I have a problem that I have a used drive and a dir list box, and have a start search button.When i press the button it will start serching in the drive and folder for the file e.g. a word document.But the problem is that it will not show that word document in another form.I have also used the OLE,but it doesn't work.
View 5 RepliesI have a class project where I am using a VB.Net form to search the XML document based on data entered into a text box and I need to return the values of the other items in the child tags. An example of the XML info is below. In the VB form, the user enters an account number and based on the account number matching one in the XML document, the remainder of the form, name, dob, etc populates form the XML into text boxes.
I'm not sure how to code this. I have attached the XML document to the VB form code with:

I have also assigned variables to the text boxes receiving the search input from the user. The search is activated by clicking on a "Search" button in the VB form.

(I have an emailer where the user selects a Word document to mail-merge from a list and I need to be able to display the document so they can be sure it is the right one). At the moment I am trying to use the web browser control but this is giving me the following problems....
1. How to prevent the file download (open/save/cancel) dialog from displaying.
2. In Office 2007 it is opening the document in a separate instance of MS Word.

Could i create a simple tool that would be able to read this word document and look for certain text and then capture the text that appears after it?
For example if tell the tool to look for "<b>Make: </b>" and then capture what is entered after it until it reachs "<B>" tag on the next line?

On a word document I would like to populate same data captured via User Form on multiple locations of a document... i.e. LastName I would like to appear on salutation paragraph and also in the body of the letter... I used REF LastName on the document when using VBA but it seems the same document when it is being populated via a VB application this skim does not work and instead "Error! I have a function on my program that allows a user to load a listbox filled with words that are matched with words inside a databank. The databank is filled with 2 string arrays and file of .jpg Pictures. The Arrays attached to each word inside the listbox are approximately one page. Each page is two paragraphs of Text(string Array) and one Picture(20Kbytes).My problem is this. When the user selects the option print all, the listbox with approximately 10255 words is selected and begins to fill a Microsoft Word Document.Because the alotted amount of space needed for the MS Word Document is approximately 5 Gbytes,I need to open about 10 Documents and insert the String Array's and Pictures into each document one at a time.Is there anyway to check the filesize of the Open Document before saving the document.This way I could check the open document inside the algorithm for 512 Mbytes of memory and save the document before the size gets above 512 Mbytes.[code]

I have been trying to switch my code from using an ie object to using a built in webbrowser. Most of the properties are the same but I have run into an issue getting an xmldocument from a page.
