VS 2010 Function Documentation And Dynamic Loading?
Mar 13, 2011
Since I've been writing my prgram, I felt the need to provide documentation in much the same way VS2010 does.I've searched everywhere I could, but all the references I could find where for older versions of the IDE.It appears there is no builtin facility to produce documentation and this sounds silly to me.I found external programs, but at 300$ a licence it's way over the top of my budget.Even the hints and tips stickied on this forum are out of date, as they refer to VS2005.So how should I produce inline documentation for my classes
How is it possible to add a function description in VB.NET (VS 2005)? in C# this task is resumed to tape 3 times the "/" simbol just above the function declaration. (generates the <summary> tag and others)
I am creating a dll to use with all my projects and have run into a problem. functions work fine and i have no problems using the dll with a project but i am trying to add xml documentation to the functions in the dll so that i have information when i call it, i can see the summary if i call the function from within the dll project but not if i call it from a seperate project.
It is really too bad that Microsoft (who once had the best documentation in the business) has slipped so badly. Good documentation does not really require analysis, though, admittedly, it is a lot of work. To wit: for each and every single method, function, event and operator provide the following: a brief topical functional description including any parameters, a detailed description of how the object works, a workable example of the code needed to make this object do something useful and links to all possible associated objects (See Also).
I see pages upon pages of useless text and links to other pages full of links. This rapidly descends into a crevace of unbelievable complexity for the developer trying to find out something truly simple like filtering a DataGridView without changing the data connection. (As it turns out this is very simple to do but I could not find a single example of how to do it in the Visual Studio documentation.)
I am currently developing an application that will be the "base" for several components (business reporting systems, order management, etc). The idea is that our customers will install this "mother application", and we will offer components that will slot into it, expanding the functionality.
Now, here's my idea for how to make this work. I have some of this basic functionality down, but I want to get other people's opinions, ideas and experiences with this sort of thing before I move too far in a direction that might not be the best way to go:
I've seen some other responses about this and they talk about interfaces but I'm pretty sure you can do this with classes and base classes but I can't this to work.[code]....When it tries to convert whatever Activator.CreateInstance(t) returns to the base class of type Behavior I'm getting invalid cast exception. That type should be of CharacterController which is defined as a child of Behavior so why wouldn't it let me cast that?
I am using the Microsoft Encoder 4.0 dll's for capturing any activity. I have used registered dll as been imported in my project. but if the expression is not installed then there comes error in my application code.(actually the dll is missing to be used if expression encoder is not installed)."how to check for available dll and use it in my code?"
I now have a need to dynamically load a dll into my application and I've found the reflection/assembly information and it's fairly easy to implement so I thought I was on my way. However, I quickly found out that I'm only able to use 'shared' methods. What I was originally thinking was I could have one shared method 'library.beginprocess' and then that would make all the necessary calls to the other methods, but this doesn't work unless all the other methods and class level objects are also shared.
I feel like I'm missing something or somethings just going right over my head. I've looked at many, many sites and examples, but I've only run across examples that expose 1 method,[URL]..which explain how to implement a plugin architechture, which I have not tried yet, but maybe would allow me to keep my class structure the same without having to make everything shared?
I am simply searching how to obtain errors/warning for each function/member that isnt documented. Im pretty sure I managed to do this on one of my projects, but cant find how to do it here on my workstation. I have looked into the project props, the solution props, but cant find it. I must have missed something, or maybe I could do this at home with an extension.
I'm trying to create an application using VB 2010 and an MS Access 2007 database. I've been googling around but was unable to find something focused on this matter.
I currently have a XML file for an application I am developing. I have built a a XMLFile.GetContent function to read my XML File and load the content into a set of specific objects. These objects are then added to a collection and passed back to the main code to be loaded into the memory of the application.I am looking for a dynamic way of loading the information from the XML file into a specific Object Property. I have added comments to the function to show what I want to make dynamic.Content of XML File
Basically i have one TabControl with a form and 2 browsers within one form I have ProBlem To call the dynamic browser to navigate with dynamic Textbox.text
I just downloaded the trial for this application and it doesn't seem to work. I went through the Quick Setup guide and it all looked great. Now when I place my cursor on a member of any type and press Ctrl+Shift+D it does nothing. I placed it on top, inside, etc... Nothing. If I press Ctrl+Shift+A (twice) on top of the member it tells me to place it "in the line of the form MyType myVariable;". I'm not quite sure what this means unless it's referring to C# but this project is VB.NET which it doesn't seem to recognize. Anyone else have this issue? I was hoping it would make things easier since I've read that it can document an entire document rather than having to member by member. Using VS 2010 Premium.
