I want to call th.Start(True, sender.Text) and Count(ByVal isRunning As Boolean) will then become Private Sub Count(ByVal isRunning As Boolean, Byval strID As String), but I can't do that. I need to be able to add elements to a copy of mylist.testlist without modifying the global mylist object. (Which seems to be happening via the below code.)When I am working on x, which should be a totally separate object, mylist is getting modified as well. How can I fix this? I have worked with lists extensively and never seen this behavior before. I have tested and reproduced the problem in .NET 3.5 and .NET 4.0 on Win 7 Pro 32bit.

I have an object, called 'PERSON' This person object has a title, firstName & Surname property as well as many other which are at the moment irrelevant. It also has a read only property called Fullname which concatenates the two or three parameters mentioned above depending on an optional parameter 'withTitles' passed over when you call PERSON.FULLNAME

I get an error: PERSON does not contain a property of 'FullName'. If I change this to any other property that does not take a parameter it works as expected. Now I'm guessing that the binding procedure can't handle optional or mandatory parameters for object properties, is this right? Is there a better way to do it? I thought about looping through the collection to add them manually but that kinda defeats the object of DataBinding!

I have some code that adds items to a List(of Object).
Here's my original code

But as soon as the code assigned "Chicken" to BeaconStory.Title, then BeaconStoryList(0).Title would also change to "Chicken".
With my second version of the code this did not happen.
It's as though it was placing pointers into the elements of the array rather than values. If that is the case, however, then why does my second version of the code work - I'm still passing in the same thing - aren't I?
I am not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I need some guidance from people smarter than me...

Details of what Im trying to achieve.
My object is Fixture which represents a light. My light has the following properties:
Name, isMover, HighlightValue, UserNumber, Channels.
Channels is a dynamic arraylist which lists all the different channels of the fixture. A channel could be the lights colour or its intensity. A channel has the following properties:
Type, FeatureGroup, Value, Universe, Address, Slots and Offset.
Slots is the same again, breaking down to another ArrayList with more details.

I should be able to get result back as long as there's a match in the parameters. If I use Function Contains (q.FirstName & " " & q.LastName).Contains(employeeName), I will not get any result back if employeeName is "John Clark" Function Contains looks only for next words from left to right. I've added reference to Flash object. Then dragged AxMacromediaFlash to form. [renamed Flash1]. Even after setting Flash1.Movie="file.swf".
it doesn't start playing ! I tried, loadMovie,Play,MovieData etc etc.. nothing works. There's no error, no warning, nothing. That Flash object remains plain white. am not using try catch too. I'm on Vista Home Premium 32bit, Flash player 10, Flash ActiveX version 10. Tried re-installing player, activeX. its just not working! : any known issues am ignoring here? and same file works fine if I drag it in IE. and if I check Flash1's state, it shows playing.

I have a problem with a generic list, which consists of intances of a class i created. I am just amazed, each time I add a new object to the list, it overwrites the previous entries. Here is a code sample, i just can't beleive it. I am using visual studio 2010:
