I'm trying to code a section for my website in VB but VB can't seem to find a button. Is there a way for the code to find it?
I know where it is. Loginview > Login > LoginTemplate. How do I get VB.NET to point to that location?
I use the raise event Keypress of combobox to find enter chars with e.keychar , but i can't find the delete button , how can i do that?

(It was a homework assignment which has already been turned in but I am determined to get this code to work.)I have a text box titled txtSearch and btnClick.I need to search a list box for a city name and then have it displayed in a message box. If there is not a match then I need to display an alternative message box stating there is no match. City is in the list box starting at 16.The text needs to be case insensitive.I am only getting the message "That is not a valid city." for any entry that I type into my txtSearch even though I know it should be a match.

I finally got the code I needed for inserting data to an Access database and it's working fine. Now I'm applying the same code to a new Button object and I'm getting that ISAM error thing.

I have a binding navigator in my project and it works just fine.My question is where, if at all, can I find the code that is run when the delete button on the navigator is pressed.My reason for wanting to know this is I want to be able to give the user a second chance when the delete button is pressed.I want to ask the user if they are sure that they want to delete the record by using a msgbox.If the user says yes I will delete if they say no then I do not want the record deleted.I tried putting logic in the BindingNavigator DeleteItem_Click but was not successful.

View 8 RepliesI've been working on a GUI in WPF which I'm fairly new to, having only used Windows Forms up until now. So far, my GUI is very simple: it contains two rectangles, each of which drops a shadow. The shadow creates an effect of rectangles "floating above the canvas" so to speak.
When one of the rectangles is pressed, the myRectangle.MouseDown event is handled such that the shadow goes away, thus creating an effect of the rectangle being pressed down onto the canvas, like a button.Similarly, when mouse button is released, the myRectangle.MouseDown event is handled such that the shadow reappears and the rectangle "floats" again. This behavior make them resemble buttons. Note, there a reasons I want them to be rectangles and not custom buttons.

If the pointer leaves a rectangle while mouse button is pressed, I'd like shadow to reappear. This is arguable simple, because theoretically in this case, any time myRectangle.MouseLeave is raised, the shadow should come back on, even if it was already there.If the pointer left a rectangle when mouse button was pressed, then came back while before the button was released, I want the shadow to disappear again. This one is what gives me problems. No idea how to do this.
I am trying to find the handle of the child window for the Yes button in the User Account Control window so i can click it. This window has a structure with a few child windows with the same name.

There are multiple CtrNotifySink with its own Button child window or other child windows. How do i search thru the different CtrNotifySink window to find the one that contain the Yes button so i can send a click to it? I do need to find it before i can send a click, right? because i try just sending it to the main window with sendmessage and nothing happen.I even try sending it directly to the handle found by spy++ of the yes button with bm click but nothing happen?
I want to find the "select" query in the code behind of a button in a winform LogOn form.I have the source code of one big solution which includes 15 projects. There's 1 project with all the UI that I can run and start my debugging. During the debug process, I click log on button there's a line of code where I want to step through which it's calling a diffrent project in the same solution to validate the username and password. But it doesn't allow me to step into that project to validate the data. It just goes right through it and the username and password pass validation right after that line of code.
View 4 RepliesI have created a hotel booking system programme. However, I am puzzled as to how when the booking button is clicked it can search a database and find the best suited room (RoomType) and make sure that it is available (Date of Departure < system.date).
This data is held in two tables (Access):
Booking:
BookingID (Primary Key)
CustomerID (Foreign Key, Table:Customer)
Date of Arrival (Date)
Date of Departure (Date)
RoomID (Foreign Key,Table:Room) Room:
RoomID (Primary Key)
RoomType (Text)
RoomPrice (Currency)

This has all got to be done within a single button click. Any ideas as to how I can place this into my vb code?

I have been trying for a while to get it to select a single matching record as there is a high chance that this query will return multiple records but im unsure on how to deal with that.
I am currently using the code below within a VB.Net application to find specific text in a Word document. The text is surrounded by symbols represented by the character codes in the .Text statement. The code below is working fine. The issue now is that sometimes the desired text within a document has been marked for deletion and appears as tracked change within the document. I would like to find only the desired text that has NOT been marked for deletion. Does anyone know of a way to determine if the found text is a deletion?

I am finding the endings of the word, that is, the string "rd". The following code finds the first occurance, but then fails to find the last occurance, and the variable "indexToText " changes to -1.After the first search, the debugger shows the startLocation at character position 4, so it is not past the second occurance but still will not find it.

I am creating a VBA application using Excel 2007 and would like to make virtually all of the standard Office and Excel menus invisible to the user and present to the user only my custom menu controls. I have been successful in doing this for all objects on the Ribbon as well as those on the Microsoft Office Button Menu, with the exception of the "recently opened files list" box, that also has the "Excel Options" and "Exit Excel" buttons on it. Can anyone tell me the name of the object for this control so that I can make it invisible?

I am making a small game of pong and i want to incorporate a pause feature. is there a way i could freeze the form in place and then unfreeze it later at the push of a button. the tutorial i used is below so check it out to get an idea of what i've made so far.
View 2 RepliesI have a button on my form where I'm showing a ContextMenu when the user left clicks on it, I'm actually using MouseUp right now to show it.What I would like to have happen is the user click on the button, the button stays pressed while the ContextMenu shows, it returns to normal when the ContextMenu closes (Either a menu item was selected, the user hits the escape key or they click/tab to somewhere else). Also I'd like to position the ContextMenu in the lower left corner if the menu opens down or the top left corner if it opens up. So the left edge of the ContextMenu is flush with the left edge of the button.Moreso the button staying pressed until the ContextMenu is closed.
Edit: I'm also ok with this being it's own control inheriting the FW's Button that used the assigned ContextMenu as well.
