View 2 RepliesI have the windows media player embedded in a windows form, I have tried to set the uiMode to 'None' but it will not work, I have tried doing it using the properties window in the development screen which accepts 'None' but when the program is run it shows the controls on the player.I have also tried placing the action into code: AxWindowsMediaPlayer1.uiMode = none This generates an error stating the 'None' is not declared.

View 6 RepliesI am using Visual Studio 2010 and have been slowly getting into threading. My current project has a form with a button that in turn starts two threads. The form itself has two labels on it that are used to display the progress of the computations. Each thread has a delegate defined to change the value of the respective label (as the labels are not defined in the thread, but on the form itself). The threads call subs from a separate class. All of the calculations work flawlessly. My problem is that the labels do not visually update. Through use of message boxes at the end of each loop, I know that the label text property is, indeed, being changed, but it is not actually refreshing and updating on screen.
My delegate code is as follows (I grabbed this code off of another forum where people had the same issue - it seemed to work for them, but not for me):

I have no code specifically for this part of my project just saying this ahead of time.I have not used text files that are inside my project but I want to be able to open the file when I load my form and save it when I close my form.I know how to save manualy and same with opening but that defeats the purpose this has to do as much as possible on its own.All I have are code from a project I made a while back which was a notepad program.[code]however I need this to all happen on its own and it needs to install these text files with the program hence why they are in with the project there are about 30 text files that will need to be with it so if I can get help with one then I can figure the rest out.

I am having hard time figuring out why the data repeater is showing no data.While debugging this I see that the dataset is getting the data and is passing the the "ds" but nothing is showing up on my page even though the data is being passed to controls inside data repeater while I am debugging.

I have an asp.net gridview that is originally bound to a sqldatasource control, but when the user presses an external button, it instead gets the contents of a datatable rather than a SQLdatasource control. I therefore had to write code in the PageIndexChanging event of the gridview to allow for paging. My code is as follows:

This worked beautifully until I added an AJAX update panel so the whole page wouldn't postback every time it paged, and paging stopped working. I debugged it and discovered that it is actually calling the PageIndexChanging event, but nothing is happening. I searched the web and found a few people with the same problem, but their solutions did not work for me. There was one on this site whose problem was solved by the following:
In PageIndexchanging event, where you bind data to grid, make sure, data is again fetched from the DB
I don't know what that means; my data was being bound as demonstrated above. I have "enable paging" set to true and EnableSortingAndPagingCallbacks set to false.

I really like the coding speed that vb.net provides, but I don't like the possibility to forget to declare variable types, return types of functions, etc. and that is why in each class I use[code]..
Is there a way to define those two options on the project/solution level?
the combo box style 1 has both the drop down option but also a manual entry option. I need to know how to code it so that when you manually enter data, it takes that data and places it in a text message "The shipping charges for "data" is $15" displaying in a text box. Shouldn't be hard but have developed a mind block.

1. I have read that keeping Option strict on and Option infer off is good practice and will insure your code is tight and properly written. I would like input regarding this, pro's and con's from those who are in the know.
2. Having said that, I have set Option strict on and Option infer off in an existing program I wrote (that was working perfectly mind you) with them off and on respectively. I went through and cleaned up all the errors on the 'need AS' and casting of variables, but one is leaving me a bit put out.[code]

View 2 RepliesI have to take over a project written in vb.net, which contains more than 400k lines of code written in option strict off mode. I want to build it under option strict on first before I do anything else -- which maybe converting it into C#. I found there's thousands of lines of code raises compilation error, mostly are about implicit type casts. Is there any tool would help to make it compile under option strict on mode if I don't want to correct every single line manually? Because it's really painful to add CStr/CInt invocation into every line of Code myself.

I am making an invoicing application. I have a label (lblCost) inside of a UserControl (InvoiceEntry) inside of a FlowLayoutPanel (pnlEntries). InvoiceEntry represents a line item on the invoice, and pnlEntries is the "body" of the invoice. pnlEntries can hold several InvoiceEntry controls.
I am attempting to sum all of the lblCost values from each InvoiceEntry control to make a subtotal, and I want that subtotal to change automatically if costs are changed (e.g., a change in quantities being ordered). Is there a way to handle when the lblCost.Text property of any of the InvoiceEntry controls contained within pnlEntries changes?

I have inherited a VB.NET application that I need to compile so I can run dorkumentation on it. I first received "Option Strict On disallows implicit conversion from x to y" errors, so I turned off the Option Strict option in the Project file.
So why do I still fail with the same error message?
I have two comboboxes which are related to each other. When a make a choice in the first there are different choices possible in the second. So far so good. But is it possible to remember the second choice when i change the first? the program should select the the option in the second if possible or other select the first option.[code]

View 1 RepliesIt appears that my favorite thing in the world is tackling projects that are beyond my current knowledge and abilities. I have a little project that I am working on which is a simple image viewer stocked with (upon completion) your standard Load..., Next/Previous, Zoom In/Out, Actual Size, and Full Screen capabilities. However, I am running into a few snags:
(1) I've been able to get my "Load..." button to display a file dialog box, but I cannot seem to get a working filter (with which only image file types are allowed to be selected) in working order.
(2) I have a PictureBox object (entitled PictureBox1) that displays the image selected via the file dialog box, but it loads images in their full size (1:1/100% zoomed) state without scrollbars, etc. to allow me to navigate the loaded image. I would like to have it load the image, initially, to fit within the dimensions of PictureBox1 and from there be able to zoom in/out via my "Zoom In/Out" and "Actual Size" buttons and be able to scroll if the zoom level is beyond the dimensions of PictureBox1.
(3) It dawned on me that I haven't the faintest idea how to get my "Next/Previous" buttons to allow the user (me) to navigate, in succession, the images contained in the folder in which the currently loaded image is stored. [code]
