I am a beginner learning Visual Basic and am creating a simple quiz.I need my program to load the quiz questions and answers from a CSV file that I have created and saved in the resources folder.
I need some code to load the CSV file into VB and then populate a 2D array with the values from the table.
I need to load a CSV file into a set of arrays, and show the output into a listbox, which are associated with other textboxes(labels). earlier i had the names all loading into the listbox, but the values in the label were only correct for the last line in the csv file, not corresponding correctly to the listbox values.
Here's my current Option Explicit On Option Strict On Imports System.IO Public Class frmMain Private Sub frmMain_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load [Code] .....
And here are the contents of my csv file: Randy,Johnson,100,95,80,85 Martin,Lin,90,90,90,90 Tony,Nowakowski,100,100,100,100 .....
How would I load a file in the WMP from the projects resources? formAudio.URL = My.Resources.formAudioWAV returns an error: Value of type 'System.IO.UnmanagedMemoryStream' cannot be converted to 'String'. It absolutley has to be AxWMP over My.Computer.Audio.Play.
I set a background image to my project. When I run it, It comes with an error, file not found:
Could not load file or assembly 'System.Drawing, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.. I do have the file, and I didnt move places. I still have it and also reloaded it in the resources.
im toying with an idea based round having controls end user movable at runtime, and having a function to save the current position/location of all the controls, so then i can skip through presets i already made as it were. Ill be using .ini files eventually (just testing with txt files to check it was a valid aproach) I can get all the info i need into the txt file, the problem is how to read it back into the app?
I don't know whether it is simple or not because i am new to programming. my requirement is : In my vb.net winform application, the filenames of the files present in "D:Project" willbe displayed in DataGridView1 control. Now I want to load these files one after another into memory stream buffer and add the headers("ID","Name","Class") to the content in the file. Then I want to save these files in "C:" with "_de" as suufix to the filename i.e.,sample_de.csv.
Ok here we go again, im a complete beginner to coding and have started with visual studio 2008 using the .net/vb libraries, as my first project i went with an emulation application, and it went great:So now i think its time to move onto a little more advanced tech's, so i added in a combo box and i want to change how my code works, and this is where my troubles are.To start of with the combo box, i have it added to my winform and have 3 items on it 'Action' 'RPG' and 'Sim' and i have made 3 .txt files in the projects root folder with the same names. What i want to have happen is when the user selects for instance 'RPG' from the combo box the items displayed in the listbox change to the contents of the rpg.txt file. After searching around for a few hours and no luck i tried this
Private Sub ComboBox1_SelectedIndexChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles ComboBox1.SelectedIndexChanged If (ComboBox1.SelectedItem = "RPG") Then
I'm working on a program that uses a COM Object exposed by a .dll. The .dll has a known bug, though, where it acts very erratically when more than one instance of the object is created under one .dll, resulting in crashes or corrupted data a large part of the time. I'm curious if there is some way I can load another instance of the .dll itself, then create another instance of the object without having to need a new process for every instance.
I need some help with this project I'm trying to get my program to load and save data to an online database and I haven't been able to find anything that helps me to much, I have the working code for a local database but this program will be being used to multiple people for our business I want everybody to be able to add data, delete data, and such as necessary...
Here is the code i have for opening the file on my local machine
Dim con As New OleDb.OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=|DataDirectory|data.mdb;")
Basically, I have a Web Browser object on a Visual Basic form. However, about 5 seconds after it finishes loading ANY webpage, the entire program stops responding. I figured the issue was related to internet explorer, so I updated to Internet Explorer 9 Beta and the issue is fixed (this is a very strange fix)!!! However, Internet Explorer 9 is not available for Windows XP.
A need came up for me to work on a program that resides on a web server. I can't pull up the code and I get these errors:
[Code]....
In addition, you must run Visual Studio in the context of an administrator account. I have never worked on anything like this before and for right now I would just like to look at the code. I Googled and found this: You can enable these features in the Add/Remove Programs control panel. In there you wiull find a link off on the left labeled something like 'Turn Windows features on or off'. Click that and you'll get a UI for managing the IIS features that are installed.
I looked there and don't have a clue what I should check. I'm on Windows 7. What should my approach be? I don't want to just clicking things in the IIS configuration console. The attachment is what I see.
This question is more of a fundamental question then anything.
I've got a custom object collection, lets call it People, that holds my Person class objects. The Person class has a property called Phone Numbers. The Phone Numbers property is a custom object collection of phone numbers that are retrieved from another table. So...
Private People as BindingList(Of Person) Class Person Private mName as string Private mPhoneNumbers as oPhoneNumbers
[Code]....
I'm inclined to go with option #1 because option #2 would make a lot of calls to the database if there are a lot of persons living in New Jersey.
what I am trying to do is get a program to load data from a text file with multiple lines in the form "Name, Type, Stocklvl, Price, Location, Reorderlvl" then display it all in a data grid. From where it can be viewed and edited as well as saved back into the original file stock.txt as well as generating a separate file reorder.txt which includes data on what needs to be reordered and the date which updates on program exit. I have chosen to use datagridview something I'm unfamiliar with as I figure It'd probably be the most functional to meet my needs of displaying a lot of data clearly as much as 200 items.
I have a list of a few 1000 names, which I need to load in several comboboxes. Now I can add them manually in the editor, but then the code would be huge, which is unneeded in my hones opinion. Sure I can add then in a database and load them, but that takes more time then loading a file from the hard-drive.
