Adding Textbox Input To A Data File?

Apr 21, 2012

It can be just a hint if it's too much code for the whole thing. This is the assignment:

Quote:

This form will collect from the user their name and e-mail address. It will display for them what they entered and then ask them to be sure they entered the right name and e-mail address. If the user selects yes‟ from the message box, the name and e-mail address will be added to the data file.

Adding Data To A Database?

Aug 18, 2010

I have a project I created for my VB class where you enter what type of ticket(combobox), how many tickets(textbox), what type of tickets(listbox) and will give you the total amount.I want to do a little more to the program and was wondering about adding the person's name, address, phone, city, state, zip and then having all the information put into a database. I wanted to also take the information entered from the program and use the printPreview control to view a report from Access(possible?).

I've only worked with viewing database information on the forms in VB but I've never entered data into the database. Is this possible? Can I have the information entered on the form be entered into a database that keeps track of all tickets purchased and customer information?I can see this working in my head but don't know if it's logistically possible.

Im currently doing a small programme of a register system. I need to add a new group box filed with a few textboxes and a couple comboboxes for each entry in a access 2010 database. for example if i had someone called bob in my database with his details i would like the GUI of the VB app to add in a new textbox for the name, a textbox for the address ect in a set order, this needs to work for multiple entry's so the textboxes ect don't overlap but be placed neatly below the added textbox.

Adding Data To An Access 2003 Database

Nov 11, 2011

I have a Visual Basic 2008 Windows form application that processes some scores and data. I want to export the data to an Access database. I have created the Access database and connected it to the VB program.I am looking for a simple set of commands or sample code to add records to the database. Perhaps I am oversimplifying the problem, but it seems like it should be so much easier than it has proven to be. I only want to export the data in code; the user should never see the database or do anything to it while the program is running.

Load A Lisbox With Data From File. Save Data From Textbox To File?

Dec 10, 2011

I have a form with a listbox that when the form is opened I need it to display info from a file. I don't know what would be easier to work with Excel or a txt file, but it is in this format:

Phillip Frank
3/19/1990
3
999-555-8618[code].......

I would like it to populate the list box when the form is loaded, but if I have to use a button to tell it to load that is fine also.On the same form I have 4 textboxes that ask for each of the above items (name, DOB, Level, PH#) and a button that when pushed I want it to save it to the same file where the above info was pulled from in the same format. The Show Contacts button doesn't have to be used if it is not needed.

Adding Records To An Access Database Where The Data Contains Apostrophes (single Quotes)

Oct 5, 2011

The apostrophe is used to separate data when adding records to an Access Database data table using the "INSERT INTO" SQL statement. Having apostrophes in the data really screws things up with this new software. Is there a simple workaround? Is it possible to specify a different character? Is it possible to add data without using SQL Statements? I also noticed that the new OleDbDataAdapter Add Method generates the same SQL Error because it apparently creates an "INSERT INTO" SQL Statement.gh

VS 2010 - Database File Cannot Be Found After Adding UserControl

Aug 30, 2011

After adding a UserControl to a form which access my database I get this warning:
Warning1The database file cannot be found. Check the path to the database.
[ Data Source = C:Program Files (x86)Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0Common7IDEDatabase.sdf ]
C:UsersUserDocumentsVisual Studio 2010ProjectsProject1Project1Options.Designer.vb2160

Thing is I never had a database at that location, my database is and has always been in MyDocuments in the Project folder itself. There is nothing anywhere in my code referring to that database! When I double click it I get sent to this line in the Designers window:
Me.Controls.Add(Me.BoxControl1)
Even though I get this error I can still access my database, so basically it does absolutely nothing except drive me mad! So how do I fix this?

Sql - Get Data To Textbox From The Database?

Apr 26, 2011

I have a form with one combo box and text box, and an SQL database named balance with two columns; one as customername and the other as obbalance. I had bound all of the customer name to the combo box, now what I have to do is, when a user selects a customer name from the combo box, the text box should show the obbalance of the selected customername; here, the customer name will not be repeated - only one name per customer.

Dim conectionstring As String
conectionstring = "Data Source=.SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=C:Documents and SettingsAdministratorMy DocumentsVisual Studio 2005ProjectsSHOPPROJECTSHOPPROJECTshop.mdf;Integrated Security=True;User

I've tried this, but I can't see the value in the text box, and obbalance is a floating-point value from the SQL database.

Can't Display Data In Textbox From Database

May 4, 2012

I'm creating a project for my brother's thesis for his VB subject. Now, the thing is, I'm trying to display row data from database to the (already binded) textboxes in form1. As you may know, this procedure requires that the program:

1. Declares an sqldatareader, sqlcommand, and an sqlconnection.

2. open the sqlconnection.

3. ....and use the sqldatareader to fetch the data from the source file.

The database file is made using sql server compact 3.5 and is located on same pc as where I'm making the program. The problem is, I'm getting stumped in trying to connect to the sql server. I'm getting a 26 error "error locating server/instance specified". installing sql server 2008 management studio to allow remote connections (which was already allowed in the 1st place), enabling TCP/named pipes protocol in the config manager, and enabling sql server browser service. I dont have spi firewall on since my isp has its own firewall on and xp fwall is off too. What I'm not sure about is my connection string as it might have been impeding me to connnect to server. How do I form out the correct connect string?
