Add Login Logic To Current Website?

Nov 23, 2011

I am a student working in a co-op position. My project is to add a login page to an existing site (made using FrontPage, I believe) and I am using ASP.NET in vs2010 (VB). I would like to NOT use the login control/membership tools in ASP.NET. I was hoping to make my own login and use session variables to keep track of the users and determine their role off of a field in a table located in the database that currently exists for the site.

Like I said, I am still a student and haven't had a lot of web application experience. I'm not asking for someone to do this for me. I have spent a few days looking over the asp site, the msdn site, and several others but I just can't understand it yet.

Get Favicon Of Current Website When A Webbrowser Has Finished Navigating

Apr 27, 2010

I've got a webbrowser. It's prettey advanced, given that I've spent quite a lot of time coding it, and here is my code which will get the Favicon of the current website when a the webbrowser has finished navigating:

frmBrowser.BrowserTabs.SelectedTab.Icon = Controller.GetFavicon(Me.Url.Host & "/favicon.ico")

Sometimes, a user has switched tabs before the webbrowser has finished navigating. So my question is: Is there any way in which I can determine what tab the favicon belongs to and set it to that tab, rather than just setting the favicon to the selected tab?

VS 2010 : Make The Combobox Get Values From A Website Using The Current Keyword They Have In The Box Already?

Mar 14, 2012

I'm trying to make the combobox get suggested values from a website using the current keyword they have in the box already. For example if I have O, it will show up values that the website has returned with O. The problem is how can I make it work where whatever I type into the combobox, it will get the values, set the datasource and make it show up. So far I have this:The problem is whenever I type something, I cannot get it to set it to the new datasource without the comboxbox becoming the first value in the data source.

Dim pop As New List(Of String)
pop.Add("Koolaid")
pop.Add("kIMKY")
pop.Add("KoolPaid")
ComboBox1.DataSource = New BindingSource(pop, Nothing)

I have a datagridview having 3 columns (qty,scraft factor,actuall qty). What I want is if the user encode 50 in qty and 2 in scraf factor, actuall qty will automatically computed based on qty multiply by 2. I was using keyup event. Now I am using endedit to get the current value of the current row and column, now the problem is if the amount to be encoded is more than one digit it will not accept because of endedit. Integrating ASP.NET C# Website As Subsite To A VB Website?

Jan 25, 2011

I have a ASP.NET 2.0 website created in C# that acts as a completely independent site and I am looking to integrate this into an existing ASP.NET 2.0 website created in VB.NET. Unfortunately I just don't know much about the server management side of ASP.NET yet so too much I'm unaware of when it comes to IIS configuration etc. Does anyone have any advice as to how I can go about integrating this? Basically I want to host it in a subdirectory from root so when you hit example.com/myindependantsite/ it will pull up my C# site.

One possible solution I came across mentioned just dropping the project folder into the root directory and setting up that directory as an application virtual directory in IIS? A few other random questions were small things like would my application relative links (~/for-example.aspx) stay relative to my root subdirectory if it's made into an application virtual directory? Just trying to get this running on their site but like I said it's completely independent so want to preserve my websites environment.

Log Into Website Using IE?

Jan 21, 2011

I learned I can log into websites using the web browser control provided in VBE 2008 and have done so successfully on several different sites that I use daily at my job. I came across 1 site that uses a lot of pop up windows to navigate through it. The problem is, when I log in using the my web browser control, the pop up (which pulls up the internet explorer) brings up the login screen, I assume because of the site uses sessions. My work around is to attempt to login using the internet explorer. I'm having trouble getting it to work and unable to find answers in the forum (hope I looked in the right place). The app is not doing anything, can someone assist? Here is what I have:

Run App From Website?

Oct 23, 2010

I originally posted this in the ASP.NET forum because I wasn't sure if this would be more of an ASP.NET thing or VB.NET thing. But, since I haven't received any responses, I thought to take my chances here.

I have an app that, among other things, utilizes a bunch of different portable command line apps. My app is downloaded by the user and then they choose to download whichever command line apps they'd like.

The problem, is that this can be anywhere from 70MBs of data to 900MBs. So that the users won't have to download additional files and to eliminate an additional step to use the app, I'd like to run the portable CLIs directly from my website.
