Asp.net - Detecting If Controls Exist In A Control Collection?
Mar 12, 2009
I am trying to dynamically add some css and js elements into an ASP.Net page at runtime, but because this code is used in mutliple controls I need to ensure that the relevant links are only injected once.
Currently I have the folowing code in the OnPreRender event.
Dim head As HtmlControls.HtmlHead = Me.Parent.Page.Header
If Not _useCustomStyles Then
Dim litCustomCss As New LiteralControl("<link rel=" & Chr(34) & "stylesheet" &
[Code]....
Does .Contains look for this instance of an object (which I assume is why this is failing)?
Is there a way to check the controls collection for a specific id? Or am I going to have to write a sub to loop through the existing controls in the collection checking for the id.
I have a small piece of code that iterates through the controls collection on a panel (below) Everything works fine until I want to focus on a control that doesn't support the selectall method i.e. a datetimepicker. Is there any way of determining the type of control and not call the selectall method when the type is datetimepicker. All my other controls support it so that's the only one I need to exclude.
I have an ASP.NET app with lots of textboxes all over the page that need updating at various points through program execution. These textboxes actually belong to a certain class, so for easy updating I thought I could create a Dictionary(Of string, object) and add the control.ID and the control to it and then for updating do something like this:
I created a row (header row) in a gridview with a dropdownlist among other input controls. I also put a button on that row (fltbttn-see below).I created an addhandler for the button called fltbttn_Click.I want gain access to my dropdownlist(ddlscantype) using findcontrol but how can I get to the header row where the filter controls exist?[code]......
I'm copying code from one VB project to another PC but the 'datagrid' on the copy insn't inserting into the new PC. When the form loads the datagrid is missing. The error I got was that there was something missing from the machine. When I tried to add the datagrid using the 'Additional Controls' it doesn't seem to exist. Any chance I can download the control? The version of VB is 6.5 and its part of a graphics package I'm using.
Im developing a program that adds any number of tabs for each directory that contains user specified information and also adds a list view control on each tab that shows the files contained in said directories. I want the user to be able to double click a file in the list view(s) to open it.
I am trying to make it so when I use Me.Controls("Timer1") for example I can access specific commands for a timer such as Stop() Start(), I tried CType() and typed in "Timer" as the type but it says the control type can't be converted to the "Timer" type.
I want to know if this kind of control exists in VB.net.I looked around, but I really don't have a clue as to what it's called, EDIT:It's basically a two column type control where I can add data and click to sort by that column type (basically like a DGV, but not as large)
I'm a bit confused here. I'm copying all the controls from one form to a panel on the main form and for some reason only about half of them copy.
Private Sub switchComponent() Dim selection As String = TreeView1.SelectedNode.Text Panel1.Controls.Clear()[code]....
When stepping through the code, serverDic(selection).Controls has 12 elements, but only 6 of them get copied. Next time this gets called, only 3 get copied. Does Panel1.Controls.clear() somehow kill the references?
EDIT: Just to show that there are infact 12 elements in the collection:
I often see code snippets for handling each control of a certain type on a form or panel, etc. They always start with For Each ctrl and the do a test for control type. Many .NET users are not aware, as I was not until I tried it recently, that we can LINQ on the controls collection.Below is a simple sub I created for resetting every checkbox on a panel I use as a validator.
Private Sub ResetCheckBoxes(ByRef pnl As Panel) Dim ctrls as System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable(Of Object) ctrls = From c In pnl.Controls Where TypeOf (c) Is CheckBox
Does anyone know how I can access the FontDialog's controls collection? I would like to disable the Font Style ListBox, set the Font Style's TextBox to readonly and disable the UnderLine and StrikeOut CheckBoxes.
Maybe if I knew the right termanology, I could find the answer myself.. I am going to run a fairly long list of "If"s that will determine if certain controls appear on the form or not. In it's simplest form would be:
I am writing a simple control translation function that reads an XML file containing control names and their localized text. Within the application, each time a form is loaded, it iterates through every control and tests to see if that control is defined in the XML file. If it is, it then sets the control text to whatever localized text is defined in the XML file.
There are some tests and additional requirements (i.e. nested loops) for TabControl and MenuStrip etc., but the control that is giving me the most trouble is the ContextMenuStrip.[code]...
I have a application using Webbrowser Control, I want to detect the click events for anchors in web page. I dont need code, just the directions to look into.
