Asp.net - Find Locally Declared Procedures And Methods In A Webform Code Behind (GetMethods)?

Mar 6, 2009

I am trying to get a subset of locally declared methods in a webform code behind using GetMethods but cannot figure out the proper BindingFlags settings (see code below)....and some further specific questions:

1) Is it possible to differentiate between Procedures and Functions?

2) Furthermore, I only want to fetch a certain subset of these....is there some way I can decorate the ones I want with an attribute, and then further filter based on that?

Private Sub LoadFunctions()
Dim thisClass As Type = Me.GetType
For Each method As MethodInfo In thisClass.GetMethods(BindingFlags.Instance Or BindingFlags.Public Or BindingFlags.DeclaredOnly)

C# - Closing And Disposing A Locally Declared Streamwriter - But Still Getting File Use By Another Process Exception

Dec 20, 2011

Am trying to achieve a couple of things: merge a bunch of individual text files into a combined file, move the files that were combined into a new folder. I have assigned each of these tasks to a method. Something in the first method is hanging on to the file, even though I am closing and disposing the stream reader - but I can't figure out what. I know that a process from the first method is hanging on to the file because when I comment out the first method, the second method moves the files without a problem.

EDIT The first method is returning a value for new big file. This is passed as a parameter to the second method. When the second method tries to reference this file, that is when the program throws the error (5th line from bottom) Most posts on SO advise closing/disposing IO objects, but I am already doing that. They also advise using a third party tool to investigate what process is hanging on to a file, but I already know that it is the first merge method (because when it is commented out the program runs).

Where To Look In A VB Backend To Find Parameters That Match Stored Procedures

Apr 8, 2009

I am building a module that uses gridview and formview to display data in a grid, using VB as my backend, developing in VS2008. When I try to implement the module, I receive an error about matching parameters. From what I have read, this error kicks back due to a discrepancy between the VB and the SQL stored procedures. My query should be totally okay, but I don't know where exactly I should be looking in my visual basic...I have five separate VB files; the view.vb file, edit.vb, settings.vb, the controller.vb, and info.vb.I had thought that my best bet might be the controller file, but I can seem to find anything that might be missing.

Can't Find Any Methods To Handle Encoding?

Jun 14, 2012

I am not really looking for any code here, I am trying to find out why I can't find any methods to handle encoding while saving text to an html using the savefiledialog. I have searched everywhere I know and can't find anything on it.

Very simply I have a textbox that holds a bunch of html...I have a function that allows you to preview the html as document text in the web browser element. No problem...works great...But when I save the html to an html file I clearly have an encoding issue:[URL]..I am really just looking for the information that will help me to correct this issue (put me in the right direction at the very least)

Find ALL Methods Of Getting Current Date/time In .net?

Aug 31, 2010

I have a 500K+ lines vb.net app, written by 10+ different devs over the past 5 years. Many times it gets the system time and/or date and relies on it.Now I have to re-run real cases thru the program for regression testing purposes, and it screws up cases where the date/time matter. My fix is easy, just replace all the areas in the program that get current date/time with a sub that gets the current date/time, UNLESS I'm testing, in which case it will return the date/time of the original run. I have tried searching the sourcecode for the obvious 'current date/time' functions:

Now
DateAndTime.TimeOfDay
Date.ToDay

However, if I miss one, I LOSE.list more ways to get the current time, that might be hidden in the source code, that I can search for? Note: It's pretty clear none of the 3rd party libs in this system are returning date, well, one is, but I've caught it.

Call Stored Procedures In Code Having Service-based Database Attached With A Form By Datasets?

Dec 23, 2011

I already know how to call insert, update, delete & select procedures in DataSet.xsd window. And I also know how to call queries by table adapters. But I just found out that its not possible to call all functions by queries (such as insert). It works when I test the query but when I try to add it, it says "Failed to get schema for this query". So I built a few stored procedures which do many functions (such as transaction, insert, update etc...). But I am unable to use these stored procedures in VB form. I found some tutorials mentioning that it can be done by defining connections and some other stuffs with which I don't want this to be. I want to call these procedures by writing code in VB code editor window with DataSets, TableAdapters, BindingSource etc...

VS2008/VB: Moving Subclass VB Code To Inherited Base Class - Where Should Variables/objects Be Declared

Jun 3, 2009

In re-engineering a windows forms application, I find that a lot of code-behind in the various form classes is duplicative and I'm trying to centralize as many procedures as possible into a base class which can be inherited and used by the subclassed forms.

This process seems to be going well and is making the code in my subclasses much simpler and hopefully easier to maintain, but I'm not sure where to draw the line between leaving code in the subclasses and engineering for generic resusability and moving it to the base class.

Specifically, in some subclasses I have code which manipulates variables and objects specific to the subclass, and although I could move the code-behind into the base class, the base class code references specific objects which are needed to compile. For example, each subclass manipulates a databound datagridview and form detail controls which allows the user to select between multi-record and detailed single-record views of a datatable.

In Visual Basic 2008 do I need to declare dummy data objects in the base class so that the base class will compile? Or is there a way to indicate that the data objects will be provided by the subclass?

Making Class Methods Instead Of Instance Methods In .NET?

Mar 29, 2010

I am not sure how clear my question is by the title, but I am trying to make Class methods instead of Instance methods in Visual Basic that way I don't have to waste memory and code creating temporary objects to execute methods that don't need instance variables.

I am not sure if you can do that in VB but I know you can in Objective-C by using either a "+" or "-" sign in front of the method declaration. And in C++ (at least I think, I can't remember) you put the static keyword or const keyword in front of the function. How would I do this in VB if it is possible? Or should I just make a separate set of functions that are not members of a class?

Css -8.5 X 11paper To Webform?

Or is there a CSS template that will mimic the size of a piece of paper on the web and print as seen on the screen.

I tried to create a website 612 x 792 which from what i googled was the size of a 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper however although it looked great on the web when i printed it decided to print 4 pages when it should only have been 2 pages. Here is the part of my css code that i am trying to make the size of a paper

i can't use session, or anything i already know, because i can't create as many methods i want (that would not be good, due to possible large numbers)example, there are three lines i print on demand:

house [link]
car [link]
flower[link]

i want the three links to load the same aspx webform sending as a parameter a string with these lines.
