How do you accept dragged text to a notifyicon control? I am aware that the notifyicon control supplied with .net does not have an AllowDrop property nor does it have dragenter or dragdrop events. I'm looking for a way to somehow do this without reinventing the control.

I want to achieve the following:
The user drags text from any open window not related to my application ( like firefox or word, for example) onto button1 on form1 in my application. when he/she does that, a new form (called form2 that contains a richtextbox) will open and the dragged text is directly copied (or inserted) into the richtextbox of the new form. button1 has allowdrop set to true. Beyond that I don't know how to proceed.
I tried:
e.effects = DragDropEffects.Copy
But it seems it is not enough.
I created new windows services.I also add notification control to Service1.vb designer.But I cant show the notifiyIcon:notifyicon1.visible=trueWhy is that?

Now for some reason, after a few minutes of the application being active, I get a JIT pop-up that doesn't render any text or buttons. Clicking on it causes the JIT debugger to crash, and I get the Windows "{App} has stopped responding." with error code CLR20R3. I'm not sure what this is all about, but I can provide any other details if needed. I've got everything nested in Try/Catch statements, all with code to write to a crash log but nothing gets written and I still get that error message.

I was never taught how to do this and I only know how to do it with numbers. Here is my code with everything done, including the format I was taught to do keypress in with numbers and backspace. I'm beating my head against the desk on an advanced level solution in the VB 2010 book, and can't figure out what I am doing wrong. This is the exercise: JM Sales employs 8 salespeople. The sales manager wants an application that allows him to enter a bonus rate. The application should use the rate, along with the 8 salespeople, in an array, to calculate each salesperson's bonus amount. The application should display each salesperson's number (1 through 8) and bonus amount. as well as the total bonus paid, in the interface.
1. The txtRate control should accept only numbers, the period, and the Backscape key.
2. A one-dimensional array should be used that has elements initialized to the following sales amounts: 2400, 1500, 1600, 2790, 1000, 6300, 1300 and 2700.
I have the interface created and its error free (for now) but its not doing what its supposed to do. It's supposed to show something like this. I can provide screenshots if necessary. [code] but what I get is a list of 0.00's in all of the above fields. What am I doing wrong? Heres the code finally, sorry if I was overly descriptive. I would like to upload files using the ASP FileUpload control. However, if I try and increase the limit to about 10000 kB, it doesn't work and accepts files only upto 4 MB in size and I get an error saying that the connection to the server was reset. I referred: [URL]..but when I modified the web.config.comments file, nothing happened. Where am I going wrong?
Also, I wanted to know how this would work when I deploy it on the web server. I'm asking because in the code behind, I'm still giving a hard coded value for the path where the file is to be uploaded. How does this work?

I'm not trying to do anything to invovled, just have a textbox that takes numeric value from 1 to 10. I don't want it to take a string or any number above 10. If some types a word or character an error message will appear, telling them to enter a valid number. This is what I have, obviously it's not great as I am having problems.

the dot "." must be fixed in the textbox and it should be loaded with the textbox. Furthermroe i have plans to code eachtime a user enters a number it should print the numbers from Right ot left.

View 5 RepliesI have created a list form that gets attached to a main form in VB.NET. This all works fine except that when the main form gets activated, I need the list to be brought to the front as well. I have put in a simple IF function to do this but when I added these lines of code, the main form, as well as the list form now do not get brought to the front until you let go of the mouse button. Obviously this means that if you drag the form, it stays at the back until you let go of the mouse button.
The code that I added is below:

CRL is the list form.
If I comment out this code again, the main form get brought to the front while dragging but obviously the list form does not. The main form as well as the list form are MDI children.

I'm working on a music player (I'm a beginner), I've gotten the basics down but I've been stuck on something for the last few days.
I'm wanting to have a listbox that (only) music files can be dragged onto, once they are dragged onto it I want the listbox to add it as an item on that listbox. So basically, I'm wondering how to drag items onto listboxes, restrict that to only music files (specifically .wav & .mp3) and have that dragged item be added to the listbox.
PS. I'm making this media player myself, without WMP or DirectSound (I believe it's called).
Trying to replicate the docking controls in Visual Studio 2008. My application replays the RADAR environment for the FAA and I want the ability for dual monitor users to drag the control panels to the other monotor to leave the main canvas clear. This functionality is similar to the way the different panels in VS can be dragged outside of the main window.

I'm required to generate a timetable for school teaching activities. in this application, I want to display the time slots using labels and I want to enable users to drag them around to place the subject cards in the available slots. I'm even confused with the control to use for the time slots. Right now I'm thinking of using datagridview for the time slot.
