VS 2010 - Show A Popup / Message If The File Does Not Exist Instead Of The Typical "Unhandles Exception Has Occurred"
May 30, 2010
1) Ive put the code to execute a file, it works fine but i want a way to show a popup/message if the file does not exist instead of the typical 'Unhandles exception has occured, system cannot find the file specified.' My code is below, i dont mind using a differend code as long as it opens the file Program FilesInfinity SoftwareAeroCrash Apps11.acep
I want a message box to show when a username doesn't exist. I figured this would work but an error shows saying 'FileNotFoundException was Unhandled', for the fist line.
Dim UserFile As New System.IO.StreamReader(sPath & "" & UsernameBox.Text & ".txt") Username = UserFile.ReadLine Password = UserFile.ReadLine
I have Requests for VB(2005) very very important for my selly project!i need a button that determine if file exist and if that file exist then show a messagebox!and if not show messagebox!.
im trying to make a popup blocker type message box that pops up when a popup tries to load a page, and it asks The page [URL]is trying to open, open in a new tab?
(label) No (button) Yes (button)
how would i make a menu appear when i click somwhere on the page, how would i make it recognise a picture, and be able to copy it to a location on the local drive?
I'm trying to get a save file dialogue to overwrite a file with the same name.
Private Sub Button6_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button6.Click If RadioButton16.Checked Then
[code]....
I keep getting an error saying "Unhandled exception has occurred in your application." Then the next paragraph says "The process cannot access the file 'E:Copy of Release+Fontsob.txt' because it is being used by another process."
I'm converting another project from VS2003 to VS2010 and am getting this message in the Immediate Window before I hit my MyBase.Load. From the warning, it looks like somting is undefined yet is being used - causing an exception. How can I trace this down?My app uses 2 DLLs, could the msg be coming from them during their load?
im trying to generate an error message to the user to let them know a file doesnt exist. So far ive got the user to enter the file name into a textbox, they click search and if successful will load a new form with a PDF file reader built in( AxAcroPDF1 )everytime i enter the right file name i get the file loaded, if enter the wrong name the File page still loads with no pdf and no message saying file doesnt exist.
Private Sub PictureBox1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e
I'm trying to use the WebKit-component ([URL]) in VB with the help of Visual Studio 2008. This is running without problems, except for two following two issues:
1. Hints/Tooltips are not shown (e.g. as there usually will appear one if you stay with the mouse over the Google-logo)
2. If there's a popup-window, I don't know how to get the new desired URL.
when people first run my program (as in the FIRST EVER time they run it), I want a window to popup (Form4). In this Form you have to locate a directory to a certain program (my program uses this program) and press OK, and then that will generate a .txt file with the directory to the program. (So that my program knows where that program is located.) Now, what I want it to do is when you open up the program, upon load (Form1), I want the program to check if that text file (directory.txt) exists. If it does and the path in the file is correct, the program will run fine. If the text file is missing and/or the directory doesn't exist, it will bring you back to Form4 (assuming that this is your first time running the program since the directory.txt file doesn't exist).
I have a large project where we have 2-3 dll projects that are converted from VB6 to VB.NET. We have fixed all the issues that caused compilation errors, and most of obvious issues in running, so now we have basically a program up and running. The exe is created from scratch in VB.NET, using a lot of functionality from the converted dll's (including GUI forms). What I wonder is when I run the program in debug mode, I get a bunch of warnings in the "Immediate Window" saying:
A first chance exception of type 'System.Exception' occurred in Microsoft.VisualBasic.dll
...and some of other type (but most of them in Microsoft.VisualBasic.dll).I was wondering if this is common in projects converted from VB6, or if it is caused by bad design in our code...
I am facing another error "An error occurred trying to load the page. Member not found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80020003 (DISP_E_MEMBERNOTFOUND) )" performing the following scenario:- Opened a sample VS 2010 WPF project that I receiveved from a co-worker (Project compiles, and run on his machine)I tried to open project properties (Project --> Properties)The project properties panel/window didn't open, all it had was an error symbol (red/white X) and the error message above(HRESULT: 0x80020003).I am unable to view niether the designer window nor the code window (no messages are reported) but the pane where the code/design shoud display is empty, all you can see is the background color.
I have a textbox1 and button1 and panel1 (which is used as a popup control)i want if textbox1.text="show" then modalpopup control whose id is panel1 will be visible on buttonclick event other wise .... modal popup control panel1 will not be shown ...how to do this ? using vb.net ?
Working with an If statement I have tried the following
If -0.6 > (LLum_Gline(8).X - LLum_Gline(12).X) > 0.6 Then patient_frm.llum_gline = 2 MsgBox("Measurement is Abnormal") End If
I am getting an error message that says Argument out of range exception unhandled. I have double checked and verified that LLum_Gline(8).X and LLum_Gline(12).X are in fact valid. Is my problem simply in how i am phrasing the If statement. Is there a way for me to phrase what im doing without writing multiple if statements?
