Website Won't Start - Error "The Current Trust Level Does Not Allow Use Of The 'compilerOptions' Attribute"
Jul 25, 2009
I been asked by a friend to transfer his website to a different server. The files transfer went successfully except that the site won't start. I keep getting the following message:
I am having a devil of a time getting a couple of VB 2003 web apps that have been converted to VB 2005 to run on the remote server I use ... I am able to debug/run them on my local development machine. The problem seems to be centered around the web.config files for these apps. They each contain <compilation> elements with embedded <compilers> and <compiler ...> child elements. The <compiler ...> element has a number of attributes including compilerOptions. When I run each app from the server I get the following message:
I can't send email via ASP.NET and sent an email to my web hosts for some help and was told to modify my security settings and was sent a link:[URL]..I've read what it said there and tried setting <trust level="Full" originUrl="" /> in web.config, but then I get the error:
This configuration section cannot be used at this path. This happens when the site administrator has locked access to this section using <location allowOverride="false"> from an inherited configuration file.
I've not set any other web.config file.So I asked the web hosts again, and asked if it was a server setting which I cannot change, but the response I got was just:
You'll need to specify a more specific path. Which is lovely, but I've no idea what that means! Having done a bit more digging I am wondering if I have to set up a separate trust file, is this correct? Could someone point me in the direction of the correct way to set up my Trust level (I realise "full" is probably incorrect as well?) as I really don't understand what I am supposed to do!
I had a strange problem editing a class in the property grid whereby the property grid would refresh incorrectly.I managed to reduce the problem down to a class with just two properties. I've included the code at the end to ease explanation. It basically boils down to a class with two properties. The first of which is expandable (a font)The class itself is expandable and also implements the CreateInstance method in the type converter. To see the problem, expand the font, edit, say 'Bold', and tab away. Two problems happen:
(1) The second property jumps up and ends up in the expanded font property.
(2) The '-' sign of the expanded font changes to a '+'.
The problem goes away by attaching ResfreshProperties(RefreshProperties. All) to the class. That's great, but I'd like to understand how it fixed the problem. I've had a look in reflector and can't find any examples of RefreshProperties being attached at the class level.
I'm tryign to read a specific attribute from a xml website using this code:
'this is the url im trying to read, tmpIn is a string that complete the url: Dim url As String = "http://maps.google.com/maps/geo?q=" & tmpIn & "&output=xml" Dim reader As New XmlTextReader(url)
[Code]....
The problem is tmpIn takes diferents values (string) when the function is used and sometimes this works, and othertimes it gives an error (Invalid character in the given encoding. Line 9, position 15.), but is not because of the url, is when it tries to read the coordinates...
How to get the current power level of my laptop and if my charger is connected to my laptop. I want to make an application which tells me to put in the charger if my power level is under 40%, cause it has happened way to many times to me that my computer is shutting down when I etc. watch a movie or is programming. I'm using a HP DV9850EO.
I am trying to find the current level of zoom in a webbrowser control. I know how to zoom but the same doesn't work for retrieving the current level of zoom. I am trying the following: VB.NET Syntax (Toggle Plain Text )
It is times like these that I miss the old VB6 language I wish I could hide the current forn and show another form which - this is the important thing - to be on the same level that the previous form was . You see , I used to use this code :
Me.Hide Form2.Show However , sometimes in VB .NET this does not work the way I want it to . You see , the current form does get hidden and Form2 is shown indeed ; however , Form2 is shown somewhere in the background . If there are other programs opened at that time , then Form2 is shown behind all those programs , that's what I mean by saying I want it to be shown in the same level as the previous form was the only way out , I found , was to reverse the code :
Form2.Show Me.Hide In this way Form2 is successfully shown right where the previous form was shown (above the other programs) but in some cases this also is not pleasant because it might take some time for Form2 to load while at the same time the previous form is still visible on the screen and therefore for a slight time both forms are shown one over the other , which is surely not nice . That's why I still want to first hide the first form and later show Form2 .
Problem: My programs throw a Trust Relationship error when calling My.User.IsInRole() but only on Windows 7 64 bits. They work on all our Windows XP stations. My code is pretty simple.
With My.User if .IsInRole("Some Security Group Name") Then Bla.. Bla.. Bla.. End If End With
I'm the only one in the company using Windows 7 which we are evaluating to decide if/when we're going to upgrade all our PC's. I am a domain administrator and my PC is in the domain and I'm authenticated. Since I installed Win 7 I haven't had any other authentication issues. The apps are built on .NET 2.0 SP2 I don't know much about our domain setup which is handled by our network administrator but I'm told that the Primary Controller is a Windows 2003 and the Secondary is Windows 2000. He tells me that by default every workstation first authenticate on the Secondary controller if it's available.
Here's the StackTrace
System.SystemException was unhandled Message="The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed. " Source="mscorlib" StackTrace:
I have searched the web for code relating to changing the system volume, muting the system volume, and outputing the current level of the volume as an integer, using VB.NET.
All the code that I have found either doesn't work, or is very long.
In my Web Site project, when I run my program, a web browser pops up and takes me to a website234. How do I get this URL in my code? I can go TextBox1.Text = equest.Url.AbsoluteUri, but that gives me the full URL along with the parameter.
