Yup,not PHP but it's the same for readability)As you may imagine I want to make a simple text based rpg game, but that's not an important fact.The buttons btn1 to btn3 are already created at the designer, and there are going to be other procedures which will assign values to their text property according to the game context (main menu, combat, shopping, training, etc.) you're at.Ok, so what I want to do with that procedure I pasted is to parse the text of ANY of those buttons when I click them, and according to its value select a case which will trigger another appropriate procedure (now there are only msgboxes as placeholders for testing only).My problem is that I dont know how to refer to the originating class of the handled event! I mean, let's say I click btn2. I'll want to immediately get the text property of that button only and use it as the value for the select case tree. I suppose I need to put something at that ?I wrote there, but I don't have any idea. The first time I was so naive to put me.text in there, and of course it returned the form name. Is there's something to do this thing...? I thought at first it would be a very simple task, but I'm going nuts searching for a solution so it's like if it was not possible, but I find hard to believe that, because this would be very useful, right? By the way, what I want to achieve is not needing to make a separate procedure for each button and to avoid as well the need to move any game option to another procedure if later on I want to rearrange the menus, because I expect the game to have more than three buttons actually.

I would like to display 2 forms side by side. Frm1 will call Frm2. The problem is, if Frm1 is too near the edge of the computer screen, when Fr2 is shown, part of it will be outside the screen. How do I make it so that if Frm1 is near the right-side of the screen then Frm2 will show on the left-side of Frm1 and vise-versa?

into the application by the user via another textbox.For example, if the user wants to evaluate the following expression,

then they would input into the textbox the RHS of the equation

Long time since I was active on this forum, but I recently picked up VB.NET again. I'm working with VS 2010 Express now, and I want to create a little app that resides on the side of my screen (about 40px wide), to collect data.
I've seen this program, Trillian, 'docking' to the right side of my screen, thereby making the maximized size of all windows just as much as the space left of the application window. In other words, even if I maximize other programs, the Trillian application stays visible at all times, on the right side of my screen.
Now I was wondering, is there any similar effect possible with VB.NET?
Im learning Visual Basic 2010 on my programming class and we reached the part of file handling. Here i tried to make a simple program that can create a text file with the content of what i type on the textbox, basically i create the file if it doesn't exist, and if it already exists i append the content to it. Once the file is saved i can read it using the "Open" button. Unfortunataly, whenever i try to create the file, the compiler gives me an error saying that it cannot modify a closed file, although i've followed up the execution instruction by instruction and i can't find the error.

We are trying to let a hedgehog walk from behind a bush, towards the other side of the screen. The code we are using is:

It does move on the screen to the left, but the problem is that the picture keeps flashing while it's moving, so it's like its extremely bad quality.

So I'm hoping their is a simple way to accomplish this task. Basicly I want the screen to fill reguarless of your screen resolution with the background image coded in the source code. I know the picture will look funny on large resultions but its a sample code Im making, so i'm not worried about streatching a image.My thought was do something to detect window bounds or something.

I am currently working on a application with consists of two AppBars (GUI-wise and client-side). I would like to give the user the option to hide/show both AppBar. I am using the standard app bar code as described, for instance, here:[URl]...how this is possible? It would need to be a function like minimize/maximize for standard windows forms, except I am using AppBar windows (don't ask why, I have inherited the code).

I have seen many videos and things on how to make one, but all of these just take multiple pictures and then don't compile them into a movie file, and I don't want to take many pictures (unless that is the only way possible.) I am using Visual Basic 2010 Express and I have looked at the Windows Media Encoder, but I can't seem to figure out how to use/implement it (yes, I have downloaded and installed it.) View 3 RepliesI'm currently trying to write a really simple game on which the player has to pursuit some figures on the screen. Since i'm just writing the prototype version i'm using a Panel wich i redraw 1000 times per second. Now, i want that every level is similar but not the same as past level, so i created a Level Class that contains the game objetcs of Player Class and the Figure Class, wich are the ones that have all the movement subrutines. So, with a Timer, 1000 times per second, i get the input from a joystick, pass it to the player objetc and update the position of the figure object. All this stuff is reported to an internal Panel that every level object has, wich i refresh and then pass it ByVal to the panel that the player actually sees. The problem i have is that after the first level ends, when the second level starts running, i can see the last frame of the fisrt level flashing behind the figures and it makes the game run a bit slower after every level. I tried keeping a copy of the inicial state of exterior panel and use it to clean the one i'm using on the levels but it didn't work...

I need to send back the id, the old value from _1 and the new value from _0 back to the server. What is the best way to format this data so I can easily extract the data from the server side so I can easily email someone for example to let them know which textboxes have changed, what the old values were, and what the new values are
At the serverside level, I am using .NET-3.5 (VB). I know how to send the data bacl. and how to email the data, I just wanted to know how to best format the data at clientside before sending it back. I could have upto 50 sets of id, old, and new values to send back. Sorry for not making that clear earlier.
