I have two forms, an mdi parent and an mdi child. Each instance of the mdi child has an array of graphicspaths. I create the first instance of the mdi child form and add several graphicspaths to the array. I create another instance of the mdi child form and add several different graphicspaths to that array.

I have a custom form that I use instead of msgbox for a number of reasons. The initial reason was to keep the message centered on it's parent rather than the screen. There are many articles about this but I still have not found an elegant way to get access to the Parent's properties from inside the Child without passing them in (by one way or another).
In the child form the me.parent, me.parentform are not instantiated and apparently can not be used.
The point is to have this form be totally encapsulated with the logic being self contained. This is not an MDI child, and I do not want it to be due to the limitations on MDI children.
My current workaround looks like this I use a ShowMsg Function in my MyMsgBox form which looks like this:

I have a custom class (Class1) with a bunch of properties. One of the properties of this class is another custom class (Class2) with its own properties.I have a property grid with the selected object set to Class 1. I can see Class 2 as a property, but i would like to expand Class 2 to show its properties in the same property grid.
Im basically trying to do the exact same thing as the Font Class on a form. If you look at the properties of a form in the designer, you can see the font property. You can then expand that to show the properties of the font class.
I get the following string expression provided:"ChildObject.FullName" ...where ChildObject is an instance property on the MyObject1 type.ChildObject has a property named "FullName" and I want to sort a collection of type "MyObject1" based on this child properties "FullName" value.
I can do this all day long on properties directly on MyObject1 but I run into 2 challanges when doing it on a child instance and I can't get all the pieces working. The main 2 challanges are:
MyObject1 has a few different child property types so I can't hardcode the type for ChildObject. The string could be of any type.The sort expression is a String and not a known type.Above the value returned from the last line in the expression (if I run the code outsode the OrderBy method, does provide me the 'FullName' information I need. So the code must be close, but it still does not work.
Any ideas on how I can accomplish this? What I am trying to prevent is hardcoding a series of 'If' blocks on the child's type to then hardcode in its type to the sort or OrderBy method.
I'm creating an application that uses an MDI container to create a sort of desktop style for my form with a group of icons docked to the left hand side. The rest of the form is the desktop area that I want all windows to open in.If I use the standard File-New option that is provided by VB as a default for the MDI container this works fine and a child window is loaded.If I use similar code from one of the icons this also works fine.y problem is that one of my child forms is a search panel and when I double click on one of the results I want a window to open, but as an MDI child. However, this doesnt happen. When I open the window it opens as a completely separate window and isn't docked within the MDI parent. It also appears on the task bar as a separate application.
View 4 RepliesThe tables described herein both utilize composite keys. I have a parent table that stores eligibility information per "case". The child table stores eligibility information regarding each individual associated with the case. The child records are differentiated by pin number to make them unique in the child table only.
I am using NHibernate v3.1 with Fluent NHibernate v1.2, both acquired via NuGet packages. The entities are mapped in using the Fluent NHibernate auto-mapper functionality. Any custom mapping is done in the mapping override method for each entity.
Another thing to know is that these tables do not have a "primary key" defined in DB2. They only have "unique keys", which are what you see in the composite key definition below (see code).
T0026_AG_ELIG is the name of the parent table and the corresponding POCO class.
T0265_AG_IN_ELIG is the name of the child table and the corresponding POCO class.
Problem:
The problem is that when I execute the query, all the data is queried, the parent record is successfully mapped to the class, but the returned child rows do not map into the collection on the parent class. NHibernate does generate the queries for the parent and child data. When I execute my own query against the database, the correct data for the conditions does come back. For some reason, the child records are just not being bound to the property on the parent (T0026) class.
Question:
What do I need to do to get the multiple rows coming back from T0265_AG_IN_ELIG to map to their corresponding class and load properly into the specified collection property on the parent class (T0026_AG_ELIG)?

Scenario I have an MDI form with a UserControl docked at the top. The UserControl is for navigation and is ~50 pixels in height. The following code does create a form within a form and does place NotePad inside the child form. You have to manually start NotePad prior to execution (I work on that later) but the code does workŠ My problem is now I want to manipulate the properties of notepad i.e. focus, size, location, etc. but I cannot figure out how to reference notepad and its properties.

The code that calls this is parsing a name field.In some instances it will have a single last name, in others, a array of last names that need to be concatenated. I want to keep my concatenation code in a single place to make maintenance easier.[code]I've tried numerous variations on this, even putting multiple Set in the same Property, but nothing seems to work. There must be some way to take in an array and a single instance value. The compiler clearly knows if the incoming object is an array or not.I tried working with just a property of type String(), but then I can't return a String. The only solution that I can think of is differently named properties, which makes using the class more difficult, or a whole bunch of Subs and Functions overloading each other.

As Autodesk is going to discontinue VBA for their Inventor product in the near future I have been looking at other ways to run VB.NET in Inventor. To date it doesn't look like VSTA will be the replacement. Automation from an External VB.NET app is certainly possible, but leaves something to be desired for speed and integration. Compiled Add Ins are the Cadillac of choice but can be a royal pain to debug and develop. Autodesk now provides a lightweight VB.NET script interface called iLogic. It's main purpose is to allow extreme customization of Solid Modeling parts. The code actually resides inside the Part Model file.

I have a VB. Net App where I want the user to open a modeless form which contains reference information about items in a select box. If the user double clicks the item selected in the list box a modal form is opened to edit the item.I want the previously opened reference form to remain active/enabled, that is, I want the user to be able to click on it, move it, etc.I was able to get the form to at least show up on the task bar by setting it's "ShowInTaskBar" property to true, however, when it comes to the front the user can still not move it to the side to view all of the Edit Forms information.

I want the parent form to determine what child form is active and load data into the RichTextBox1 on the child form. Each Child form has a RichTextBox1. The parent form gets its data by loading a file.
I am close to a solution but just can't get there. You will see in the code below, if I make a direct reference to a specific child form, it works great. What I want to do is to use the Active Form function to determine which form to write to. I have looked at the MS tutorial which gets me close.