Edit
I didn't find any solution for the problem but found a hack in Control.ModifierKeys, this works until now!
I am working on an application and I need urgent help. One of my forms contains a web browser. I need to detect if F3 key is pressed while the web browser is active, so a dialog box will appear for a particular functionality of the application. But unfortunately web browser control does not have keyup, keydown or similar event to help me detect if the F3 key is pressed. As far as I know, one way to solve this problem is adding a menu which has F3 shortcut. But my application does not contain any menus, so I dont want use a menu in this part of the application.
I would like the text in a button to display "hello" when it is first clicked, and "world" when it is clicked again. But I don't know how to write code to detect the second click.
========================================================== Private Sub StartStopButton_MouseClick(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs) Handles StartStopButton.MouseClick Button1.Text = "Hello"
I get a message, "The MSDN collection does not exist. reinstall MSDN." When I try to access any of the HELP features of Visual Basic 6.0. I do not have an install disc for this. Is there a download or a place I can get this?
It was there in VB 6. I have some images that I'm going to use a buttons, and I did this in VB 6 with the image control. however, this control doesn't appear to exist in VB.NET 2008 Express. I guess I could use a picture box, but isn't that overkill for such a simple task?
I'm creating a text editor program in VB with richtextbox's and you are able to have multiple documents open with a tab control. the only problem is I DON'T KNOW HOW TO SAVE THE TEXT IN A RICHTEXTBOX IN A FILE WHEN IT DOESN'T EXIST YET!!!
I am trying to add controls to a collection runtime(toolstripmenus to a menustrip) However, when I try to loop through the collection, it says something like: "Collection has been edited. Listing function cannot be done" (it's a free translation since i have a finnish VB)
Does anyone know how I can access the FontDialog's controls collection? I would like to disable the Font Style ListBox, set the Font Style's TextBox to readonly and disable the UnderLine and StrikeOut CheckBoxes.
I have an asp.net usercontrol which represents a "popup" dialog. Basically, it's a wrapper for the jQuery UI dialog which can be subclassed to easily make dialogs. As part of this control, I need to inject a div into the page the control is used on, either at the very top or very bottom of the form so that when the popup is instantiated, it's parent is changed to this div. This allows "nested" popups without the child popup being trapped inside the parent popup.
The trouble is, I can't find a safe way to inject this div into the page. A usercontrol doesn't have a preinit event, so I can't do it there, and calling Page.Form.Controls.Add(...) in Init, Load or PreRender causes the standard exception "The control collection cannot be modified during DataBind, Init, Load, PreRender or Unload phases."
I thought I had found a solution by using. ScriptManager.RegisterClientScriptBlock(Page, Me.GetType, UniqueID + "_Dialog_Div", containerDiv, False) which seemed to work well normally, but recently a coworker tried putting an UpdatePanel inside the dialog and now she's getting the error "The script tag registered for type 'ASP.controls_order_viewzips_ascx' and key 'ctl00$ContentBody$OViewZips_Dialog_Div' has invalid characters outside of the script tags: . Only properly formatted script tags can be registered."
How are you supposed to add controls to the pages control collection from inside a user control?
I am creating a user control where when a user clicks a button a popup window will show up with information. The popup window is driven by a toolStripDropDown so when it shows up it does 2 things
Does not move the other controls on the form around but displays over them That it can show the details outside the bounds of the user control itself without having to reserve the space ahead of time
Here is some code
Public Class Popup Private treeViewHost As ToolStripControlHost Private Shadows dropDown As ToolStripDropDown
[Code].....
Now my issue is as the form moves or resizes the Tooldropdown does not move relative. I understand that. When I try to capture the move event of the user control that event does not fire when the entire form moves. There has to be something I can capture because the controls in the container of the form move relative, what drives that? I tried wndproc but nothing fires during form move unless the form is repainted.
I'm trying to make a collection class for buttons to address them as a whole, only I want to design the buttons at design time, and not add/set their properties programatically at runtime. Each button has its own image, so it doesn't seem right to add a bunch of lines of code which assign the properties when they're always going to be the same thing. Is it possible to create the controls at design time and then add them to an array at runtime? I did this, iterating through the buttons on the form and adding each of them to the class below. The problem is that once they're added they seem to be a different instance because changing their positions has no effect on the design-buttons on the form. Essentially i wanted the collection to be a reference to the items belonging to the form.Is that possible or should I be doing this a different way?[code]
