after debugging when my listview is filled with data, there is this last column that is always empty for the user to write in it, so how can i make this column this way "like textboxes", i've tried some propreties but it doesnt work

View 1 RepliesI'm having to write a reporting application that gets information from some Interbase servers and it also has to work on Vista as well as XP, I'm using to connect Borlands Data Provider.[code]My Issue is that debugging on my xp Machine the dataset gets filled, debugging on my vista box it fails ("Interbase provider initialization failed"), my initial thought was that this could be UAC related but I've compiled the application and 'ran as admin' and still same issue. (by the way it failes on the line Dim da as BdpDataAdapter...)

View 3 RepliesI have a small problem with this code. I am adding information to my listview from multiple textboxes. As I add the info I automatically update a text file with the code shown below. The problem I have is When I add my first row the code will not write the data back to the text file, however if I add a second row the code is quite happy to write both rows of data back to the text file. I cannot for the life of me see what is wrong.

Lets say the table has 3 columns (a,b,c) and 1 row of data.

I want the user to be able to re-arrange the columns (by dragging the column headers) before printing the contents of the table.

Statements like:

.. ListViewX.Items(0).SubItems(2).ToString
Give the column-name (c) and cell-contents (3) of the origional table .. not the (3rd) column (b) of the re-arranged table.

Write binary file in sequence with Listview.I'm loading data from a *. bin file in a listview to modify.Now I want to write listview data in the file.The start offset is 1036.The sequence of each data block is 228 bytes.The number of times to repeat the sequence is 8011.There is more information ... but I put these 3 sample.In the first data block to these lengths are Name Offset 1036 +50 (name space long is 22 bytes)Age Offset 1036 +60

I suppose that before writing the data in the file would have to convert the data item and subitems in hex or byte.
I am having a problem regarding to pass all the data on the listview from one form to another and add another columns. The purpose of my columns is that I want to put text from there because I am sending a mail but I want to get the status of my message if it failed or send and write it at every end of the rows.

My first question has to do with the opening lines needed in a VB program in order to connect to Excel 2007 and read/write some data from/to it. I know the process only slightly and reading and writing to the cells is not my real concern for the moment. What I need to become familliar with are the lines like this:

This is just one of the examples I have read through and to be honest I only follow this slightly. The trouble was that with each new article I read, people did this differently, not the variables on the left mind you, just that some left out lines, which I can see could be done based on circumstances. Still others said the Imports line was not needed....etc...and other loaded up at least 3 or four more Imports lines insisting all were needed.
I'm looking for some straight-forward advice on what is the minimum needed to access an existing Excel spreadhseet and to just read some of it's cells to variables in the code and then writed some data back to certain cells within the spreadsheet and then save and close it.
Also, please note that I am using VB 2010 Express. Why, because I'm a broke developer who spent most of last year out of work. I have a new contract assignment which is so far going well but will go even better if I can master this technique with VB.NET, not VBA. And all the docs I've read said that even though VB 2010 Express is a watered down version of VS, I should be able to do medium level tasks such as this with it.