I work with Access and VB6 for quite a while. I have read the thread of Phillip Maerz, but there was still the problem that the Function names had to be written in the delegate array. Thats why I started a new thread.Following Problem:How can I call a funktion dymacally, something like thisPublic Function Test1()Returns 1End Function Public Function Test2()Returns 2End Function Sub Main()dim i, r as integeri=2
I have a custom DropDownField for a GridView. I have to specify the DataSourceMethod property to the name of a function. I can not use a SqlDataConnector object. I want to take the name of the function (e.g.MyNamespace.MyClass.GetYears) and get the resulting object and assign it to a DropDownList data source.I know I will need to use the CallByName function
I have a recursive function wich objective is scan an structure and represent that structure with treenodes. Inside my function depends the structure I'll have to create another treenode inside my treenode or just create a node. My problem is that I don't know how to remember my treenode position when I have to call my function again.
If strTop.TextString.ToUpper = "DMN" Then gcTreeno.Nodes.Add("Node") Else Dim perf As New TreeNode gcTreeno.Nodes.Add(perf) End If
if i would like to write next time a node into perf, how i could do it?
I want to set my tcpclient up as a function and declare the ip and port later. However It wont let me. this is not copy and pasted code due to security reasons I wrote this code as theoretical cause I can not discuss the nature of my work. I am using vb.net 2008
I have [code] imports system.net imports system.net.sockets imports system.ipaddress
I am using Visual Basic 2005. The program I am creating can either bring up a form (with a bunch of buttons, listboxes and a picturebox) and the user can enter file names onto the form OR the user can drag file names from Windows Explorer and drop the names on the program icon to start the program. During the execution of the program, messages are displayed in one of the listboxes.
All this works fine except for part of the drag/drop scenario. When the drag/drop is done, the form is not fully loaded when the code function starts to put out messages. This means the user may not see any of the messages until all is complete. I have tried putting my executable code in the Form1_Shown() and even added a timer to slow things down a little, but nothing seems to work consistently.
I have done this in Php with a function before. I just don't know how to do it in VB.I have a character sheet creator for a game I am making. What I am wanting to do is write a single function, where in you click on a button and it will pass the text box name (so that it knows which text box to edit), as well as the value inside of the text box (to make sure that the new character stat ceiling is taken into account).
Private Sub Button_Click AddtoValue(Textbox1,stats) End Sub[code].....
Essentially, I need to know what to put for noidea, and noidea2, like, byval or byref or what?
GetProcAddress Function Retrieves the address of an exported function or variable from the specified dynamic-link library (DLL).Lets say I have something like this:
Dim moduleHandle As Integer = LoadLibrary("C:myDLL.dll") Dim methodName As String = "" GetProcAddress(moduleHandle, methodName) DLL should be win32 standard dll or .net dll.
How can I run the exported function if I have the address of it through GetProcAddress().If someone could supply some code it would be great.
I am trying to convert a DLL function call which has the Callback function routine called within the DLL function call. The DLL function call signature is like this:
I am having a problem with the BackOrdered Function of my program. I can`t get it to say anything but 0 when I run the program. Another problem I am having is the input box pops up like 6 times and it`s only suppose to once. [Code]
I want to create an ExpressionTree where a Func(of Vector, Vector, Vector, Vector, Double, Double, Vektor) should be called. So I use
Expression.Call(Forces(0).Function.Method, {Vec1, Vec2, Vec3, Vec4, Double1, Double2})(Vec1-4, Double1-2 are declared as ParameterExpression and Forces(0).Function as Func(of Vector, Vector, Vector, Vector, Double, Double, Vector). But I get an AgrumentException, because Forces(0).Function.Method has seven Arguments. (System.Runtime.CompilerServices.Closure as seventh argument at Index 0).
I have a treeview on 1 form which is populated from information from another form.
I have the following code.
Module treeviewReport Dim myRootNode As New TreeNode Dim myParentNode As New TreeNode 'This is the Main Root Node which is created before any others are. Public Function addRootNode(ByVal rootNodeName As String)
Private Sub GhostButton1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles GhostButton1.Click Me.Close() End Sub Private Sub GhostButton2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles GhostButton2.Click
I am successfully able to pull images into a picturebox in my program and manipulate them in a variety of ways. What i need to be able to do is the following.
1) Pull images into a picture box on my main form and dynamically resize either the picture box or the image so that the image doesnt lose its scale when it comes in
2) Have a method of pre-screening an image to be loaded before it comes in so that i can change its size without losing scale .. ex.
if my image is 1200x1200 i do not have that much room on my form so i would want to say something like
