I've built an app that uses the Groupwise (email client) API. It will perform as expected when I hit F5,everything is good, when I use ctrl+F5 it fails with an access violation (see below). I tried to used JIT debugging, but I never get to see the source code, just the assembly. The app *never* fails with this error when run in the IDE.Groupwise documentation is sparse.[code]...
Does automatic software update causes some of the module property not to work? They are basically the same function that reads image logo from the currently executing assembly. Function named "Get2LogoImageStream" is different from "Get1LogoImageStream" by just Current.ManifestModule.Name vs Current.ManifestModule.ScopeName.
This "Current.ManifestModule.Name " version of the code worked on both Web From app and Windows form app, however right now it only works for Windows App form. But when I changed this code "Current.ManifestModule.Name" with "Current.ManifestModule.ScopeName" and it worked on WEB without any problem. So my questions to fellow C# or VB.NET developers is that does automatic software update causes this kind of issues?
Alright, for a school project i'm making a filecrypter, and i need to load the executable directly into the memory.
For those that don't know it yet, a crypter consists of a crypter, and a seperate "stub"
the crypter crypts the file, and the stub is binded to the file, and upon execution, the stub is executed, and in turn executes the file it's bound to.
I have a RunPE sub, and on itself it works fine
Imports System.Runtime.CompilerServices Imports System.Reflection Public Class Form1
I have VB.Net application that has worked fine for years on XP and Windows 7. For some reason the last update I put out does not run even the simplest VB commands.Simple Environ() fails.I have tried putting simple VB commands onto a MsgBox on the start of the app and everything raises an error. I have no idea what is going on! The exact same app runs fine on Windows 7 clients. All the XP machines including a fresh XP virtual machine with the .Net 3.5 framework even gives the errors. No VB commands are working. I thought maybe something happened to my vbproj files, so I copied an older one from a couple weeks ago when things worked fine and it still does not work.
I have a backup / restore function working fine on Windows XP. When I deploy the application onto a Vista OS OI recieve the following error, can somebody please advise me how I can resolve this issue?
System.IO.FileLoadException: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo, Version=9.0.242.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040)
i have a dropdownlist which has a linq datasource ...and i have inserted 2 items "All Batch" and "Choose" from the codebehind manully...in case of mozilla firefox "Choose" is automatically selected as default in the dropdownlist but in case of IE6 the default selection in dropdownlist is blank but the items are there if we scroll the list.
I tried to use bmp.save to create some thumbnail, it works fine for a while then stops working, how to troubleshoot the problem? the code doesn't generate any error:
Dim bmp As Bitmap = WebsiteThumbnailImageGenerator.GetWebSiteThumbnail(address, 800, 600, width, height) Dim ScreenshotPath As String = Request.PhysicalApplicationPath + "Screenshots" Dim ScreenshotName As String = UserAccountDB.GetUserFullNameByUserLogon(User.Identity.Name).Replace(" ", "_") + Now.ToString("yyyy'-'MM'-'dd'-'HH'-'mm'-'ss") + ".bmp" bmp.Save(ScreenshotName) imgWebsiteThumbnailImage.ImageUrl = "~/Screenshots/" + ScreenshotName
I'm reading a file and then closing it with the following code, but my problem is later when I start a batch process it says the file is still in use. Am I doing something wrong in closing it? The process was working fine prior to my adding this code to read the file.
[code]...
This rexx exec is trying to write to the file that I read from in the prior step before creating a PowerPoint presentation, but fails becuase of the lock.I'm at a loss. I should qualify and say the process actually starts, but fails in the rexxexec after it starts, it isn't failing on the process start the rexx exec issues a message that it can't write to the file becuase it is in use.
I am currently developing an application that will be the "base" for several components (business reporting systems, order management, etc). The idea is that our customers will install this "mother application", and we will offer components that will slot into it, expanding the functionality.
Now, here's my idea for how to make this work. I have some of this basic functionality down, but I want to get other people's opinions, ideas and experiences with this sort of thing before I move too far in a direction that might not be the best way to go:
I've seen some other responses about this and they talk about interfaces but I'm pretty sure you can do this with classes and base classes but I can't this to work.[code]....When it tries to convert whatever Activator.CreateInstance(t) returns to the base class of type Behavior I'm getting invalid cast exception. That type should be of CharacterController which is defined as a child of Behavior so why wouldn't it let me cast that?
I am using the Microsoft Encoder 4.0 dll's for capturing any activity. I have used registered dll as been imported in my project. but if the expression is not installed then there comes error in my application code.(actually the dll is missing to be used if expression encoder is not installed)."how to check for available dll and use it in my code?"
