I'm already connected to the datasource in my program, and I already have the information in an one dimensional array. I want the array to be put into the first empty row of the database table, and obviously it will keep all the data and just keep appending to the database, I don't want anything in the database re-written.

I need to capture the last 5 lines from my "write to log" function so I can add it to a debug email. I can't think of an easy way to do this.
I did think I could have an array with 5 items in it, but I'd still need to shuffle the existing items to add the current data.

View 4 RepliesSay I've got a variable that contains multiple words, each one separated by a newline. What I'm trying to do is add specific text to the end of each line in that variable.
For example, say the variable contains...
alpha
bravo
charlie
etc
etc.
And say the text I want to append is "newtext"
So then I'd like the output to look like...
alpha newtext
bravo newtext
charlie newtext
etc
etc
What I tried to do is to split that variable into an array (separated by newline), and then use a For Each to append the newtext to each line in the array. But it's obvious I haven't messed around with VB in a long time, as something is wrong with my logic. Here's what I've got...

I've got a program I'm working on and I've been entering all the data manually but want to move it to a database.I've constructed the database and have it in the program but cannot get access to the individual cells so that I can use them in computing the results..I have a database named DFTL.mdb with a couple tables, including one query that I'm trying to get data from. The query has 10 records each with 5 unique numbers that attatch to the records.I've tried every way I can think of of pulling this data so I can use it in my program.

I am using the code shown below to compare two Access databases with two fields each and write the results to a third Access database. I am getting an error at the "Do While DMReader02.Read = True" line: "Invalid attempt to call Read when reader is closed." Why would the reader be closed at this point if I am using different DataReaders in the two loops?

I'm using VS 2010, and I did a project using VB and a database in Access. The problem is that when I try to put that "application" on other computers, sometimes, is not working. I thought it can be because on these computers they don't have access, but on one computer, is running another app which is using Access and there is no Access installed. How can I check if my application requires Access to be installed or not?

It looks to me as though I nearly have to re-create the controls and rewrite some of the code to make it so the programs still work after the move. At least with ODBC all I would change was the DSN definitions external to the programs. Is there an easy way to move or rename a database without loads of work?

The USER enters a paragraph of words into the translator textbox and pushed translate. Friends I have Developed my Data base Project on vb6, using adodc and datagrid using ms access database file, it was working nice in vb6, I also put Search box there and used adodc1.recordsource="select * from table" sql query.
later i needed to convert it in vb.net I converted it, every thing is working fine, but one problem appears, an adodc's Recordsource query for searching records is not working, it only works if there is data in dataset (Datagrid),suppose once i pressed search button to search record and if no record found then dataset / datagrid becomes empty, now i wanted to search an other record with other name, but this time it does not work and following error appears Either BOF or EOF is True, or the current record has been deleted. Requested operation requires a current record.
