Dec 5, 2011I can usually find the answers to most of my questions via the Google Gods, but not this time.I have a form that has a TabPageControl and on that page a collection of labels and text boxes via a usercontrol.
On the form I have a button that allows the user to create a new tabpage, when the code adds a new page, it automatically adds the UserControl collection. I can't get my head around how to access the objects on the newly created tabpage.
What I need to be able todo is take the index of the tabpage that has focus and translate that against the UerContol name, but I havn't a clue how to do it!

Asp.net - Reference TextBox In One UserControl From Another UserControl
Jan 19, 2011I have two UserControls on a MasterPage. DataEntryUC contains several TextBoxes and DropDownList. NavSaveUC contains navigation buttons. When the user clicks on a navigation button, I will be saving the data entered into DataEntryUC from the NavSaveUC UserControl.
I have a couple of tables in my DB that contain stored procedure names, control names, control types, SqlDbTypes, etc.... that correlate with DataEntryUC.
How do I reference a text box that is on DataEntryUC from NavSaveUC?
I have been working on the following code from NavSaveUC with no luck.

I need to save a bunch of properties for the round trip of a post back but i am confused on how to save those properties to ViewState and set them again to the repeater items within the usercontrol. have read the MSDN on Viewstate but I am not understanding it quite well for some reason..[code]

Add A Custom Usercontrol From Toolbox Onto Dynamically Generated Tab Pages?
Sep 23, 2010The code below loads 4 Tab Pages at runtime to a TabControl. If I have UserControls in my toolbox, I can't just drag and drop the user control onto these TabPages because they don't exist yet! How do I accomplish this dynamic loading of UserControls onto the Tab Pages as they are created?

Usercontrol : Textbox Text Formatting?
Oct 30, 2009I've made a user control (http:url.....)I'm trying to format the text based on the data type e.g.:
Date
Numeric - 2 Decimals
Numeric - 0 Decimals
String
Now, I've added a property so that the user can decide at design time, what format he wants for the textbox. I've also made the options an enum. And then the coding in a sub. But not sure what I have to do with the sub.When I put it in the TextChanged event, then I get the weirdest behaviour from it.LIke when I typed in 1234 on Numeric0Decimals, after I typed 4, the cursor jumped to the first position of the textbox...On type Date, I just type in 2009/08 and then again it just jumps to the front and set the text to 01/08/2009 .So obviously can't place the sub in the textchanged event...

Sep 15, 2011I have a strange behavior with a dynamically created TextBox-Control. The control is created in the handler of the Load-event of a dialog-form like this:

Now the situation is, that in most cases it works fine. But a few of my customers report that the TextBox not appears on their dialog - it's not there! That's all, nothing more to say.hints or reports about known pitfalls with dynamically created controls which could explain this (sometimes) strange behavior and how I could fix it (I have to create this control dynamically due to some reasons).
BTW: The program is built with Visual Basic 2005. And the customers with trouble are spread about the OS's (XP, Vista, 7).

Jul 11, 2011A user can select a few chec box options, then clicks OK.A new tabpage with a textbox and two buttons is created and added to my form, the textbox can be seen as a sort of 'receipt', and one button is a close button, which deletes that tab, the other button is an edit button.When the user selects edit, I would like the selection page to open up, checking, (through a couple of If conditions, whether a text is contained in the text box), then if a certain text is found in the box, a corresponding checkbox on my form is checked.
So basically, my problem is trying to check the text from a textbox which doesnt exist until after my form is loaded... I need someway to reference this new text box, not forgetting there may be many tabs at one stage.I tried a method in which each new texbox was added to a list, then when the edit button was clicked, it checked the tab index and checked the corresponding textbox, but this would only work for the first tab/textbox and caused issues with the close button, perhaps when the edit button is pressed, VB checks my selected tab, and somehow finds the textbox which is on that tab.

Jul 11, 2011I have a Windows Form that contains a custom control container as a UserControl. For the sake of this question, this custom control container is called Dashboard. This container called Dashboard contains numerous other controls depending on their permissions. I need to raise events that are contained on these controls through the Dashboard control and over to the Windows Form.
How can I bubble up the event? I'm using VB.NET for this project, but can convert C# into VB.NET.Also, to complicate matters, the main Windows Form is a VB6 project. So, I'm using the InteropFormsToolkit to accomplish this.

Mar 22, 2012I have a usercontrol that has a main form and calls another form within the usercontrol to get some data from a database that allows the user to select some items from a CheckedListBox control on the sub form. I want to pass the selected items from the CheckedListBox back to the main form and display the results there. I have a public property called DBList of type List(of String) on the main user control. If I create a reference to the usercontrol form the second form within the usercontrol I get a new instance of a user control. All I want to do is set the property on the usercontrol and close the secondary form. How do I reference the usercontrol from the form within the usercontrol?

C# - Dynamically Changing Textbox AutoComplete List?
Jan 8, 2012My client wanted to have a textbox in the Customer form of the application, which offers the applicable endings to a started street name. He starts to type a street name and the textbox offers a list of streets which start with the char sequence he typed into the textbox. Textboxes have the AutoCompleteCustomSource property and even though a list of common street names will be longer than it could be pre-filled on start, I could just hit a database with a query, populate an AutoCompleteStringCollection and show that to the user.
Now here's the thing: If I make the list populate on every keypress/keydown whatever, the program crashes and throws an AccessViolationException. I've found out that that's because: The control is in the middle of showing the AutoComplete list when at the same time it is being modified, resulting in the crash. When you refresh the Autocomplete List, the control is recreated with new pointers. Keyboard and mouse events (KeyPress, MouseOver, MouseLeave, MouseHover) attempt to reference the old control's pointers which are now invalid in memory causing a memory access violation to occur.
The underlying AutoComplete implementation does not allow for changing the AutoComplete candidate list object once it has been set on a window. To allow changing the list, WinForms destroys the Edit control or ComboBox and recreates it. This causes an exception if the underlying control is destroyed while the AutoComplete window is still use it. I read about this on MSDN, their resolution: Do not modify the AutoComplete candidate list dynamically during key events. I know that you can do this by creating a custom control and such, but can it be done with just pure coding wizardry?