I now have a need to dynamically load a dll into my application and I've found the reflection/assembly information and it's fairly easy to implement so I thought I was on my way. However, I quickly found out that I'm only able to use 'shared' methods. What I was originally thinking was I could have one shared method 'library.beginprocess' and then that would make all the necessary calls to the other methods, but this doesn't work unless all the other methods and class level objects are also shared.
I feel like I'm missing something or somethings just going right over my head. I've looked at many, many sites and examples, but I've only run across examples that expose 1 method,[URL]..which explain how to implement a plugin architechture, which I have not tried yet, but maybe would allow me to keep my class structure the same without having to make everything shared?
Since I've been writing my prgram, I felt the need to provide documentation in much the same way VS2010 does.I've searched everywhere I could, but all the references I could find where for older versions of the IDE.It appears there is no builtin facility to produce documentation and this sounds silly to me.I found external programs, but at 300$ a licence it's way over the top of my budget.Even the hints and tips stickied on this forum are out of date, as they refer to VS2005.So how should I produce inline documentation for my classes
I currently have a XML file for an application I am developing. I have built a a XMLFile.GetContent function to read my XML File and load the content into a set of specific objects. These objects are then added to a collection and passed back to the main code to be loaded into the memory of the application.I am looking for a dynamic way of loading the information from the XML file into a specific Object Property. I have added comments to the function to show what I want to make dynamic.Content of XML File
I am creating dynamic text boxes on button click and then showing values on another button click. It works fine until I use ajax updatepanel. In that case values are not shown when I hit second button. My aspx code is:
I have a program that outputs a file. I want the user to be able to just double-click the output file and launch the program, just like Word and Excel. In Word for instance, one doesn't necessarily have to open WORD then click on File--> Open and locate another Word doc. He can just go to the folder and open the Word doc. I want to implement the exact scenario in my program.
So far I have tried creating TextFile and added it to the Resources. On FormLoading, I simply I stream-read the Resouce file, but I can't write to the Resource on FormClosing, since the Resource is ReadOnly. Also, the Resource is built & compiled so I suppose you can't add anything to it at run time. How you lunch an output file without launching the Executable program that created it?
I have an executable that I was able to get working on all XP machines by registering all the .dll's associated with it.On Vista, however, I go through the exact same registration process but right when I open the executable it goes to a "WindowsApplication1 has stopped working" dialog. I registered the DLLs in the SysWOW64 folder. I also ran Dependency Walker which came up with IEFrame.dll as flagged, don't know if that is relevant though.
I am making a hangman clone for boredom and I can't seem to make the labels show up properly. Maybe I'm doing this wrong entirely and should just limit what's visible instead.

We are using .NET2.0 and Office 2003 to develop a desktop application. We met the following problem which may fail the project. We developed some functions in our .NET application and exposed to Excel as an external automation. Then we developed reports template in Excel with these custom functions to generate our report data defined in Excel cells. However, when we tried to refresh the report via .NET to call Excel in background mode, we met the problem that the defined automation is either not loaded or not working after loading. It is extremely volatile. Then we could not refresh the data as desired to display it in .NET forms.
I have started a new blank project for VB 2007. I have taken the old code (VB 2003) and added it to the project. The line marked below worked on the old VB, now it does not. I get the following error:
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Troubleshooting tips:
Use the "new" keyword to create an object instance.
Check to determine if the object is null before calling the method.I have tried several forms of using the "New" keyword and still get the error.
Public Sub BuildChooseFileMenuItems() Dim k As Integer Dim numChecked As Integer
I Actually want to provide a new service which requires creating executables on the fly from executables generated in vb.net. For example lets say I have a form with a textbox and in that textbox we pass an argument which is for example the serial of the product, then we have a button which once clicked will generate an executable on the fly which has also a textbox requiring that serial to run? That was only an example but the main thing is how to generate that exe on the fly.
i have created a dynamic tabpage and a dynamic tablelayoutpanel inside it then added dynamic textboxes and labels inside the tablelayoutpanel...the thing is , i am having a problem on how to access the value of those textboxes and labels and add them as new columns in the new table(tagpage) in mysql database, i can already create the table in the database but i cant add the new columns in it. heres the code for accessing the values of the labels and textboxes
error: NullReferenceException was unhandled....Object variable or With block variable not set.
Basically i have one TabControl with a form and 2 browsers within one form I have ProBlem To call the dynamic browser to navigate with dynamic Textbox.text
I have a window application develpoed in vs 2008, framework 3.5, in which i have put a button.. Now where i click that button the other text boxes are filled up with the data from database thru web service.. what i want is while all text boxes are being filled i want to show an animated loading gif image till data loading is completed in all the text boxes.. i have tried to use image picture box but while data is loading gif image is displyes but in static mode.. cant see animation... i think this is because data loading and animation both are done thru one UI thread..
