OLEDB Connection - Pull Information From Three Different Database Tables And Compiling The Information Onto One Screen
Jun 9, 2011The program is currently trying to pull information from three different database tables and compiling the information onto one screen, to do this i am using three different connections and a function to handle the data at each stage. The issue is as my code hits PageLoadStage of "2" and runs the QueryDatabase() Function i am encountering an error of: "OleDB exception unhandled: No value given for one or more of the required parameters." This occurs on line 15 of the first code snippet. Can anyone explain this and/or identify any code issues if that is the cause.

Retrieval Of Web Based Data?

I need to pull some data from a text file separated by a space and put it in a drop down, the first value is supposed to be the text and the second value (separated by a space) is the value of the selection. I think I need to use an array and a System.Net.WebClient. How do I approach this?

ASP.NET: Retrieve Information From SQL Server Via Stored Procedure?
Jun 3, 2012Created an XSD file that represents my table structure from my database. Created a class file to hold my functions such as the one below.

Now it seems odd to me to have two files doing what should be contained within just one file. I feel like I should have one class file called "User" and have member variables in there along with the class functions like the one above. But all the tutorials I see are using these data tables. On top of that I'm not sure how to handle the if statement at the end of the function. I don't think I would want to return a whole DataTable since I should only have one row, and I also don't know how I would handle an error if my function is supposed to return a data table. I suppose I could return an empty one and then if the table is empty in my code then I would handle it there, but this also seems messy.
Is this the common way of retrieving information from a stored procedure? Or is there a more up-to-date method that I'm not seeing in my search results?

Remote Document Retrieval From Http
Aug 16, 2010I have been doing some research to determine an efficient and secure way to pass a document located on another server in the network to our web server and then on to the intranet user that requested it. While I have found plenty of ways to do this, I am not that experienced with this scenario as I have always just served documents stored locally on the web server and located nowhere else.
Our document server is shared in the domain and everyone has access to it and depending on their permissions, can access many files. I was thinking that I could possibly grab a file if I could pass the intranet users credentials but I don't know where to look to do that.
I was also thinking that maybe a webservice could do what I need but that just doesn't seem right to me because I am kinda guessing that there is already a .net library available that already handles something like this but am unsure as to what it is.

How To Read/write Properties To Xml File For Later Retrieval
Aug 31, 2009First off I am fairly new to VB .net however I have had some success in my project so far. I am creating a simple envelope accounting program for personal use. So far I have some basic forms created and have my class defined and a few methods for calculating my balances as well as changing the property data I want to work with. I now want to take this property data and save it to an xml file that I can easily retrieve the data into another form and save for later.

Search Form - Data Retrieval In Textboxes

I have a search form in which a field called billno is searched and all details are displayed in datagridview but the problem is I have to restart the project every now and then. Whenever any entry is done in database the immediate form opens is the search form so it must display the data which was inserted immediately without restarting the project.
For inserting data I am using the following code:

This thread will also hopefully serve as a searchable reference for those few who actually make an attempt to search the forum for information before posting a question. This thread is meant to be a repository for our continued collaboration on trying to find a way to update the attachment field using the OLEDB class. Samir believes that he is close to cracking the secret code.:)
Attachment retrieval and updating is a fairly trivial task using the Microsoft Access Database Engine. It is also fairly trival to retrieve the attached files using OLEDb as well. The difficulty comes when trying to add or delete an attachment with OLEDB.
The attachment field is actually a record set where each record consists of six fields. One of these fields is the data field that contains the binary file data. According to the documentation, Access will compress certain file. It appears that compression/decompression is handled behind the scenes so to say and what you are present with is sequence of bytes. The data field consists of sequence of header bytes followed by the actual data. The first four bytes define an offset to the start of the data. One thing that we are trying to determine is the meaning of other bytes in the header.

This project is by no means a finished product. It is hard code to retrieve the first record from the included Access database.

The database should be exported to a *.sdf database. If no connection to the SQL server is produced, the software have to try to connect to the *.sdf database.I would like to achieve:
1. Export the data in the SQL Server 2008 R2 database to a local *.sdf file.
2. This *.sdf file has to work as an alternate connection string in the strongly typed dataset.
