App In Wn7 - COM Object Gets Executed Fine But Never Shows Up On The Screen
Sep 28, 2011
I am a recent newcomer to VB.net, having moved from VB6 this summer. I am using VS2008 because I also need to develop for WM6 on a ruggged pocket pc. I am not a commercial developer. I only develop apps for my own use, so I can live with some things that I could never survive with on a commercial basis. I developed an app that automates a COM object on my 32 bit WinXP machine. The app runs as expected, whether from the VS2008 IDE or from the executable in the bindebug directory where the supporting files are located. When I installed VS2008 on my new laptop, a 64 bit Win7 Home Premium system, the app still runs fine from the IDE but not from the exe file in bindebug. The problem is that the COM object gets executed fine, but never shows up on the screen.
I'm coding a splash screen in VB.Net that displays for 3 seconds then shows a login screen. But the splash shows up even when login shows and I have told the splash to hide. Here is my code:
I'm trying to extend my new WPF Touch Screen Keyboard (DLL) Library, to allow the user to get events from the Touch Screen Object. I'd like to be able to tell the Programmer what Object made the call (or executed the subroutine) that raised the event. Not dissimilar to the Sender as Object event parameters one gets when working with a System Object. Which begs the question, How do I get that information, if I don't ask for it?Is there a way to get this information from some call made in the subroutine about to raise the event?

I have a splash screen, the default from Visual studio. It loads up, is shown for a few seconds, then, when it disappears, the main form is loaded. Now here is the problem: the main form appears in the back, behind the windows explorer window I load the application from.
The weird thing is that this only happens on some computers, particularly Windows XP machines.I tried a lot of things like BringToFront() or TopMost = true in the on Load event of the form but nothing seems to change this.
I have develop VB 2008 that can preview the image through 2 webcams. However, when i run my VB and select to preview through my USB webcam, it display dark screen. But i select to preview through my built in webcam, it works. So, can anyone can the code attached for me?For your information, the USB webcam can function properly using other video/image software.
VB version: VB 2008 OS: Windows Vista Webcam brand: LifeTec
Why would the TimeZoneInfo class in .NET show that Indiana observes daylight savings time? I thought that parts of Indiana where EST all the time. Should I be using something other than "US Eastern Standard Time" to represent those parts of Indiana that don't observe DST? [code]
I am having trouble with a separate program that keeps saying Adobe flash is not installed. And I have tried everything but it still wont go away (that was off topic a bit). I want to create a program that will auto click the words "Click Here" if the error message shows. Because if I click there then it will work normally until it pops up again.
Now This is my first post and i am very inexperienced with Visual basic As an extra feature to a kiosk that i am making as an assignment in my year 10 ist class, (were doing it in power point 2010)
i am making a visual basic keyboard in Power point from swish max objects inserted through visual basic toolbox, i have found code to make a button that can type in to a text box once clicked. But i need code that when you click an object it types a letter into a visual basic textbox that i inserted into the power point prestation
BTW this issue occurs in any MS office program when the VB.Net (or even VBA) is processing information.Example: In Excel, a worksheet is displayed on the screen. I start either, a VB.Net or VBA procedure and within 30 seconds the Excel worksheet (previously displayed) blanks out. In both VB.Net and VBA,ScreenUpdating = False. My expectation is that the previously displayed screen would stay static as if I left my desk to get a cup of coffee; came back and the same ole Excel worksheet was still there?Of course, setting VBA Screen Updating = False accomplishes two goals: 1) speeds up processing and 2) saves the user from seeing unnecessary "garbage-processing" steps. Why does VBA or VB.Net ScreenUpdating = False not freeze the screen at the time of its invoking?
my application starts executing a module. it runs process.
Quote:
Public Sub SubMain() 'run process . . Application.Run(New frmLogin) End Sub
But now I want to add a splashscreen. But when I go to set it to "My Project" / "Application", I can not to set this module as start object. How I can set my module as start object and before to show the splash screen?
I am looking for assistance writing code, (VB 05), that would cause an object, (like a circle on screen), to get larger and smaller over preset periods of time, (about ten second increments).

My problem is that some code I enter will not be executed. Here is an example of my Form Load event. If i debug the code then the first two lines are executed. The MsgBox won't be executed though. or anything else after it. My programm does run perfectly. But i cant make any changes anymore It's driving me nuts, I don't have the faintest Idea what could be wrong. I sent the code to a friend and he isn't having any problems at all. We both use win7 64bit (he has ultimate, i have home) [code]
I am developing a window application. I'm using Visual Studio 2005 and Mysql Database. The problem is, only one form is getting executed when I try to debug.I have changed the startup form to other forms(from a list of existing forms), but still that same old form is getting executed, even if I delete that form or exclude it from the project, it still keeps on executing.
Where this form is stored?(I deleted it from the folder where all other forms exist)
I used autocomplete sub in one combobox keyup. It works fine in windows xp but got an error in windows 7. This code works fine for absolutely every mail client except Mail for OSX, which just inserts a plain grey icon titled "Mail Attachment (2.6kb)"Can anyone see what might be missing to make it work in all mail clients.??
Dim mail As New MailMessage() mail. From = New MailAddress("me@mycompany.com") mail.To.Add("tom@myaddress.com")