I am making an application that loads lots of data into a listview. It takes a while to add the data (over 2000 items). Is there a more efficient way of loading these items rather than the standard way? Maybe a quicker control or something.
I want to use a progressbar while loading, which means I need to COUNT. vb.net Dim mysqlCount As New MySqlCommand("SELECT COUNT (*) FROM tableName AS tableCount", mysqlConn)
Error: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '*) FROM tableName AS tableCount' at line 1
I really don't understand why this occurs. The connection works fine btw. So no issue(s) there.
I currently have a procedure that stores the Level, Parent.Level, and Text properties of each TreeNode in a TreeView control in a DataTable.I can't seem to come up with the logic to load this data back into the TreeView from scratch, though.
Below is what i currently have in place which does not work.
Private Sub LoadTree(ByVal table As Data.DataTable) treeBilling.Nodes.Clear() For Each row As Data.DataRow In table.Rows
My startup form displays a login box and then, upon successful login, displays a series of buttons. One of the buttons displays a form named Calculator using the following
[code]...
When stepping through the code after clicking the button that calls the above code, it gets Calculator.Show and then jumps to code on the Calculator form that fires when a checkbox on he Calculator form changes checked state, apparently bypassing the Calculator_Load procedure altogether. This eventually results in the following error:{"An error occurred creating the form. See Exception.InnerException for details. The error is: Conversion from string "" to type 'Double' is not valid."}With the IDE claiming the error is occurring on the Calculator.Show() line on the previous form. Clicking the button a second time causes the form to load as expected, with everything working corectly. The load procedure header is:Private Sub Calculator_Load(sender As System.Object , e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Am I missing something in here that would cause that not to fire first upon a Form.Show call?Possibly relevant is the fact that I renamed the Calculator form prior to the problem arising, but I've searched for the old name and there are no vestiges of code still referring to it by that name. I also tried renaming the form back to the old name, but that didn't fix the problem either. (Plus I seem to recall having ran the application several times after the name change before the error was encountered, so I don't think this is relevant but didn't want to leave it out, just in case.)
Since I've been writing my prgram, I felt the need to provide documentation in much the same way VS2010 does.I've searched everywhere I could, but all the references I could find where for older versions of the IDE.It appears there is no builtin facility to produce documentation and this sounds silly to me.I found external programs, but at 300$ a licence it's way over the top of my budget.Even the hints and tips stickied on this forum are out of date, as they refer to VS2005.So how should I produce inline documentation for my classes
I use to code looooong (98ish)ago in Visual Basic 5 but I haven't touched it since 2000. Well now im back and I must say i quite rusty!!Here is what I need help with. I've successfully created a save command for a Comma-Delimited txt file. My problems come from when I try to load the file, I can load the first line just fine. But multiple lines are going to be an issue. I don't quite understand how to tell the program to go through each line.[code]
I'm making an autotyper/spambot, these may seem wrong to a few or most of you but it's a $50 bet to me. But anyway, I have the controls on form 1, (TextBox1 + Start + Stop (user input), ComboBox1 + Start + Stop (For pre-defined input.)) and the pre-defined text on form2. But I have a problem with the combo box reading the data on form 2.
Example: On timer2_tick Sendkeys.Send(Form2.textbox1.text)
I am trying to retrieve data row by row from my SQL Server and load them into my respective textboxes, I was doing the below code but of course it doesn't work as the For Each loop will load every single textboxes with each data retrieved, ran out of ideas.
Private Sub retrieve_Data() Dim con As New SqlConnection Dim cmd As New SqlCommand
call form1.axshockwaveflash1.loadmovie(1, application.stratuppath + ("swfsStart.swf")) but when i publish the trainer, and open it through either the clickonce application, or the setup, it can't find the swfs folder to get the .swf files. Therefor the trainer will not work.
For some reason, I can get the first chart to become formatted using the code below, but the other 4 won't format properly. I had a similar problem with the DataGridView's, but I moved all of the with statements before I adjusted the Charts and they now work. I can see no reason why this would cause only one chart to be formatted and the rest to stay blank. The code was copied and renamed in the With statement for the appropriate Name of the charts.
I'm trying to see if a file I have loaded is located in the "Xampp-localhost-folder".
I'm loading a php-file-path into a textbox. After pressing a button the php file is loaded in a webbrowser. Now here's a problem. .PHP-files don't load local. The user needs to have at least Apache (MySQL/PHP/FileZilla FTP Server etc) installed so the page can be loaded via localhost.
The most important service that needs to be running is httpd.exe (Apache) or FileZillaServer.exe.
Public Function ProcessesRunning(ByVal ProcessName As String) As Integer Try Return Process.GetProcessesByName(ProcessName).GetUpperBound(0) + 1
I have a 4 pictureboxes for a database I made but having a problem with loading images in to the picturebox. On my form I have a picturebox, 1 button, 1 textbox, and 1 openfiledialog.
My button click event code Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click OpenFileDialog1.ShowDialog() TextBox1.Text = OpenFileDialog1.FileName Pic1PictureBox.Image = Image.FromFile(TextBox1.Text) End Sub
I can add pics but if I don't select any image (just close the dialogbox) I get an error and not sure what to do ..or what to add. Is there any code to tell it to just close..
