I might want to use. I can't just put "Handles frmMyForm.Resize" or "Handles Me.Resize". I get the message "Handles clause requires a WithEvents variable defined in the containing type or one of its base types." This all has been a learning experience.
Is there an explanation for this limitation? I mean, it's still in the constructor for the object, and the base class constructor is still executed first.
I have a class, MyClass, declared as public, with a Shared method test():
[Code]...
If I comment out Response.Write MyClass.test(), everything works fine and I can use the Class - however, trying to access the Shared method, I get the following error: Local variable 'myClass' cannot be referred to before it is declared Any pointers as to what I am doing wrong?
I have an 8 bit digital output board used for device controlling. Each external device needs one bit and is controlled by a different application.I have written a class library and the class DigitalOutputPort (VB 2010) that envelopes the driver that manages the 8 bit port. Each device application uses this class, creating its own instance.
In order to set a bit of the digital output port, I have to write a byte to that port: this byte is the bit mask for all 8 bits together: to set HIGH the bit number 0 - 1 - 2, I have to write 7 on the port, to set HIGH all 8 bits, I have to write 256, and so on...
All works fine when only ONE application uses the class. But if two applications want to set its own bit on that port, I get problems because I do not know the current value of all bits set by other applications (the driver has not such function) and, of course, I cannot change one bit without changing all the other (if I do not know the current bit mask)
Normally this looks like a typical case of sharing data between two application and my first idea was to write the current value of the port in a file on the disc, where all application can access and read it. But it seems to be too much heavy for this simple problem. Moreover it could also creates performance ans reliability problem.
Then I though about using a shared field (property) in the class. A shared field preserves its value between all instances of a class: but is it also true between instances from different applications? I cannot find more info about this last point, I have to make same test.
A third way would be that I create just only ONE instance of the class DigitalOutputPort, one for all applications. The first application that needs it, create the object, all other applications will used the already created object.I like more than other this way, but I do not know if and how it can be done.
I didn't think this would be a problem, but it appears that others also search for this solution. There is an annoying DING! when hitting the Enter key in a ComboBox in VB.Net so I sought solutions. Here is the solution I am working with. I created a new seperate Class within my Project...
Public Class ClasscboBox Inherits ComboBox
[CODE]...
Looks good, but I am having a problem calling it from the main project. Here is what I have tried using...
Dim objcboBox As New ClasscboBox objcboBox.OnKeyPress(KeyPressEventArgs)
However, it says thatKeyPressEventArgs is a Type and cannot be used as an Expression. I tried 'e' but no go. I am a little ahead of my classes (no pun intended) so I am likely missing something about what I am doing wrong.
I have three comboboxes so I though this would best suit my needs in the interests of writting decent code and not populating each call with repeating code.
I have created an application where from the starting class a modless dialog box is called. Once the dialog box is called then the program will close instead of waiting on the dialog box to call the appropriate functions.
A couple of notes: This was originally written in VB 2005, and I was successful by manipulating the automatically generated code for the starting and clean up for the class. I cannot find this section of code in my VB 2008 project.
I cannot start the program from inside the dialog box, since there are multiple dialog boxes and which one starts depends on what is currently running on the computer.
The program will run with a modal dialog box, but it does not function properly, so I must use modless.
Please help me to prevent the application from closing when it reaches the end of the code in the main subroutine. I want to have a function to explicitly close the application.
