We have developed a vb.net application using multi-threaded listener concept and a dedicated thread for each folder to monitor. With that we simultaneously keep track of the incoming files in each folder.Currently, we are facing an issue whenever we receive multiple files of bulk volume, parallel processing of the files getting delayed with thread concept or failing sometimes.We need to implement the same logic with some other concept avoiding multi-hreading. Or is it possible to achieve performance tuning with the same thread concept?

The issue is in the last line. ID_Part is an Int64 data type filters(0) is a string so the system returns a "Can't perform 'Like' operation on System.Int64 and System.String" error message.As you can see I tried converting the data type, but that failed since it is encased in String.Format()- it's going to be a string no matter what, I suppose.It's almost 1:00 a.m. so I'm not firing on all cylinders.

I am a recent newcomer to VB.net, having moved from VB6 this summer. I am using VS2008 because I also need to develop for WM6 on a ruggged pocket pc. I am not a commercial developer. I only develop apps for my own use, so I can live with some things that I could never survive with on a commercial basis. I developed an app that automates a COM object on my 32 bit WinXP machine. The app runs as expected, whether from the VS2008 IDE or from the executable in the bindebug directory where the supporting files are located. When I installed VS2008 on my new laptop, a 64 bit Win7 Home Premium system, the app still runs fine from the IDE but not from the exe file in bindebug. The problem is that the COM object gets executed fine, but never shows up on the screen.

This "Current.ManifestModule.Name " version of the code worked on both Web From app and Windows form app, however right now it only works for Windows App form. But when I changed this code "Current.ManifestModule.Name" with "Current.ManifestModule.ScopeName" and it worked on WEB without any problem. I have created a service which runs fine on my development PC. It reads XML files data into and Access database. Any errors that might occur are wrote to an eventlog. Like I said all of this works fine on my development PC. I have copied the service EXE on to another PC and run the install and that all works but when the service is fired I get a .Net 2.0 error - system.argumentexception error. I put a delete temp file line of code in to see where the error was occuring and it seems to be when I try to open my database.
Do I need to create a deploy for my service?

I'm creating a db tool for automatic database repairs i have the following sql statement:

Where the 'BrokenDbFile' is the location of the db where data has to come from and the 'sqlString' = the access statement.it gives a error when i put it in a try the exception is of type OleDbExceprion and de message text is "De instructie INSERT bevat een syntaxisfout" in Dutch Where it says that the syntax of the INSERT INTO is not correct. but when i paste the string from my inteli snce into access it works fine.
Problem: The excutable of the vb program crashes when trying to run but when I step through the program inside of visual studio it runs successfully.
Details: The program performs a winscp.com transfer from a ftp server and then takes the downloaded file and extracts the data from it before sending it to a webpage. The program also decrypts a des3 encrypted file which holds the login details for the sftp server and the webpage.
My Thoughts: I was thinking this could be something to do with the excutable jumping ahead of the slower transfer and decrypt functions thus causing a "file not found" exception to be produced and the program to exit. Lending to this if I slowly (aka spend 10+ seconds stepping through the code) move through the code it works just fine.
As requested Crash Messages:(I capture everything in exceptions and exit properly so no "crash" is reported but the error I get in my logs is as follows:)

For some reason the last update I put out does not run even the simplest VB commands.Simple Environ() fails.I have tried putting simple VB commands onto a MsgBox on the start of the app and everything raises an error. I have no idea what is going on! The exact same app runs fine on Windows 7 clients. All the XP machines including a fresh XP virtual machine with the .Net 3.5 framework even gives the errors. No VB commands are working. I thought maybe something happened to my vbproj files, so I copied an older one from a couple weeks ago when things worked fine and it still does not work.

I have a windows application that dynamically loads DLLs using Reflection.Assembly.LoadFrom(dll_file_name_here).
It works as expected, until I ILMerge the application with another DLL.
So this scenario works fine:
MyApp.exe
MyAppComponent.dll
Plugin.dll
Once I ILMerge MyApp.exe and MyAppComponent.dll resulting in:
MyApp.exe
Plugin.dll
Calling Reflection.Assembly.LoadFrom("Plugin.dll") seems to load successfully, however once I try to do anything with it eg:
foreach ( typeAsm in Reflection.Assembly.LoadFrom("Plugin.dll"))
I get an exception "unable to load one or more of the requested types. retrieve the loader exceptions property for more informtion".
The frustrating thing is I can't really debug it, because debugging pre merging works perfectly!
