Dec 13, 2011I am working on an assignment, so need to pass the file to the instructor. I thought I remembered a way to input a placeholder character(s) that tells the computer that the path is flexible until the point where I declare the actual path.
For example: if the directory is C:documentsMyProjectinDebug on my machine, and is F:usersownerclass assignmentscis101StudentAMyProjectinDebug on the instructor's machine, can I put a "wildcard" type of character that points to the ...MyProjectinDebug file that will work on both machines in the Initial Directory property?

Jul 6, 2010I have an open file dialog that shows when a button is clicked. Last night it was working fine. This morning I am testing some code and when I click the button to open the dialog the entire form is blank accept the dropdown for filename and the ok and cancel buttons. What happened? I have tried deleting the dialog and the put it back but it still does the same thing.

The program I'm working on is an alarm clock, so that may give you an idea of the problem. Basically, I just want the user to be able to select his/her own song to play when the time comes. So, the user clicks on a button, and an OpenFileDialog pops up. The user selects an audio file, and then that file is going to be the file that is played when the alarm goes off.
I'm not near my Microsoft Visual Studio at the moment, so I didn't have time to test it, but here is a code that I think may work:

VS 2010 - Add Support For Unrecognized Files To OpenFileDialog?
Mar 21, 2011I am working on a project which use files with a .HRZ extension. These are image files with a simple red, green, blue, red, green, blue structure. There is no header of any kind. I know how to display these files in a picturebox or convert them to a bitmap, but of course Windows 7 does NOT know what they are, so just shows a blank icon in the OpenFileDialog. How easy would it be for me to add support for this file format to Windows and/or the OpenFileDialog so I can show a thumbnail of each file? I can create my own file browser but I would really like to use the OpenFileDialog if at all possible.

Aug 5, 2011Does anybody know which version of Visual Studio 2010 contains the full set of Visual Basic SharePoint Templates? I am about to embark on a project to create Visual Web Parts to be used in a SharePoint report.
At the moment I am using Visual Studio 2008 and even though the WSPBuilder is installed none of the relevant SharePoint templates are present.Having searched SO and the web, most advise to install the templates via the Visual Studio command prompt: devenv /installvstemplates
Alas the Visual Studio command prompt is also missing from my VS2008 installation.So, the question remains: which version of VS2010 contains what I need for pain-free SharePoint development? There is a rather large price different between VS2010 Professional and VS2010 Premium, so can anyone tell me if the cheaper version (VS2010 Professional) contains all the Sharepoint templates?

I downloaded the Direct X SDK for August 2009, but I can not add the .dll files to the reference list. Is there anything I can do to add them? I need the references for programming reasons.

Jun 3, 2010I'm working on a project started in VB9 (VS 2008) and now I've migrated to VS2010 (VB10) but on the production server the IDE is still VS 2008. On my developement enviroment the code compiles fine, but sometimes, - let's say - I forget an _ at the end of the line which causes the VB9 compiler to throw an error.So the question is, how could I build a project with the VS 2010 IDE but VB9 compiler? Or to force the VB10 compiler into VB9 mode?

Jan 16, 2011Now I'm at the end of the first part of my project and now i need to print a voucher with few pre-printing words and 7 fields that comes from a dataset.I try to use *rdlc file on which i made all the necesary layout very good, and the link was very good as well But print NO I did something in *.xaml file very dificult to put controls and make the links.But lets say i will do it, for the moment i have a picture and a label with few words, and I'm trying to print it with the following lines
