Adding In Textboxes From Database Data
Jun 3, 2012
Im currently doing a small programme of a register system. I need to add a new group box filed with a few textboxes and a couple comboboxes for each entry in a access 2010 database. for example if i had someone called bob in my database with his details i would like the GUI of the VB app to add in a new textbox for the name, a textbox for the address ect in a set order, this needs to work for multiple entry's so the textboxes ect don't overlap but be placed neatly below the added textbox.

Alright it's been awhile since I messed with this project, so here goes. It's an appointment scheduler and everything works except two things: I can't edit existing appointments and it only records the current time, not the timeslot I click on.
If I try to edit an existing appointment it doesn't get the row data, just shows me blank text boxes. I assume I have to have those text boxes read the info from the database, but I don't know how to do that.
This is how it looks:
So, you double click a time slot and it looks like the second window. You can right click on an existing appointment to edit it, but when you do that all the text boxes remain blank like you're inserting a new one.
What code would I use to read whatever row's data I am trying to edit and insert it back into the boxes?
Here is the code I use to add new rows to the DB:
Private Sub btnAdd_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnAdd.Click
Dim NR As TestAppointmentDataBaseDataSet.AppointmentRow
[Code].....

I am using two autocomplete textboxes and both of them are binding data from the same table. What I want is when I select an item from the autocomplete drop down list of textbox1 not to have the textbox2 value set. Example :
Column1 Column2
Row1 value1 value2
Row2 value3 value3
When I select value1 for textbox1 I get automatically value2 in textbox2. I do not want that.I want when I select value1 for textbox1 , textbox2 to remain empty until I select a value for it (it maybe value3)

I have created an windows application which stores it data in a database. What I would like to know is how do I access the tables in the dataqbase and transfer the data in them into textboxes on the forms in my application. I can connect to the database and view the tables, but I have'nt got any idea how to get the data from the fields in the tables into the appropriate textboes on the application forms.

I'm displaying data from a database in a datagridview, but the player also needs to be able to add new rows, which isn't allowed because the datagridview is data-bound. What is the simplest workaround to this problem?

I have a project I created for my VB class where you enter what type of ticket(combobox), how many tickets(textbox), what type of tickets(listbox) and will give you the total amount.I want to do a little more to the program and was wondering about adding the person's name, address, phone, city, state, zip and then having all the information put into a database. I wanted to also take the information entered from the program and use the printPreview control to view a report from Access(possible?).
I've only worked with viewing database information on the forms in VB but I've never entered data into the database. Is this possible? Can I have the information entered on the form be entered into a database that keeps track of all tickets purchased and customer information?I can see this working in my head but don't know if it's logistically possible.

Most of the project I do, I use the datagridview to display the data from the database. What is the different between the datagridview and listview? If I want to display the data from the database, should I use the datagridview or the listview?

I have a Visual Basic 2008 Windows form application that processes some scores and data. I want to export the data to an Access database. I have created the Access database and connected it to the VB program.I am looking for a simple set of commands or sample code to add records to the database. Perhaps I am oversimplifying the problem, but it seems like it should be so much easier than it has proven to be. I only want to export the data in code; the user should never see the database or do anything to it while the program is running.

The apostrophe is used to separate data when adding records to an Access Database data table using the "INSERT INTO" SQL statement. Having apostrophes in the data really screws things up with this new software. Is there a simple workaround? Is it possible to specify a different character? Is it possible to add data without using SQL Statements? I also noticed that the new OleDbDataAdapter Add Method generates the same SQL Error because it apparently creates an "INSERT INTO" SQL Statement.gh

i have the following piece of code: txtGrandTotal.Text = Val(textbox1.Text) + Val(textbox2.Text) + Val(textbox3.Text) If the numbers entered into textboxes1,2 and 3 are positive integers it all works fine, but if for example the following happens i get unexpected results textbox1 has the number 3, textbox2 has -1 and textbox3 has 6. I expect the result to be 8 (3-1=2 + 6) = 8 Instead I get 14. I understand the concept of precedent but how do I set it if I don't know if the number entered into textbox is positive or negative?

Whats the best way to add an adornment layer to legacy controls, or in other words you know jetbrains refactoring tools, how do they draw the squiggly lines under incorrect text? Also on another note can one draw said adorments on controls not under the direct reference of the application, ie using a handle? If you have insights, or just theories,

The three labels "Floor" "Typ." "HeadsI can insert once fine but multiple times only the third instance is written to the form.I have 2 textboxes to test that the Label.Name is changed but I can't make the Label.text stand for each label. I am certain this will occur too with the textboxes.I also need to keep track of these boxes for further use with the program.

I've tried following the Microsoft instructions to add multiple Textboxes to my form, but just cannot get it to work. Thus, I've deleted everything I wrote, so I don't have code to post. Is there a very simple way to add multiple TextBoxes to a form and be able to index them? If it's too lengthy, Is there a workaround?

I have a couple of textboxes on my form. I'd like to give the user the opportunity to spell-check these textboxes so that they can correct their mistakes and then update the contents of the textbox into the database.
Only thing is, I'm not sure where to begin. I found this thread by Martin Liss, but it errors out for me as it's not .NET.
