I am trying to use web services, when the user clicks on a button or changes the text of a textbox, a message should be displayed on the screen. But when I run the code below nothing happen; it means that no alert message displays on the screen.[code]
I'm using asmx web service to lock a folder on remote computer! When I run web service on local machine everything working fine, but when I run it on remote computer nothing happen, folder on remote computer stay unlock! I supose that I need to set security permission for this web service on remote computer, but i don't know where! So, what I need to enable executing this service on remote computer?
I've been trying off and on for a week now to get this to work but no luck. I have completely stripped down my vb.net 2008 windows service to just create a vbs file and launch it using a process.I'm dying here. The vbs file creates and is valid. I can execute it manually, the windows service just won't run it!! I'm on a windows 7 machine and the process is compiled and installed as a 32 bit process. It is also installed as local system.
After the process tries to execute, I created a text file and it did so successfully. So, I know that the service isn't crashing out.[code]....
It seems like a lot of people are having trouble with this piece of the control toolkit.I've looked for a few days on the internet for an answer and haven't been able to find one. Best solution I've seen so far is "write your own reordering procedure" which I don't want to do.
I have the following code [code] This loop takes sometimes up to a minute to execute. I would like to display a message box giving the user the option of terminating the loop. When I use ShowDialog the loop doesn't execute until DialogResult is returned. When I use Show, the forms buttons are not accessible until do loop is finished. How can I make this work?
I'm working on creating a windows service that will send emails to a customer when they are within a month of having their submission expire. I'm using vb.net in Visual Studios 2008
Because it's a windows service it's very difficult to debug. Trying to narrow down my error I created a "sendDebugEmail" method that sends me an email if it gets to a certain line. The emails never make it past "dr = cmd.ExecuteReader()"
I'm wondering what I am doing wrong. My SQL statement should work fine. I've tested it in my SQL server database.
I've created a dummy_database that I just made in sql server as well. I added an INSERT sql statement for the dummy table i have in there just to see if i could actually access a database. All the table takes in is the line number and time it was sent. When I run my windows service that database updates just fine.[code]...
I'm trying to execute a program on a remote machine using this code
Dim objProcess As New System.Diagnostics.Process objProcess.StartInfo.FileName = "cmd.exe" objProcess.StartInfo.Arguments = " /c PSExec /accepteula \NTAPPMTMIGL01 -u $AdminUsrLocal -p tjdsi44 c:winntMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727gacutil.exe"
[code]....
If I use it, it works since I'm an admin but if someone else use it, I got "The system cannot find the file specified."Is there any other program I can use that can impersonate, I've already tried xcmd.exe but it doesm't work either.
Just trying to execute commands in cmd.exe just a simple Net Stop [service] and get a error 5. I want it to run cmd in administrator mode. One way I have seen that you can by holding down ctrl & shift while clicking cmd.exe?
My question maybe not be very clear, but I just want to know how this process is called or references needed to create something similar, so I can investigate on my own ( but if you have code is welcome.Basically I have 2 desktop programs ( A and B). For A, I do not have the source code, for B I do.What I need is to create some service/program that after a screen pops up from program A, automatically runs B. IN other words, capture the moment a specific screen is shown in A and execute B.
My real life scenario is that I have a very basic POS where I can't collect customer demographics ( zip code, etc), so I created a second application to capture that but my cashiers are always forgetting to run the program and I need to find a way to run it after a screen is shown ( let's say the "Change Due" in the POS, so they don't forget to run it.
I wrote a VB.NET Windows Service, which works fine. I have only one issue with it. I want the service to execute on the half hour and top of the hour marks (e.g. 9:00, 9:30, 10:00, 10:30, 11:00, etc etc etc). I am using the following code:
Protected Overrides Sub OnStart(ByVal args() As String) ' Add code here to start your service. This method should set things ' in motion so your service can do its work.
[CODE]...
This code works, however, if the service starts at, say, 10:15, then it executes at 10:15, 10:45, 11:15, 11:45. How do I make it so it always executes on the 30 minute and top of the hour marks?
i have a Windows service that is hosting a WCF service through net.tcp and this is working great. I have also created a WCF service application. I am trying to add the net.tcp service reference to the service application. Then I add it to the GAC that goes ok but if I try to RegAsm the WCF service application to allow it to be called from Server.CreateObject I get the error:
Warning: Type library exporter encountered a type that derives from a generic class and is not marked as [ClassInterface(ClassInterfaceType.None)]. Class interfaces cannot be exposed for such types. Consider marking the type with [ClassInterface(ClassInterfaceType.None)] and exposing an explicit interface as the default interface to COM using the ComDefaultInterface attribute.
