Mar 25, 2009I'm reading a folder to assess the width x height of jpeg's, to classify them in various ways. Opening each as a bitmap and reading the bitmap width and height works but of course is laborious and very slow .... I've read various JPEG file format papers but retrieving the image pixel width and height seems none too obvious. Is there a logical way in VB to get this info quickly? My jpeg's are bog-standard ones made using VB's "Bmap.Save(Fname, ImageFormat.Jpeg)".

Sep 15, 2011I want to capture the image of my webbrowser, or actually just a part of it.I already achieved it, but it just takes a screenshot of it instead of capturing the bitmap itself. So when i use this technique and you drag another window above it, the window is also captured. (this is what I don't want.)

It works sometimes: when resized only a small amount, it does nothing, but when the image is resized more than that, it jumps to the right position.

Sep 6, 2007Is it possible to disable image loading on the webBrowser control? - So that pages load faster. I just want the HTML of the page to work with in my code - I don't wish for the page to be displayed. And I know that using httpwebrequest or webclient would normally be the best option for this kind of thing but I need to browse secure https pages and I don't know if that's possible with anything other than the webBrowser control.

Jul 18, 2009i'm making an app which uses a webbrowser control to show some offline (not cache) html pages like a slide show. let's say pages in a folder on the desktop etc when it came to testing the whole thing, i figured out that the images in the html are not visible on the webbrowser control. instead there is a space where the image should be, corresponding the actual image dimensions.and when i right click on this empty space where images should be, and click on properties, i see the image size given as -1 byte (minus 1 byte) and there is no image type.
however given any online url's to the same webbrowser control or opening the same html pages with the real internet explorer i got no problem and see the images.i've been googling for almost 10 hours for a solution without success, so any hints are welcome. used vb 2008, .net framework 3.5, ie 7.
WebBrowser Control: Automatically Resize (as Standalone IE Does) An Image In It?
Mar 24, 2010I'm using this control in a application to load the URL of a .jpg image. The thing is that the image is bigger than the control, so I want it to automatically resize the image, as IE does when the same thing happens there, and it even shows a little magnifier glass to restore the image to full size.How can this be achieved? What happens at default is that the image is bigger than the control, so a quarter of it shows and I have to scroll to see the rest.

When i port it over to VB.NET, i encountered error message 'ReDim' cannot change the number of dimensions of an array. for the line highlighted in red. And I suspect that VB.NET need to always define the exact dimension of the array during the declaration. But for the function above, for the array of 'MyMat()', I do not know what is the exact dimension every time it runs, and that is why i need to check the dimension of the array.My question is do we have any solution in dealing unknown dimension array in VB.NET? As in VB6, we can just define Array() instead of Array (,) in VB.NET.

Aug 10, 2010I am writing a few web based apps which will require a webbrowser extension. I have already used the IE webbrowser control that uses the trident web rendering engine. I believe this is MSHTML.DLL? Anyway, some of the users of my programs have complained of a few things. Particularily,
1. It seems to be a slow browser, at least compared to other rendering engines out there (webkit and gecko are 2 known ones).
2. On the developer side, it seems to be low in features. The features are sufficient in most cases, but there are some "special" things that I need.
3. It has VERY low HTML (and especially HTML5) compliance.
My question is, how much work would it take to use a different engine (such as webkit .net, which I HAVE heard of) and be able to distribute it easily. Or, if you guys feel ambitious, we could try writing a brand new engine ourselves. I know how big of a job it is, and frankly, I have no clue where to begin. I would just like your thoughts and opinions on the matter.

In the html file, I have filenames mentioned.I am trying to string together the html in such a way as to give a clickable link or button that will parse into html and open the corresponding file in another WebBrowser control in VB.I have tried using VBScript and JavaScript to put a button in the html.As long as the function or sub I call is also in the same html document, it works, but I really need to transfer the control back into visual basic where I can do the heavy lifting I need to.can I just not do this as a regular VB application? Any way to do it without adding the complication of requiring ActiveX?
