IDE :: Turn Off Those Annoying Popups In The Code Editor?

However, the Report a Bug function does not work, which in itself is a major bug.While I am typing in the code editor, these annoying popups keep popping up and completely blocking my view of the code. I have no idea what these popups are showing and do not need them. I have not been able to find any way of turning them off. I consider this another major bug.

Mar 6, 2012I'm tutoring a student in VB 2010 at a local college.i'm trying to explain to the student that he needs to learn the technique or art of knowing how to start coding in VB to accommodate a simple forms program.Is there a name or term that is used to describe the thought process a programmer goes through to convert what the user is expecting into the code that needs to be implemented to accomplish the task?A simple example is a form with a textbox on it and an OK button.When the user clicks the OK button, the program should check the textbox to make sure it is a number and not alphanumeric.The student I am tutoring has a hard time knowing what the first line of code should be to make that kind of test.He has a problem translating what needs to be done into code.I was wondering if anybody knows what that is called and if there is anything written about it.

Application Slow Is DB Access/text File Code Ok?
Jan 26, 2012I noticed that my application is running a bit slow. This is a Windows Service built using VB2010 with SQL Server as a back end. Its main function is to poll a folder looking for a text file. If found it reads the text file and imports the data into SQL Server.
While the slowness could be caused by a number of reasons, I am looking at my code to determine if it could be more efficient. Below I've pasted snippets of code where I initialize the DB connection and execute SQL statements. I've also included a snippet that illustrates how I am processing the text file.
I'd appreciate if the group could have a look at these and let me know if the method that I am using is the most efficient possible. At this time I am also focusing on other probable issues, but I can't rule out the possibility that the code that is in place might be a contributing factor.

Now this code is executed when a button is clicked, if the folder does exists, it displays a message and continues the backup. however if it does not it displays displays "does not exist box" then i want the application to close.
I played around with the application.exit commands but it seems like the code just skips over it, and continues to try and backup the data, then errors out. how do i make the application close, if the dir does not exist?

In other parts of the publish dialog, I have successfully associated a file extension (.xyz) with my app. To finally publish it, I click the Publish Now button, not the Publish Wizard.The app publishes fine, and after installing it by clicking on the resulting Setup.exe file, it runs fine. The app creates a .xyz file (essentially a text file). I then close the app. In Windows Explorer, I can see the .xyz file with my custom icon. When I double click on the .xyz file, my app starts up.So far so good.
Now I need to implement reading the contents of the .xyz file in my main form's load event.I thought it was going to be easy by following a snippet to read the command line, and with the knowledge that the filename clicked on is the first argument (item 0 of the argument collection).So I started testing like this:
