Add The Row From Datagrid To Database MS SQL SERVER Filde Type Uniqueidentifier?
Jun 21, 2012
i have data gridview content col name GUID and i put in it GUID value be this code DGrid.CurrentRow.Cells("GUID").Value = System.Guid.NewGuid.ToString() and when i try to add the row from datagrid to database MS SQL SERVER filde type uniqueidentifier by this code
I need the first number in uniqueidentifier sqldbtype of one of my table.i should hard-code it in my application since that one is specifial with other records and I do not want to recognize it by its name but rather it's ID.
I'm torn between using UniqueIdentifiers(UID) or some other field as my primary key for my new web app. I have two tables. I need to be able to find the UID on one record in Table1 and put that UID in a new record in Table2. I also need to be able to create a brand new UID for the new record in Table2 on the fly.
What I am trying to do basically is open an access query in a datagrid view and then be able to make changes to the datagrid and then save it back to the database. When I try to save:
I am writing a macro using excel 2003 to read rows of a excel sheet & perform some task, now before execution I want the user to select for which rows the operation is to be performedo do so I added a form in MACRO & placed a flexgrid on the form which will display the content of the excel sheet. But, I am not able to change a column type to a checkbox where the user can check it to indicate if the operation is to be performed on that row or not.
Friends I have Developed my Data base Project on vb6, using adodc and datagrid using ms access database file, it was working nice in vb6, I also put Search box there and used adodc1.recordsource="select * from table" sql query.
later i needed to convert it in vb.net I converted it, every thing is working fine, but one problem appears, an adodc's Recordsource query for searching records is not working, it only works if there is data in dataset (Datagrid),suppose once i pressed search button to search record and if no record found then dataset / datagrid becomes empty, now i wanted to search an other record with other name, but this time it does not work and following error appears Either BOF or EOF is True, or the current record has been deleted. Requested operation requires a current record.
I have created my site using ASP.NET Personal Starter Kits 3.5. I use Visual Studio 2008 only . .with its built-in SQL Server (2005 Express) ... my database in App_Data is ASPNETDB.MDF ...I have created some of my tables also ....in ASPNETDB ..In my local PC the site was running fine ...But when I publish my site on production server it doesn't work and shows the following error
I have developed a VB.NET program using a strongly typed dataset. This dataset has its connection to a SQL Server 2008 R2. The software should now be additionally used offline. The database should be exported to a *.sdf database. If no connection to the SQL server is produced, the software have to try to connect to the *.sdf database.I would like to achieve:
1. Export the data in the SQL Server 2008 R2 database to a local *.sdf file.
2. This *.sdf file has to work as an alternate connection string in the strongly typed dataset.
I have a form. it has a textbox called textbox1. form has datagridview called datagridview1 on it which has datasource set to: tblEmployee. Which is connected from EmployeeData.mdf. This is an SQLServer connection.
I want to be able to type the text in search box(textbox1) and the datagrid shold adjust at the same time.
So if i am typing "Joh"... the datagrid should automatically change to narrow rows with Forename that has "John" in it.
I want to be able to type text in a search box (textbox1) and have the datagrid adjust at the same time. My datagridview is called DGEstudent and the data source is dataset2 and is pulling from the student table. As soon as I start typing in the textbox my datagrid just goes blank. Private Sub TextBox1_KeyUp(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles TextBox1.KeyUp
Dim dv As DataView = New DataView() dv.Table = DataSet2.Student dv.RowFilter = "First_Name like '" & TextBox1.Text & "%'" DGEstudent.DataSource = dv
I have a problem trying to link my my datagrid view to my sql server stored procedure. The way it should work is that when I select an item in a list from my combo box it returns a set of rows on the datagrid view specific only to that item This is the code on the server sideCREATE PROCEDURE spCompanySearch
[Code]...
The @comp is supposed to be each item in the combobox list but I don't know how to do it or how to go about it

How do I solve this? FYI I'm using an unbound datagrid, and I get all the screen values during runtime.

I'm trying to create a new server control type in ASP.NET. This control would put a RequiredFieldValidator into a certain place. My class inherits from the WebControl class and it has a ControlID property which is the ID of a given control. The RequiredFieldValidator will be generated near the control with the given ControlID. However, the value of ControlID is nothing. In what events can I successfully use this property?
Public Class MyControl Inherits WebControl '... Protected Property ControlID As String Protected Property IsLinkedBrother As Boolean = False [Code] .....
But ControlID is Nothing for some reason and the event throws an exception. ControlID is never changed after initialization and it is initialized this way: <MyControl runat="server" ID="IDValue" ControlID="ControlIDValue" EnableCliendScript="true" CssClass="Whatever" Display="Dynamic" />
I recently upgraded the MS SQL Server installed on my personal computer from 2005 Express to 2008 Express. Problem is when I try to add an SQL database file to a project using VS 2005 I get an error message saying that the version of my database server is not supported, I must have SQL Server 2005 Beta 2 or later installed. I didn't do it yet but I'm pretty sure that when I open the other projects that I included a database file to it, I'm going to get the same error. My question is it possible to have two SQL Servers installed on my machine? If so, is it a good idea to have two DB servers in the same machine?
I got a system which i want to insert, delete, update the data into my database and the data from database will be display using datagrid. The below is the coding for one of my button, delete.

Now I wanna set when user click on this button to delete a employee (for example) then the datagrid that i have in my application will not show the data of the deleted employee but in the background, the employee haven't been deleted from database. The employee only will be deleted from database when the user click on SAVE button.I know this application have to use RowState but how?

Dim myconnection As SqlCeConnection Dim mycommand As SqlCeCommand
before re-inventing the wheel, i want to ask you how i can do this best: I have a VB.Net application that uses a database connection to MS SQL Server 2005 (express version). There are users that input data with the application into the database lets say once to 2x an hour to once a minute. I want to do backups like this: Once a day or once a week (in the evening) a full backup, and whenever the program/user is idle for lets say 10 Minutes, i want to do an incremental backup (so that it does not take so long until he can work on after the backup).
There are no big security issues, just copying the backup data files to a network share / a different computer or server would be fine. i guess the average db size may be 300MB, but the daily increments about 1MB.
I work with vb.net I have a sqlServer database and i need to migrate to a DBF database.I know that a dbf file sctructure is a hexadecimal text file.I want to generate this file without a provider...building this file with this hexadecimal structure.
I have a problem here... I'm using SQL Server as may database and developing that database in Visual Studio 2008.my problen is, when I use the STORED PROCEDURE from SQL SERVER it doesn't update/save new data on a the table. here's my coding; This is my stores procedure: when I execute this on on SQL SERVER it worked perfectly.
I have spent the last day reading countless threads and webpages about updating a database with data entered into a datagrid.I have a datagrid with that I populate from an access database and the datagrid has 4 columns, 'Item Code','Description','Quantity' and 'Unit'.Another 3 columns ID, Division and Bid Refrence number are hidden. My aim was to use these as a unique reference so that I could update the changes made.I can show the datagrid just fine, no problems at all.