I am a student working in a co-op position. My project is to add a login page to an existing site (made using FrontPage, I believe) and I am using ASP.NET in vs2010 (VB). I would like to NOT use the login control/membership tools in ASP.NET. I was hoping to make my own login and use session variables to keep track of the users and determine their role off of a field in a table located in the database that currently exists for the site.
Like I said, I am still a student and haven't had a lot of web application experience. I'm not asking for someone to do this for me. I have spent a few days looking over the asp site, the msdn site, and several others but I just can't understand it yet.
I am running my application and at random times when it is unable to connect to the database I get an error saying "A Transport-level error has occurred when receiving results from the server. (provider, TCP Provider, error: 0- The specified network name is no longer available.) How can I stop this pop up from coming up? It comes up every once in a while and I want to disable that.
Private Sub Button7_Click_1(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button7.Click

oook so this when button7 clicked it will move my mouse to the X:700 and Y:700, but will start from the X:0 and Y:0 but i tried making start from my current mouse position but idk how not working:
i have a for loop "for each val in values" I want to within this loop some how check positions ahead of the current position for a condition. I am unsure how i can do this however apart from having an inner for loop to loop from the current position. If that is the case I am not sure how i can get the current position.I have attempted this with this code below, the inner for loop.
If creditPoints = "10" Then Dim valcount As Integer = Val.Count For intLoopIndex = valcount To Values.Cou
I've got a webbrowser. It's prettey advanced, given that I've spent quite a lot of time coding it, and here is my code which will get the Favicon of the current website when a the webbrowser has finished navigating:
Sometimes, a user has switched tabs before the webbrowser has finished navigating. So my question is: Is there any way in which I can determine what tab the favicon belongs to and set it to that tab, rather than just setting the favicon to the selected tab?
Currently I have the code:textbox1.text = textbox1.text.insert(textbox1.getfirstcharIndexFromCurrentLine(),";")But this means it has to reload the entire textbox, which with large files is noticeable slow. What are the alternatives?
I'm trying to make the combobox get suggested values from a website using the current keyword they have in the box already. For example if I have O, it will show up values that the website has returned with O. The problem is how can I make it work where whatever I type into the combobox, it will get the values, set the datasource and make it show up. So far I have this:The problem is whenever I type something, I cannot get it to set it to the new datasource without the comboxbox becoming the first value in the data source.
Dim pop As New List(Of String) pop.Add("Koolaid") pop.Add("kIMKY") pop.Add("KoolPaid") ComboBox1.DataSource = New BindingSource(pop, Nothing)
I have 23 new full power computer servers, an all the extra equipment that comes with it to start a larger or medium cluster, i need help with new ideas to get a new company going, i don't want the hardware to go to waste, also i am in the market for partners,
I'm trying to set up a database connection between an ASP page running VBScript, and I have found code to do this. However, the 'provider' attribute to the connection does not work. The code is below:
set conn=Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection") <strong>conn.Provider</strong>="Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" conn.Open(Server.MapPath("mIndexDb.xls")) set rs = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.recordset") rs.Open "Select * From mIndexDbTable", conn
I'm trying to use LINQ to XML to create an Excel spreadsheet. I created a template spreadsheet, exported it to XML, pasted the XML into my code and then began to edit it. When I try to create a set of XElements using LINQ, I get these errors:
The first squiggle under <Cell> says "attribute specifier is not a complete statement" The second under ss says "'>' expected" The third under Type says "'Type' is a type and cannot be used in an expression" Ignore the error under "Lot 1..." I will be putting an expression hole there. The squiggle under </Cell> says "Identifier expected".
I get an error when I try to build my project.'SSLAccessFiltercannot' be used as an attribute because it does not inherit from 'System.Attribute'. [code]
I am creating an Excel add-in written in VB.NET. I would like to bind KeyDown and KeyUp events to the spreadsheet to record when the user presses and releases the arrow keys while navigating the spreadsheetIdeally, these events would be built into Excel alongside the native SheetActivate and SheetSelectionChange events, for example. Alas, they are not.
Recently i upgraded my .NET framework from 1.1 to 2.0 (visual studio 2003 to visual studio 2010) and after that I always faced some problem during development while debugging. Somebody facing this before? I can't see what is the data inside some object like following examples (right click and quick watch):
'objCircle' is not declared. It may be inaccessible due to its protection level.
The project currently contains references to more than one version of CDMObjects, a direct reference to version 1.0.4394.17018 and an indirect reference (through 'ProcessFlow.frmBPSOD.m_CopyCircle') to version 1.0.4455.20763. Change the direct reference to use version 1.0.4455.20763 (or higher) of CDMObjects.
Today I decided to come up with a program that would be useful for me in VB.net (I have never coded in VB.net before). All is going fine up till this point but I have hit a snag with the error mentioned above. The problem is with the windowssevenexistsonsource boolean under the get get of profiles comment. I will also take any code criticism well as I would like to get out of bad practices before I start! (the sub does end but I have not included that code)
Code:
Private Sub Button2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button2.Click 'Check that the entries required are not empty If String.IsNullOrEmpty(sourceipaddress.Text) Or String.IsNullOrEmpty(destinationipaddress.Text) Then