An unhandled exception of type 'System.IO.IOException' occurred in mscorlib.dll Additional information: The process cannot access the file "c:Fax524b2cfa00.tif" because it is being used by another process.
I wish to add refrence with a dll file. But it fail,it show message 'Make sure dll file is valid assembly or COM component '.I also try use regsvr32 to register it,but also fail.
I've just recently started noticing this crash as my program has gotten more complicated. I have a few lines that look like this in my program: Dim alines() = System.IO.File.ReadAllLines("C:deviceinfo.txt")
The problem that I am seeing is that my program is updating these files every second, so sometimes the files are being appended and or just being replaced as it is trying to run this line. Receive the error, "File is in use or does not exist." Is there anyway to put a line of code that tells the program that if the file does not exist to check again till the file does exist.
Sort of: If System.IO.File.exists(cstr("C:deviceinfo.txt")) then Dim alines() = System.IO.File.ReadAllLines("C:deviceinfo.txt") else loop endif
Or I read somewhere that you can use: If Len(Dir("C:deviceinfo.txt")) < 0 Then or If Dir("C:deviceinfo.txt") <> "" Then
Maybe: Loop while Len(Dir("C:deviceinfo.txt")) < 0 else Dim alines() = System.IO.File.ReadAllLines("C:deviceinfo.txt") next
I realize the danger of having a possible never ending loop in the program, but I cant think of another way to have the program wait for data and use the data immediately as it becomes available. I looked into having a wait() sub or to do system.threading, but my rational behind not using those are because waiting for 200 ms doesnt ensure that the data actually shows up, I could still receive the error.
How to make when they start the program if they dont have the file (config.ini) the program auto to create it , and how to make what to be put in the config.ini
like: Config.ini: // This is program for... // site and other stuff
I've spent a substantial amount of time trying to figure this out, but I keep getting the same error
A first chance exception of type 'System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException' occurred in System.Data.dll A first chance exception of type 'System.NullReferenceException' occurred in project1.exe
This happens when I try to use the DataReader.my code is
Public Function Identification() As List(Of Integer) Dim returnIndex As New List(Of Integer) Dim dbCount As String = "SELECT Bookingid FROM bookdetail WHERE Date =" & getCurrentTimeString() & " 12:00:00 a.m." Dim count As Integer = 0
I created a simple program which basically launches programs installed on 32-bit system in the C:Program Files directory. I purposely put an .exe line of code in the compiler but that .exe wasn't installed on the system, I was expecting for an error when I tried to click the launch button and I did. NOTE: I already have a beginning If statement and that program is actually installed in the system, works perfectly no errors appearing.
ElseIf lstMultimedia.SelectedItem = "HyperCam" Then Process.Start("C:Program FilesHyperCam 2HyCam2.exe") 'this program doesn't exist in the system"
When the error appeared I looked at it in detail and found it was a system.componentmodel.win32exception type of error, I'm guessing that means a file doesn't exist in the directory I specified therefore the program displays an error. Now what I want to do is display a message box saying along the lines "This program cannot be found in your system" or something like that. But I don't know what the actual syntax/code for it, so far from thinking I have this.
Else : lstMultimedia.SelectedItem = 'no idea what to put here Then MessageBox.Show("This application cannot be found in your system or is installed in a different directory", "Error", MessageBoxButtons.OK, MessageBoxIcon.Error) End If
I have a VB2008 with SQL2005 MDI application with multible forms, and Form1 has serveral Textboxes, and Textbox1 is binded with SQL database Table1 Column ID, what I want to do is when try to save data if ID xxx aready exist then it spit out a message (ID already exist.)
I am trying for a message box to pop up but this code gives me always "Absent". Dim time As Date Dim CurrHour As Integer Dim CurrMinute As Integer time = DateTime. Now CurrHour = time.Hour ' Get current hour value CurrMinute = time.Minute ' Get current minute value [Code] .....
I am experiencing a problem when trying to convert a rather large VB6 application into a .Net 2005 application. Everytime I try to convert the project I get the following error: "Upgrade Failed: Exception occurred: Can't use character device names in file names"The weird thing is i have tried to convert the project using .Net 2003 and I do not get the error, it does convert.
when doing the exact same thing on a diffrent pc it give me "An exception occurred during a webclient request." even in debugging.the first way is the regular "my.computer.download file" and the second one is:[code]
I have a problem whit the webclient request. It work great on my pc, but my pc alone. It just says "an exeption occured during a webclient request." I thought it was the user-agent header.. but now when I have that, its the same.
