I have yet another Problem with the save button on my form. After filling out all the textbox's, Selecting the date from dateTimePicker Selecting comboBox's Items I get an Error message saying: "Column 'JobID' does not allow nulls". "(I thought this ID column Inserted a number automatically").

My project is using Visual Basic 2010. I have a pure text save file with the following format:

I'm trying to load the data by using the first column as the object name and the second as the value. I've had some success with the following (skipping some basic IO lines):

I have a problems with this because I have some objects in panels or group boxes and Me doesn't reach into them.
Is there a way to just strictly reference an object with a variable? I'd love to assign the first column into prop(0) and just say

I am working on an virtual operating system. And I want the user to be able to change background, and at the same time save it! So, the next time he opens the application, the background is saved and changed.
I know that I have do this through project > settings, but I don't know how to program it. I have managed to allow the user to change background, but dont how to save it. Could anyone solve this little problem for me?

I have to make a calculator for school but I'm in a big dilemma. :( The thing is, I have this calculator with three textboxes and of course digits and operators. There's two input textboxes, txtInput1 and txtInput2 and then there's the buttons from btnZero to btnNine. My operator buttons automatically do the calculation and the output comes in txtDisplay which is disabled (so that you can't write in it).
And the problem is here, I want my btnZero to btnNine move their textvalue to my txtInput1 and txtInput2 as long as they are selected (so the cursor is blinking in it). Now I use "txtInput1 = txtInput1.text & btnZero.text" sure that works, but only for one txtInput. If I can't solve this I'd have to make all the buttons twice. ;( (Edit: If I press my operator button then "txtDisplay.text = (txtInput1 "operator" txtInput2)")
at the Moment in my code I have the words("C:PrivateWords"). and that is where the Username & Password is Stored/kept, But is there a way to store the Username & Password into the Programe. ect... in a form that only the owner of the programe can see. And what would you use on that form ie: listbox, textBox multiline, TableLayout Panel, that if it is possible to create a Form.

We are testing the visual basic 2010 ee in one of the computing suites at a secondary high school. The installation was fine When we tried opening or saving a project it saves it into a default location i.e my documents. The problem withthis is pupils dont have access to c:. They their own drive on the network (h:) where they save their work. When i went and changed the settings in VB in tool > options.

I am just wondering how I can add Direct X references to Visual Basic in Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2. I cant find them in the .NET reference list, or the reference list, or anywhere. I downloaded the Direct X SDK for August 2009, but I can not add the .dll files to the reference list. Is there anything I can do to add them? I need the references for programming reasons.

View 14 Repliestrying to save the settings in a settings form but every time m setting the settings (when the form is running) then exiting it and then reopening itare the settings that i setted not there Ex : I open form2 by clicking on a button thought form1 and change the settings for example i uncheck a checkbox then do i close form2 and then open it again. And the settings should be saved so the unchecked checkbox should still be unchecked.BUT when i close form1 should the settings be unsaved and go back to normal :)

I am learning visual basic. I have created a form for a calculator. I have placed buttons for plus, minus, division, multiply etc. The programme is working for clicing on buttons i.e. when I want to add two nos. I accept 1st no. from text box then I click on "PLUS" button then I accept 2nd no. When I click on "Equal" button the result is displaying on textbox. But I want to write code insted of clicking on "PLUS" button if press " + " key on keyboard and for "Equal" button, if I press " Enter " key on keyboard, The result for adding two number should display on textbox. I want code for both click event and keypress event.
