I can do that if I rea an entire line at a time and write it out, but the data in the listbox are columnated.For example:Cey,Ron 50 75 75 66.67would be an entire line from the listbox. It was entered into the listbox by reading an lsv text file and using format string to set up column info, but I don't know how to read it back out by column, only by entire line.

Oct 24, 2009I'm trying to write some code which parses data and then populates a listbox. I'm using the IPWorks IPPort component which basically does the reading of port 30003. The ipport1_OnDataIn event is where all the action is. I parse the data, which works great.. however when I try and do something simple such as add text to a listbox, I get the dreaded error "Cross-thread operation not valid: Control 'lstListBox1' accessed from a thread other than the thread it was created on".I've googled the error and tried copy and pasting some workarounds but nothing seems to fix the issue.
If anyone can offer help, it would be greatly appreciated. If you could possibly show the code already implemented into mine, it would be even better so I can see how it works. It would make more sense to me. My code is below. The part i'm trying to get working is the lstlistbox1.items.add("Test") in Case "2". This is to just get it working.. I'll be adding listbox items in the other cases as well, and they'll be parsed values instead of "Test". This is just to simplify things at the moment.

Feb 22, 2012I've built a windows form application that steps through a wafer map and sends a command to ink specific dies if the bin number is between certain values. While debugging I have run into an issue with the program crashing with no error message anywhere. While stepping through my code, the place the program stops has occured in two different places but both in the same subroutine in the code I use for the network communications. Below is the subroutine I've seen it break on with the two places it has broke indicated.

Can't Run Published/deployed Program (debugging Version Work Find However)
Jun 9, 2010I've been using a piece of code I found that reads in joystick movement into my VB application using DirectInput. Building an executable works great, the program operates as should be, however when I publish my program for final deployment, I get the following error:
"WindowsApplication has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
Here's some of the error details:

IDE :: Debugging - When My Program Is Running It Used To Break On A Line Where An Error Was Occurring
Dec 1, 2010I just got Windows 7, so I re-installed VB 2008 Express and have been met with some weird issues. One of which is when my program is running it used to break on a line where an error was occurring and tell what it was and let me fix it and continue. So I can see the error in the Immediate window but why is it not breaking on the line? It just continues loading the program. Is there a setting I'm missing?

The program consists of 2 combo boxes, the first one is the nominal resistance drop down list of the numbers :100, 150, 220, 330, 470, 680, 820 and 1000. The second list is of the tolerance numbers; +/- 0.4%, +/-0.6% and +/-0.8%. Now what i want to do is select a number from the first combo box and select the tolerance level of the second combo box and i input the resistor of said value into the text box. when i click the check resistor button it should display a message saying if the resistor is in or out of tolerance. For now I have the form all laid out and the values inputted into both combo boxes and i can go to run the program i am able to select said values. Now my problem is trying to get the right code so that i can check the resistors value.

Aug 28, 2011It may seem noobish but, I've been try forever! I've been postponing a database project for like 3 years and I finally come to some solutions except for when it deletes an Item from the list. On form load, the listbox generates data from a text file (we'll call text1) which has data in it. For every line of data in that text file (text1), there is a text file (text2) in a 2nd folder.
For example, there may be, in text1, a line named "Hi". In the 2nd folder there is a text file named "hi.txt" Another line (say the next line under 'Hi') is written as "Hello world", there will be a file in the second folder called hello world.txt"
May seem confusing but it works well. My problem is making that 1st text file that has ALL of the data that loads into the listbox, be rewritten over with the new data in the listbox OR remove a certain line of from the text file.
