Created a key and added web service reference in my solution.[code]But i cant figure out how to do that, after a lot of searching i came up with this link here url...I am unable to use it. Difference Bwtween Vb2005 And Vb2008 - Use Advanced Installer To Build A Setup File For Application?

Aug 30, 2010

I was studying visual basic 2008 and had reached almost 60% of it when I was told that my course curriculum included visual basic 2005. I will now have to reinstall visual basic 2005(.net framework 2) instead of visual basic 2008(3.5 .net framework). I was wondering- will it be completely different vb2005 and vb2008? I really wanted to stick to vb2008, I was getting the hang of it. Also, I was wondering, can I run my application vb2008 in .net framework? Is there any way around? Also, I used advanced installer to build a setup file for my application? Now the question is will the other computer(the one which will install from the set up) need .net framework of 3.5(since I built apps in vb2008)?

Add A Search Box To A Master Page?

Sep 14, 2010

I'm trying to add a search box to a master page in an ASP.Net MVC web app. What's confusing me is how to properly implement it in the master page. So the user types in data into this search box, how should the data be handled from an MVC perspective?? I know I could use he master page's code behind, but I shouldn't. I'm currently trying to use a user control for this, but I'm not sure how to properly implement it and online resources seem to be limited. [code]...

Asp.net - Handle Enter Key For Search And Login Page?

On the master-page their is a search text-box for the site so that shows up on all the pages. Their is also a login page screen to get to a members account. The issue is: When you are on a content page I would like when a user puts something in to search for and presses enter it will process the search request.But....If you are on the login page I would like to disable enter key for the search and if the user presses enter on the login page to process the login request.

I tried to set up the search form function by watching a video by Beth Messi called "Creating a search form" under form over data video series. After I finished setting up everthing accordingly, the tool strip appeared bellow the window form title bar. May I know how can I move it into the tabpage?

Dynamically Building A Search Result Page As User Types

Jun 18, 2011

I'm currently attempting to use a .NET WebBrowser to display help information (stored locally in html files) for an application I'm writing, however I'm experiencing two problems, both related to hyperlinks.

Firstly, I have a search function which returns the correct URL in the format file:\C:... I can copy and paste it into a browser, and it will navigate there. Yet clicking on the link within the control itself does nothing at all.

Secondly, the HTML files all contain relative paths to other HTML files. These of course do not work as I just end up with file:\C:help.html which gives me a 'webpage is unavailable.' But I can't think of a way to get it to work without parsing the HTML file and concatenating the path to the directory on to the front of the link.

Just to clarify, in the first problem I am dynamically building a search result page as the user types. The HTML contains several results similar to this (yes, it's unfinished, I'm just showing you the link part): [code] Now, when I click on that link in the control nothing happens, it doesn't give me a 'webpage is unavailable' or take me to the actual page. Saving the HTML, however, and opening it with Chrome, IE and Firefox works fine.In the second problem, I have a different help file for different sections, each containing relative links to several others. VB picks these up as direct paths, and attempts to go there from root, i.e file:\C:file.html. The only solution I can think of is to parse the file and use WebBrowser.Navigate(Path.Combine(pathToDirectory, nameOfHelpFile.html), which seems a lot more inefficient than it should be.

Search For HTML Elements (and Get Their Content) Without Actually "running" The Page?

Dec 3, 2011

I've been seeing a lot of people reference getting HTML elements using the web browser control. And it seems to be something I may want to utilize in a program of mine.

a program which will get the html of an imageboard and check for updates, without loading any content other than the html (thus saving bandwidth). I've checked and this is not against any TOS.

But here's the thing, I don't want to actually navigate to the web page, because that'll load everything anyways. Is there a way I can search for HTML elements (and get their content) without actually "running" the page (for lack of a better word).

VB & Database Advanced ?

Mar 23, 2012

I have a university assignment, The problem, well.. in the short anyway; i have this form which is for placing orders. There is an "add product" command and next to it a list box. what I would LIKE to achieve is being able to click on add and then a query would come up asking for the user to input a product ID then check either yes or cancel. once that is done, I would like the database to search products by ID (obviously) and then display the product in the list box. the list box may contain up to 5 products and no more. there is also functions to remove individual products from the list box as well as clear the list box all together. in addition to this mammoth task, I also have a label which requires a total price. this would be the price of all the items in the list box, not in the database.

Build A Search Tool For An Application?

Apr 14, 2009

I'm trying to build a search tool for my application... I have a form with a bunch of criteria which the user may or may not fill in. The tool is looking up against one table in the database (OLEDB) so I wanted to pull in all the data from the table into a dataset (when the form loads) and perform the search on it. I'm not sure how to search through datasets... this is the code I have now:

Public Class TxnLookup
Dim daLookup As OleDbDataAdapter
Dim dsLookup As DataSet
Dim cbLookup As OleDbCommandBuilder

[code]....

but I get an error on the foundrows = line ("Value of type 1-dimensional array of system.data.datarow cannot be converted to system.data.datarow").... is there a better way for me to search the dataset?

C# - ASP.NET - Advanced Where-Clause In LinqDataSource?

I was hoping the following would work, however it seems lambda expressions do not work within a Where clause of a LinqDataSource (in VB):

how to get this working within the LinqDataSource definition, or will I have to handle and set up a custom OnSelecting event?