It does not work. I have tried to call it through a class library but this does not work either as the end point is not set correctly.
I have a VB2008 application which can control a windows service i.e. start, stop, pause etc. This runs ok on a Windows XP machine but not on a Win 7 machine (message is - Service error cannot open <service name> service on computer '.') ( if I stop the UAC then it runs ok ). It seems to be a rights issue,
I use Visual Studio 2003, VB.net, NetFramework 1.4 and Windows XP I have been using the following Code Snippet for a number of years in both Web Services and Windows Applications. However suddenly around the 29th September 2010 it has stopped sending E-Mails from both Web Services and Windows Applications. The same problem has happened not only to my own Network but on two other Networks, one using XP as its Server and the other using Server 2003. All 3 of these are using different ISPs.
I got this warning that I don't know what it means.Warning1 The service System.ComponentModel.Design.IInheritanceService already exists in the service container.Parameter name: serviceType00
I am trying to communicate with a Windows service on a remote machine on the network but i keep getting an exception saying the following: "System.InvalidOperationException: Cannot open Service Control Manager on computer 'machine001'. This operation might require other priviledges. ---> System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: Access is denied.
Is it possible to have a dotnet windows service which monitor other services and upon stop of any service, the monitoring service would be able to start the stopped service.
This is a bit of unusual problem that I'm experiencing, but recently one of the users of a production application started reporting errors in the system. These were traced to a 503 Service Unavailable error when making a call to a web service used by the application.
Now here's the odd part, only the one user is affected by this issue. Other users of the application have not reported any errors. When the user logged on to a different machine that worked for another user, they still received the error.
i was trying to make my service act dynamically... i have set time for my service about for 2 min ,if suppose it was doin huge amount of work means it will exceeds that 2 min time limit then we need to check the service condition if work is pending means we need to run that instance until upto finish.
public static void StartService(string serviceName, int timeoutMilliseconds) { ServiceController service = new ServiceController(serviceName);[code]............
In the past I had the indexing service installed on a Windows Server 2003 and used it to index files for my website. I did this by executing an OleDbCommand with a query and a connection string. How do I accomplish the same thing with the new "Windows Search Service" (Windows Server 2008) by using VB.NET? Does this work the same way so that I only need to change the Provider name which has been "MSIDXS.1" up to now? Case true, what is the new Provider name?
I had a problem getting a VB.NET web service client to receive the response object from a Java web service. In the process of posting this question someone from another department volunteered some code written for a similar situation.I couldn't find this anywhere on the net so I'm completing my question to help others out.[code]The web service is Apache CXF with some Spring elements mixed in.
I'm using Visual Studio 2010 and .NET3.5. I've created a WCF service application. I'm including two DLLs that contain the types I'm returning. The first method I wrote works both in WCF Test Client and also in a console application I created to test. When I move on to the next method that returns a generic list of a type. It works great in WCF Test Client, but when I update the service reference it acts as if the service is unavailable. All my objects say can't find reference, and I can no longer see it in the object browser. It's like it just disappears. I can still see it in the Service Reference folder. If I go back to the WCF app and comment out the contract and implementation of that one method it work again. I created a local class very similar to the class I'm using from the dll, and the it works. Is there something I'm missing here? Can someone point me in the right direction?
how to deploy a service made in VB.net. Most of the websites just say use installutil.exe this is fine while your testing your service on your local machine whit vs2010 on it. I am in the final stage now of my service like 99% is done and my last % is how to get my service installed on the server i need it on. I can't publish because this wont work with a VB.net Service Project. So all i want is a clean and easy Tutorial or Someone who can explain me how to do this without the need to install VS2010 on the server to get install-util.
We have a server with multiple services written in .Net 1.1 and 3.5 running on a Win 2003 server. Everything runs fine, but when we stop a certain service, an unrelated service stops. I have checked and neither has any dependencies. The service we stop is in 3.5, and the unrelated service that incorrectly stops is in 1.1. We get no error messages, nor event log errors, so we are baffled.Does anyone have an idea as to what may be causing this?
